Leo simply nodded.

“I think I might have a way to make you feel at ease and allow you to open up,” offered Caleb, starting for an SUV in the lot. Like a lost puppy dog, Leo fell into step behind him. “Because you do need to talk about it, Leo, or it’s going to continue gnawing away at you until it becomes too overwhelming.” He turned to look at Leo. “And I don’t want to see that happen.”

“Where are we going?” Leo asked when it was clear Caleb wanted him to climb in the vehicle. The all-too-familiar touch of panic began to lace its way through his body. Being confined in a car with another person, their destination unknown, sparked his anxiety.

“I’ll never hurt you, Leo. Trust me. Please. Just breathe. It’ll be okay, I promise.”
