Chapter 4; Thunderstorm

"I can't be sure--" I thought

I pulled then wiped my the lenses of my glasses with my palms. I wear my glasses then my eye's focus started to adjust itself--

"I better find someplace to take shelter for a moment--" I said as I look above the dark rainy clouds that cover the sky so I then walked towards the nearest tree in my sight. I tried to know the person's identity from a distance-

"Just as I thought--" I said then started to pedal my bike towards the bus stop. I arrived at the bus stop then said--

"You've also been rained on right?" I asked then chuckled.

"Well-- yeah, Desiree pedaled so fast that's why I couldn't catch her that's why-- I'm left in the rain," Hershey said

"I thought we won't be seeing each other for today since the time we left the coast lol," I said then sat beside her

"Yeah me too--" She said, "Well it looks like the rain's getting heavier than be--" She added then a very strong struck of lightning and a loud thunder appeared in front of the both of us

screech, thud! the thunder and lightning went

I suddenly closed my eyes due to the fear I received then the moment I opened my eyes again-- I saw Hershey hugging my arm while shivering--

"Hershey--" I said then she stared on my eyes

"I don't want to be rude and tell her to let go but--" I thought, "-- It kinda feel awkward but--" I added while looking at her holding my arms--

Minutes pass with her holding my arm tightly due to a round of thunder and bolts of lightning appear in front of us.

"Oh, sorry--" Hershey said then wiped my arm

"Oh, it's fine though it's kinda awkward lol" I replied then chuckled

We feel cold after minutes of sitting and watching all the vehicles that pass by.

"I expect that we'll get home late but-- I didn't expect us to be this late," I said then chuckled

"Well, it seems like the rain became weaker-- I must not let this chance pass," She said, "I gotta go, see ya tom!" She said then started to pedal away

"Oh-- ok, I gotta go too," I said then started to pedal under the sprinkles-

"btw--" I thought while pedaling, "How can I enter the building with these soaked-in-rain clothes?" I whispered.

"I wish they opened the back doors of the building or else I'll be spilling up the mess in every square foot I walk into," I said as I talk to myself

brrrrrr, I said as I started to freeze in the cold avenue-

screech-- thud, as another set of thunder and lightning strikes the city

I pedaled as fast as I could until I reached the building. Luckily I saw the staff giving towels to all that enters into the building.

"Can I have one please?" I asked as I entered the doors of the building--

"Here you go--" the lady said, "-- Watch your step, the wet tiles might be slippery" She added then smiled

"Thank you" I replied then smiled while rubbing the towel into my hair--

"What I long day--" I thought as I carefully step on the stairs

I opened the door of my room then head towards the shower

ring, ring, ring, my phone rang as I got outside the shower ready to sleep

"Oh it's mom--" I said then picked up the phone

"Hey, mom, what's up?" I said

"Well, I just cant to check you out if your safe" My mom replied

"Actually mom, I'm more than safe," I said, "Why did you ask?" I added

"I heard that there was a huge storm in your place just now" Mom replied

"Well yeah, but it kinda became weaker" I replied

"And-- by the way, I am also going to remind you about your trip," Mom said, "I sent you the file containing all the things you'll bring tomorrow at the trip-- keep safe" she added.

"Thanks, Mom, you too be careful" I replied then she turned the phone down

Yawn

"I feel super sleepy--" I said as I glanced at the clock and a that it's almost 10 pm

"I really never thought that I'd got home this late," I said as I stretched myself as I open the bedroom's doors

"This is what you define as a long day--" I thought as I set the alarm to wake me up early tomorrow for the school trip

I pulled up the covers up to my chin then closed my eyes--

After minutes of silence-

"ARGH!! I can't sleep!" I cried then smashed a pillow on my face

I took a deep breath then tried to concentrate--

Out of a sudden, an annoying noise started to play itself

"Come on people! Why won't you let me fall asleep?" I thought

I stood up then glanced outside the window to see where the noise is coming from--

"Seriously? A party in the middle of the city?!" I asked after looking at the ginormous disco lights placed in the middle of the park--

"I wish that the rain will come back again to make them all stop--" I said with a demonic smile lol

Suddenly-- Shhhhhh, the storm came back then all of the persons in the park started panicking and taking shelter--

"I am innocent lol," I said with my palms up facing the window--

"Ohh good--" I said, "Now I got more energized-- I can't sleep any more--" I said disappointingly

"I'll be like a zombie without sleep tomorrow--" I thought

"What now?" I asked myself then turned the lights on--

I sat on the chair while tapping the table for an idea, suddenly a thing attracted my eyes

"This might help me sleep--" I said as I grabbed my written book

"What about I'll review it?" I thought then opened the book

So I turned the lights off then turned the table lamp on with its shine pointing to the table--

I took a glance towards the ticking clock

"It's almost past 11, I gotta sleep or else things won't be that good tomorrow," I said while flipping the book's pages--

"I'll start with chapter 13--" I said then started reading the first paragraph--

'"My birthday party turned out to be a nightmare--" I said, "I thought It'll be fun but everything turned upsidedown after knowing that there's a serial killer inside this island," I thought--

"I wish we'll be safe--" I said to my friends while we're walking in the dark,

"I wish that the lamp's oil will last till rescue will arrive," one of my friends said--

"I s-stil don't want to d-die!" My sibling said while grabbing my pants

Out of a sudden, we heard a--

Smash! that came from the room 2 blocks away

My sister started to cry so I sat the wiped off her tears then said--

"Stop crying-- we still have hope"... Suddenly we heard another

Smash, Smash! Coming nearer and nearer

"Let's go everyone-- I saw a place to hide over there!" My classmate said then pointed to the hallway on her left--

We all started to run in the basement of the building

"Shhh!" I told everyone after I heard footsteps coming nearer and nearer

"I have no idea that my life will end here-- and also at my Birthdate!" I thought while looking at my shaking palms

"I heard someone here!" The killer exclaimed

I can feel my vision spinning as I hear him say that

"Ouch," I said then squeezed my forehead to remove the pain

Smash! another window was smashed

"I have a p-plan," I said while squeezing my forehead

"You know that the k-killer is here-- ouch-- so there must be something that he used to come here!" I said

"What do you mean? Go straight to the point bro--" My classmate said

"I mean-- He has a vehicle outside so maybe we could ride in there and get to safety" I replied

Smash, another window broke--

"H-how could we do it, Jerome?" My classmate asked, "I m-mean we can't circle the whole i-island without being caught by the k-killer--" He added with a shaking voice--

"Yeah, that's the tricky one-- Maybe we could hide behind the potted plants around the-- OUCH!" cried while squeezing my head tighter, "-- p-perimeter," I added

"Together we're four in total, namely; Carl, Kevin, My Sister, and Me- Jerome--" I said

"What are you thinking?" Carl said with a suspicious look towards me

"-- I want to suggest that-- probably-- we need to s-spilt u-up" I added

"Are you crazy?! We might die if we do that--" Kevin whispered after hearing another

Smash! from a freshly broken window

"Are you sure we c-can do this?" Kevin said while breathing heavily

"Brother I'm scared," My sister said then hugged my while her tears start to fall--

"O-of course-- we can do this--" I said, "Believe in yourselves" I added while wiping my sister's tears

"Yeah-- We can do this--" Carl said with his fist closed tight

I smiled back to him then said-- "You all in?"

"Sure--" Kevin said then asked, "What's the plan, Jerome?"

"I was thinking if maybe-- Kevin-- you check the Northside of the island--" I said, "--and Carl, you go check the southeast part of the island--" I added, "--and I and my Sister will be checking everything in between the both you--" I said

"Be careful everyone-- I want to see you again-- alive..." I said then we all walked in our own ways

"Sister-- we need to be brave-- we cannot survive if we won't act--" I said, "I know it's scary but we need to leave this island to survive--" I added while hugging her--

"Let's go-- I'll carry you for us to move faster--" I said then placed her on my back

I walked on the hallway with my sister carefully-- I tried my best not to step on the shattered glass pieces on the floor so that I won't produce any noise--

My sister began sobbing-- "Shhh" I whispered the suddenly

"I heard something! Are you crying?! I'll soon stop you from crying, little girl!" The killer said then laughed crazily

I panicked as I saw his shadow on the corner walking towards our path--

"I have to act fast--" I thought then looked about to see if there's an opened room where we could hide in--

I immediately ran towards the nearest room

"Ahh" I whispered after stepping on a piece of broken glass, "Wth-- It poked through my shoe--" I thought while talking a step one by one towards the room--

"Oww"-- "Oww," I said every step I take--

"Sister-- go there immediately!-- Don't think about me--" I whispered to her cause my feet started to feel achy

"I won't leave you here!" she whispered then tried to support me in walking

"Just in time--" I thought then accidentally saw the Killer's shadow at the corner walking nearer and nearer

"Twist the doorknob-- fast!" I whispered to my sister then she opened the door and we both hid inside the room--

I immediately removed my shoe and my bloody socks then--

Smash! another window went

"Ouch!" I whispered while wrapping my sliced feet with pieces of cloth

"I know that you're here!" the Killer said while tapping the broken windows with his bat

"Shhh! hide under the bed--" I told my sister, "I'll hide behind the door then smite him if he'd enter the room" I added then walked carefully behind the door while holding a metal tube as a weapon.

"Show where you are so that we'll speed things a bit," the killer said creepily then laughed hard

I can feel that he's coming near the door on our room-- Suddenly my vision started to soon and get blurry again

"You can do this Jerome--" I thought while breathing heavily, "-- Just think positive outcomes" I added

then suddenly my phone started to ring-- I immediately grabbed my phone and tried to decline the call but I'm too late--

"Oh-- thanks for helping me little one--" The killer said then slowly walk towards the room we're on--

I dropped the phone due to shock

"I need to protect my sister--" I said then took a deep breath--

I walked outside my hiding place while holding the piece of metal tightly getting ready to fight--
