8 Hours later Alex was walking out of his university's main entrance.
Even after a full day of class, he wasn't able to shake the feeling he had lingering in his gut.
"Somethings telling me to go back there." Alex knew he was being irrational but he just couldn't shake the feeling.
"It's only a small detour, I'll have a quick look on me way home," Thought Alex setting off for the park.
His Sister already had plans with friends so he decided to go it alone.
As he was nearing the park the feeling in Alex's gut was only getting stronger and stronger.
Standing in front of the park gates, the Sun was setting behind him giving the environment a reddish hue.
"Why do I feel so nervous?" Thought Alex. "I'm only having a look around the park."
Little did Alex know. This one walk through the park was going to be the catalyst that changed his life forever.
---
"There's nothing here." After one hour of walking Alex was becoming disheartened.
Just when he was about to start walking home he got a call from Sister "Hey Alex I'm just heading home now. Do you want me to pick up Chinese food on my way home?"
After spending all day focusing on the park, Alex had only just realized he had forgotten to eat anything.
"Yeah if you don't mind. Just get me my usual I'll be home soon." He realised he made a mistake as soon as it left his mouth.
"Be home soon why where are you? Wait don't tell me you're in the park again.
Hazel was livid. It was only hours earlier that five people had been killed there. Yet her idiot brother was casually walking around the park this late at night like this was all a game.
"GET HOME NOW!! Your obsession with conspiracy theories is gonna end up getting you killed".
Alex felt ashamed knowing that he had made his sister worry. After his Mum and Dad died, Hazel was the only real family he had left.
"If something happened to me it would destroy her," thought Alex. "I know I would be if something happened to her".
"You're right. I'm sorry I'll head straight home." Feeling how stupid he was Alex decided to head home.
"You should be, don't worry we will talk about at dinner, said Hazel sounding wound up." Hanging up Alex started heading towards the Parks exit.
"Well that's me getting an ear full," he thought.
When he was about 5 minutes away from the exit of the park. He caught a reflection from something in his peripheral vision. "What's that?"
Walking over to the side of a tree Alex could see some kind of Gem. For reasons unknown to him he couldn't seem to avert his gaze. "What is it?" Thought Alex.
"It's beautiful," said Alex reaching down to pick up the Gem.
The average person wouldn't find anything special about it. To them, it just looked like an unevenly dented ordinary rock. But to Alex, it was a glistening diamond of intense beauty.
While looking into it Alex could swear he could see himself. Older, more mature holding a spear. He seemed to be battling some monsters, handling the spear with more skill and grace than he ever thought possible.
Just as the older Alex finished off the last monster. The gem seemed to lose its shine going dull.
"Wait I wanna see more." Rotating the Gem trying to see if he missed anything but when he couldn't find anything he shook the thing out of annoyance.
BANNG!!!
Sending Alex flying backwards the Gem had exploded in a flash of white light taking Alex off his feet and knocking him a good 10ft backwards.
"What the hell shouted Alex trying to get to his feet, before he could stand. A massive influx of energy started attacking his body.
Feeling an intense amount of pain, Alex started rolling around on the floor in agony. If he was in any less pain he might have been able to scream but right now he couldn't even seem to do that.
If another awakened could see this scene they would recognise it immediately. This was an event that happened to everyone when they stepped on their Path Of power.
The energy in the Gem was currently ravaging Alex's body, destroying muscles, bones and tendons. Restoring any damage afterwards making them stronger and more durable.
While the process would make the individual stronger it came with a cost. The pain was so bad it wasn't unheard of for a person to die from shock trying to step onto their path.
It was because of this that most Awakended went through special training and medication before awakening to make the chances of survival higher but Alex.
Alex was going through this raw with no training or medicine what so ever.

2 minutes earlier.
A man was walking around Victoria park with a grim look on his face. He was 5"10 had short blond hair and grey eyes. He was carrying so kind of long stick in his hands covered in a grey sheat. This man was of course Jasper.
After giving his statement to the council he was given an ultimatum. Find the Gem or be disposed of.
Knowing that Sloan was in an incredibly weak state when he found him. He didn't think Sloan could have moved the Gem very far. So he decided to check out the scene of the crime.
The council wasn't completely heartless though. They had given Jasper a team to assist him in his mission.
Behind him were a man and women who looked so similar they might just be twins.
They were looking at Jasper in disdainful amusement. "Out of everyone in the organization it had to be these two didn't it. Thought Jasper.
While the twins were extremely competent at their job. They were known for being extremely sadistic to anyone but each other. Because of this, no squadron would have them.
"Desmond can you sense anything?" asked Jasper. Desmond was someone who treads the first Path Of Power. The Path of Perception.
This Path while being the most common one, was still extremely powerful and useful. It allowed an individual to sense certain types of energy that one normally couldn't.
The kinds of energy one could sense and the distance would change depending on how far down the path a person had tread.
Closing his eyes and focusing, a surprised expression appears on his face.
"While I initially thought you totally inept bringing us here. You might be on to something. About 10 minutes in that direction there seems to be a kid going through an awakening." Said Desmond.
All the colour drained Jaspers face making him look like a ghost.
"Let's go"
