A New Development

"Take us there," said Jasper talking to Desmon's sister, Kristina. Just like Sloan, Kristina walked the 4th path of power. The Space Path.

The power of this path like the name suggests. Allows the user to control certain aspects of space.

Contrary to most paths, the ability granted by the space path differs slightly between users.

It's extremely unusual for two people who walk the path of space to share the exact same powers.

Focusing and bringing her hands together. Kristina opened a passage.

Unlike Sloan who could open white doors in space, Kristina's Portals look similar to a tear in space like someone forced it to open making it look far less stable.

Looking through the portal, the group could see a young man rolling around in agony.

Finally seeing his target Jasper charged through the portal landing in front of Alex's body.

"Dammit. He really is awakening. Do you two have any awakening medicine?" asked the twins.

"Why would we have medicine? we've aleady awakended." Said Kristina with a smirk.

"If any of us should have that medicine. Shouldn't it be you? You're the one who's life is hanging on by a thread." Said Kristina crossing through the portal with her brother.

She had been relentless in her teasing since she was assigned to Jasper.

"Just help ok." Shouted Jasper. He was aleady getting tired of the duo.

The trio bent down to check his condition. "Not good at all. If we don't do something soon he's going to die" said Desmond.

He could sense the energy ravaging Alex's body. It was like thin strands of white gold energy destroying everything it came into contact with.

"Kristina, how long can you jump?" Asked Jasper. "Maybe half a mile tops," said Kristina.

"Half a miles gonna get us nowhere," said Jasper pulling out his phone and calling Cain.

"Good news I hope," said Cain. "Depends on what you mean by good," said Jasper.

Jasper proceeded to explain to Cain how he had found the Gem but it had been activated by a civilian.

"We can't let him die". Said Cain calmly. "I'm sending a long-distance specialist from the Recon Division we need to get him back as fast as possible so he doesn't die."

Just as soon as Jasper hung up a man approached from the darkness of the woods.

"Evening people. How's everyone doing this fine afternoon?" The man was of average stature and looks. He was holding a medium-sized sabre in his right hand.

As soon as the man approached Desmond went on all alert. "Carful people, I can't sense even the tiniest bit of energy from him, it's like he doesn't exist.

"Who are you and what do you want" asked Jasper.

"You can just call me Shade. And well, I want him. Said Shade pointing at an unconscious Alex.

"Well, unfortunately, he's with us said," said Jasper pulling out the long pole he had covered.

Moving with a speed most men would struggle to react to. Jasper charged at Shade moving his pole in a piercing motion aimed at Shades head. The weapon Jasper had been concealing for so long had indeed been a spear.

Watching Jaspers charge, Shade calmly rotating his sabre, knocking Jaspers spear to the side and delivering a palm strike at Jasper's face.

Jasper narrowly managed to dodge before rotating his body trying to strike with his elbow.

Hitting nothing but air Jasper gained his bearing and tried to locate his enemy. Standing a good 10ft back, Shade was just standing there with a smirk on his face.

Showing a weird expression. Jasper charged again. Unlike last time the duo traded dozens of blows. None of them was able to gain the upper hand.

"I'm more skilled but his moves are so hard to read it throughs me off my game. It's like he's not even there.

Just before the next exchange, a massive ray of light landed right next to Alex and the twins. Out of it came a middle-aged man with black eyes and black hair.

"I'm guessing it's him." Said The man bending down and pouring a cream coloured liquid into his mouth.

As soon as the liquid entered Alex's mouth he stopped convulsing.

"Cole be careful, we have trouble," said Desmond. Looking over at Jasper and Shade fighting. Cole responded, "It seems trouble really likes to follow that man lately."

Raising his finger and firing a large beam of white light out it just narrowly missing Shade who dove to the side.

Shade looked at a large tree that had been struck by the white light, the tree tumbled to the flood as the light pierced a large hole in it. Shade swallowed some salvia.

Cole was the Division leader of the recon department making him extremely powerful and intimidating.

With just a wave of his hand a beam of light like hit Alex from the sky, taking him back to headquarters.

Seeing the man approaching, Shade realized he was no match for Cole by himself, never mind the three allies he had with him.

Before he could start to retreat Jasper realized Shade wasn't paying attention to him. Jasper activated his Path of Power. The second Path Of Power: Destruction.

His spear started radiating red energy making the air vibrate endlessly. Pulling his spear above his head, Jasper swung downwards with all the might he had.

Releasing a red crescent slash of red energy that was sent hurtling towards Shade. Notices a split second too late as his attention was on the biggest threat; Coel.

Shade could only manoeuvre his body to avoid damage to his vital organs not being able to dodge completely.

Falling over Shade was holding a stump where his left arm used to be.

"I'll get you back for this" barked Shade. "Just you wait!" He said disappearing into thin air becoming invisible and retreating.

"Once again, I think you and the council have something to talk about." Said Cole walking next to Jasper patting him on the shoulder. "I'll put in a good word for you," he said sending him back to headquarter with a beam of light.

The next day.

Alex was lying in a white room with a hospital bed in the middle. Opening his eyes proved to be a challenge, taking him more time than he would have liked.

When he was finally able to look around, he could see an old man with a cain sitting next to his bed with a smile on his face.

"Mr Fortuna" Said Cain with a smile standing up. "I think it's time we had a chat.
