"Yes," I said with as straight of a face as I could muster. "After everything I went through, after everything I've done for Arthur, I deserve it. Tell me I'm wrong."
"I'm not saying that you're wrong, but why now? Why the sudden interest in his businesses?"
"It's something I planned on asking Arthur for before he left," I lied through my teeth just like we had practiced. "I never got the chance though. All I'm asking is that when we read the will and you get it, can I... Can I have it? Or sh*t, buy it from you even."
I hadn't discussed making that offer with the guys, but it was too late now. Aaren could punish me later for it.
