Part Of Your World

Once upon a time, I had thought that the worst thing to ever happen to me was being abducted by aliens. It turns out that wasn’t the case at all. The worst thing to have ever happened was to be betrayed by the one thing you needed to survive. After the Alliance fell, my AI powered ship released me from the lab I had been in for the past few months. Not wanting to look like the monster I knew him to be, Lucifer sold me to a pleasure station, hoping that I would die a quick and painful death. He should have had a conversation with my parents before he did that. At least then, he could have been assured that I was nothing if not a constant source of disappointment. Instead of dying, I lived in that hell for almost a year before a military operation took out the pleasure station and all of us poor females with it. Thinking that this was my chance at freedom and a life of my own, I was sorely disappointed to find myself back in yet another cage. Swimming in a pool in the center of my new cage, staring up at the gold bars surrounding me, I waited. For freedom or death, I really didn’t know, but I waited. All I had ever wanted was to be part of a world, to find that one place in all the universe that belonged to me. But unlike my mermaid namesake, I had no witch to grant me my wish, no Prince Charming to save me. That was… until they showed up and killed my owner. They told me that they could take me anywhere in the known universe. I just had to ask. The problem was I had no idea where to go. I had no home and no way back to Earth. But that didn’t stop them from showing me the universe. And then, one day, I found it. The one place I could call home. It was their world... and all I wanted to be was part of it. However, before I could call it mine, I had to fight for it. Jokes on them. I’d been fighting my whole life, and now, I finally found something worth fighting for. You can run. You can hide. But if you fuck with me and mine… You best be prepared to die. My name is Ariel. Let me show you my new world. --- This is a dark novel with a dark beginning, please pay attention to the trigger warnings!  We All Learn From Our Mistakes

Their third mistake was not locking me up…

I chuckled low, ignoring the pain in my ribs, as I remembered the looks on their faces as it took them more than seven days to find where I was hiding.

One of the smaller maintenance guys, a little green guy about half of my size, had finally found me tucked away in a small, dark corner of the ceiling. They had thought I would be brought to heel without food or water, but they really should have spoken to my parents before trying that tactic.

It was their favorite one to get me to do their bidding. Too bad it didn't work for them, and it sure as fuck wasn't working for the aliens either.

Well, I should give them credit for not making a fourth mistake. I guess they did learn from their lapses.

The sounds of fighting and pounding on the gym door were loud enough to knock me out of my thoughts. Struggling to my feet, not caring about the bone sticking out of my forearm or the one sticking out of my calf, I hobbled my way to the wall.

I was strangely detached from everything. I had been for a while now. But today was worse than normal. I couldn't bring myself to care about what would come through that door. I didn't care about the fact that today might be the day I drew my last breath… I was just in a bubble…

Waiting for it to pop.

I leaned against the solid barrier as the yells and fighting continued. This was normal. Everyone wanted to be the first in here—the first to do damage for the day.

Picking up the slack metal chain that attached me to the wall, I held it in my hand, letting it sway back and forth.

Yeah, just another day in this fucked up universe. The Prophet, the man destined by God to speak His word, told me that I was bound for the devil. That no matter how many beatings he gave me, no matter how much they starved me or forced me to work, my ending had been decided.

He told everyone that God told him that I was given bright red hair at birth to warn everyone to stay away from me, that I would lead men to sin.

I really didn't think that they needed me to do that. They were finding sin all by themselves just fine, thank you very much.

But I would have to admit, I was waiting for Satan to come and take me away. Even Hell couldn't be as bad as this place.

I snorted at the place my thoughts had gone in the silence. I had thought that I would never miss my life back on Earth… but right now…

The door to my holding cell slammed open, the force so hard that the upper hinge was taken completely off, the rest of the metal slab hanging precariously on the bottom one.

"Don't worry; I am here," called out the man strolling into the room. He was utterly drenched in blue blood, and an actual sword was hanging from one hand as his bright red cap swirled around him.

He looked like a knight in shining armor coming to rescue the princess, but I knew better.

Oh, sure, he looked harmless. He was some type of feline alien, covered in soft white fur from the tips of his pointed ears all the way down to his tail. His blue eyes seemed to shine with kindness and sincerity, and his whiskers twitched whenever he was confused about something.

He was built like a swimmer, his muscles defined but lean and he had five fingers on each hand.

I remembered the first time I had ever seen him; he looked so much like the human version of one of the barn cats in the commune. I was actually happy to see him, thinking that maybe, just maybe, he would rescue me from this hell.

But he never did.

He whispered sweet promises as he raped me over and over again, his minions holding me down so that I couldn't hurt their precious General again.

Oh, did I forget to mention that he had four scars starting from one side of his face to the other? I gave them to him the first time he came back. When I realized that he was just as sick and perverted as the other males who came here.

I didn't respond to his words, even though I understood them. Whoever currently owned me had implanted a translator into the side of my head, allowing me to understand every twisted desire of the clients.

But because we were just sex slaves, they didn't bother to hide it at all. Instead, it was a giant metal… thing… stuck to the right side of my head. I couldn't even hide it with my hair unless I pulled it all back.

I had only made that mistake once.

See, the aliens aren't the only ones to learn.

"I am here to rescue you," the General murmured softly, his arms to the side to show that he wasn't a threat as he continued to approach me. "Just like I promised you."

I snorted, the speed of my chain picking up as I twirled my wrist, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. All of the men who tried to destroy me had my mark somewhere on their bodies, the chain leaving scars of its own.

Well, all the men but my husband and the Prophet. But I wasn't counting them at the moment.

"Please, my Treasure, calm down. I don't have long to get you out of here, and I don't want to damage you," he continued, his chest vibrating in a low purr that was meant to soothe my nerves.

It used to work. Not so much anymore.

When I refused to back down or answer, the poor, distraught General motioned for one of his minions to come into the room behind him.

I heard the slight hiss of something before a brief sting on my neck.

Fuck. Normally, they beat me first, taking pride in the fact that they were stronger than me.

Never once had anyone brought in a tranquilizer dart.

Somehow, that felt like cheating.

Strengthening my grip on my chain, I fought the darkness until the last possible second. But that, like everything else in my life, was fruitless.
