Chapter three

Hayden kicked to wolf and carried me from the ground, he was fast and steady. His yellow eyes were glowing, his arms were so comfortable that I rested my head on his chest. My heartbeat calmed down and I gained control over myself, something about Hayden made me feel safe. Could he be my mate?

I quickly shake the thought out of my head, Hayden was the soon-to-be Alpha - having an Omega as his mate would be an insult to the pack.

"Raise the gates!" Hayden yelled.

The gatekeepers raised the gates and let us through, my eyes lit up, the Beta's territory was beautiful. Everything was advanced and everyone looked beautiful and healthy. It looked like paradise on Earth.

"What's the situation?" A man said as he walked towards Hayden.

"The Omegas are wiped out, they are the only survivors!"

"You should have let them there to die," He said with disgust.

"Everyone is valuable in the pack," Hayden roared.

"Omegas valuable?" He chuckled. "They are nothing but baits," He stared at Sigrid, then turned his gaze to me. "Gerald wants to see you," He gave Hayden a nasty stare. "And bring your bitches along."

"Baits huh?" Sigrid sneered.

"Come on," Raff held her hand. "The big man isn't that bad," Sigrid's face turned red as she followed Raff.

Hayden stared at me, and I walked past him, following Sigrid and Raff from behind. Everyone looked at us and whispered to themselves, rumors spread faster than wildfire. We were the 'Bitches' in town, two fucking Omegas.

I kept my head down and tried to avoid any eye contact, we walked for a while, then we came across a building. It was the biggest building in the territory, and I'm guessing Gerald is in there. The Betas standing guard made way the moment they saw Hayden, they bowed their head in respect and Hayden nodded politely.

"He's been waiting for you," A lady wearing a white robe said to Hayden.

He took a deep breath before knocking on Gerald's door, I looked at Sigrid and she stared at me too, if Gerald sees us as nothing but baits then we are good as dead.

Gerald's voice echoed and Hayden pushed the door open, I was dumbfounded the moment I stepped in, the room was decorated with paintings 'Norse paintings' which I do not understand.

"You brought them with you," Gerald sat up straight. He was sick and it doesn't look like he was getting better.

"Yes, they are the Omegas who fought with the stray Alpha," Hayden pointed at me and Sigrid.

"Come closer... Both of you." Gerald requested.

Sigrid and I went closer to the old Alpha, he touched our hands and his veins turned black, he groaned in pain and slowly released our hands from his firm grip.

My torso suddenly stopped bleeding and the pain was gone, I looked at him with my mouth slightly opened.

What sorcery is this?

"Hayden.." Gerald called out.

"I'm over here," Hayden slipped his hands into Gerald's palm and kissed it.

"My time here is limited," Gerald coughed "I've made my choice and have chosen you to be the next Alpha in the pack," Gerald used both hands to hold Hayden's hand. "I don't know why they attacked the Omegas territory," He sighed.

"Who's 'They'?" Sigrid asked.

"Crimson Claws," Hayden replied with a cold tone.

"Hayden.." Gerald gasped for air. "It's time."

Hayden turned his gaze to Raff and he nodded, Raff left the room almost immediately after getting the signal.

"Leave us!!" Hayden commanded.

Sigrid and I left the room and walked towards the front door, I touched my torso and wondered how Gerald knew I was in pain, I looked at Sigrid and she stared at me with her beautiful green eyes.

"This way," Raff's voice echoed.

We followed him from behind, Sigrid acted weird and didn't say a word, she kept staring at Raff while rubbing her hand gently. Raff was tall and well built, he had dark eyes that matched perfectly with his brown hair, and not to mention he was drop-dead gorgeous.

"I can tell that you like him," I whispered in Sigrid's ears and her face suddenly turned red.

Sigrid always wanted a mate, she wanted to be a Luna and have a wonderful family. Every night she come up with different names for her future kids, and I would giggle and call her crazy. I mean, don't get me wrong, everyone plans for the future and prays for the best outcome. But that's different for Omegas, we can't mate with anybody but ourselves. Because even plants are more valuable than us.

Sigrid deserves the best, but she should learn that some things in life are just so Impossible to get.

Raff opened the back door, and we walked to the other side of the building. My legs were freezing, I didn't notice I wasn't wearing a boot because the inside was so warm.

"Why's everyone here?" I asked looking at the crowd.

"They are about to welcome their new Alpha," Raff smirked.

We joined the crowd; everyone seems to be distracted and didn't notice we were standing with them. My teeth started clashing together as my skin got paled.

"Hey!" A little girl pulled my clothes.

I turned my head back slowly and looked at the beautiful girl covered in her oversized sweater, she smiled at me and stretched out her hands. I smiled and took the boots from her hand, I wore them almost immediately. "Thank you." I mouthed.

She giggled and grabbed my hand as she stood right beside me, the little girl was so eager to see the new Alpha. She nodded her head lightly as she hummed a song - her grip was firm and anytime I tried pulling my hand out, she will stare at me with a big smile on her face.

Her beautiful blue eyes look as calm as the ocean, and her white hair looked like snow. I remembered seeing a snow princess in grandpa's book and she looked just like one.

"Everyone!!!" An old man holding a staff came out from the building. Everyone kept quiet and he continued. "I'm sad to announce that our friend, brother, father, and leader has passed on." He sighed sadly. "Gerald Dutchman has gone to dine with the other Alphas in heaven. We shall celebrate and feast for today we lost a warrior." His voice thundered. "Dark days will come but the sun will always shine on the surface. Today we mourn the passing of a great leader and we celebrate the rise of a new one."

Hayden opened the door and stepped out - suspense filled the air, and the crowd kept their focus on him. Hayden raised his head and his eyes were glowing red.

"The new Alpha," The little girl said with excitement as she bowed her head. Everyone bowed their heads with respect, Sigrid followed and I was the only one staring at Hayden. He glared at me and our eyes met, I felt a spark in my chest and my heartbeat accelerated.

"All hail the Alpha," I whispered as I slowly bowed my head.
