It was then her turn to scoff into her coffee, the hot liquid obviously going down the wrong way as she coughed to clear her airways. I caught Mia sniggering quietly in the corner of my eye as Levi composed herself with an amused smirk, "Well, I mean I guess it sort of comes as part of the package."
"So how long have you guys... been, soul mates?" I pried, playing into the spiel.
"Well..." She sighed, leaning one hand against the counter and drumming her fingers as she looked up in thought, "technically, I guess since birth? But we figured it out when Jaxon was about... twenty-one? And we got together shortly after that. I've actually known him since we were kids. Comes with having such a small community."
"What gave it away?" I asked, a small wry smile appearing as I entertained the notion of soul mates, "Did you figure out you both shared a love for alternative folk music?"
"Umm... no, it's actually pretty instinctual for shifters."
