Chapter 28

"I wish to join your team as well. I wonder if Young Master Chen is willing?"

Chen Linjian looked at him and asked "Who are you? Do you know where we're going?"

The people around Chen Linjian looked at him in ridicule. "Brat, have you reached Bronze Rank? If you haven't then don't come here to join for fun."

He had obviously reached the Bronze rank but he didn't want to show that to anyone.

So he simply followed Nie Li's lines from the Canon and after showing off a bit of his knowledge. He didn't proclaim to have read every single book from the library. That's just foolish and would make the people suspicious of you even if you proved their knowledge to them.

Still, by the end of their discussion, Chen Linjian was impressed and allowed him to join their group.

Chen Linjian even offered him a place among his followers along with the promise of training and learning materials but he was already far ahead of the curve and would soon leave these guys behind int he dust.

He calmly refused Chen Linjian's offer by stating that he wanted the patronage of the Snow Wind Family instead and Chen Linjian just nodded and took it in stride.

Unlike Nie Li though, he already knew where the treasure was. So he didn't ask Chen Linjian for one item among the treasure as he never planned to let these people have anything in the first place.

Just as he was about to leave, he heard another voice from behind him and paused "I want to join in on the expedition as well young Master Chen Linjian. Would you be willing to accomodate me as well?"

He turned around to see that it was none other than Ning'er who had silently followed him here.

Chen Linjian looked at Ning'er and frowned "You are the young lady of Winged Dragon family right? The one that's betrothed to Shen Fei."

"I am." Xiao Ning'er nodded.

Chen Linjian looked conflicted for a moment before he asked "Have you reached Bronze Rank yet?"

Xiao Ning'er shook her head but before he could say anything, she showed him a Soul Crystal filled with green colored glowing orbs. "I haven't reached Bronze Rank yet as my soul force is at 98. But I'll reach there before you leave Glory City."

The other kids looked impressed at her cultivation level as no one else in their class had reached that level at this point.

Chen Linjian thought about it for a moment before nodding.

"Very well then. You can come along. Meet me at the Outer Western Gate of the Glory city early in the morning two days from now on."

Both he and Xiao Ning'er nodded and Chen Linjian nodded back before leaving with his followers/underlings/minions.

Once they left, he turned and looked at Xiao Ning'er strangely.

She had chosen not to go to the expedition in the canon. Why had she decided to come now? He decided to ask.

"Why have you decided to come to the expedition Ning'er?"

Xiao Ning'er blushed at his question "I… I'm just trying to keep my end of the deal."

"Your end of the deal?"

"Yes." She nodded "You said that you'll try to search for the Daoyin technique and you've kept your end of the deal. I'm just…"

"Trying to love me?" he asked, amused despite himself.

She nodded shyly and he chuckled, making her even more embarrassed.

"Well, I suppose a dangerous expedition in the wild life is as good a place as any to ignite our fierce love."

Ning'er didn't say anything so he didn't push the topic and started walking back to their desk in the library.

"Let's get back to searching for your cure."

—————

That evening.

"And here's your order dear benefactor." The elderly man said and passed him a spatial coin. "Corpses of 36 Gold Rank demon beasts. The bounty for them have been cut from the money you deposited to our account. Once again, we cannot thank you enough for your patronage."

He nodded in his shapeshifted disguise and then left the place with a disguised Lily in his arms.

After walking for a while, Lily asked "Have anyone followed us this time?"

"No." He replied. No matter how much wealth he showed, the Demon Spiritualist Guild never sent anyone after him which showed him their sincerity and only made him want to work even more with them.

"Where to next?" Lily asked even as she buried his arms between her breasts. Her tits weren't as big or firm as that of She Xiu but they were enjoyable nonetheless.

"To the Inscription Hall and then the Secret Treasure Pavilion" He said.

"Why there?"

"Well… I'm about to go out in a dangerous journey outside the City." He said "And while I doubt we would come across any Black Gold Rank Demon, it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Plus, I want to buy things like tents and other supplies for an expedition that I don't have."

"Makes sense." Lily nodded.

"I also want to fill my Pocket Dimension with a large amount of food, water and other supplies as my clones won't be able to buy such things while I'm out in the wild and I would rather not have them eat wild berries or Demon Beast meat once we run out of food."

"You can always keep a clone back in the city." Lily suggested and he paused.

"Huh… I didn't think of that." He said.

Plus, there was also the fact that he didn't know if his clones could survive in such long distances from him. In fact, he had never tested how far his Clones can be from him.

Well, might as well test it out this time.

"Very well then." He nodded "I'll keep a clone behind to buy any needed supplies from the market and put it inside the Pocket Dimension. And I'll hope that it doesn't die when I'm too far away from it."

Lily hummed in agreement and they continued with their shopping trip that last for the rest of the evening.
