Although Riley Turner felt guilty deep down, looking at Damien Sterling's handsome face, her guilt and self-reproach were somewhat eased. Damien Sterling was always meant to be hers; after all, the elder Mr. Sterling also approved of her.

Riley took Damien Sterling's hand and began massaging his fingers, mimicking the way she had seen Emma Hart do it before, thinking it might make him feel more comfortable. After all, even in a coma, the nervous system can still respond. She spent the whole night repeatedly massaging Damien, hoping he would wake up by morning.

Even though Riley could easily find many good men given her own qualities, she still believed Damien Sterling was the most suitable for her.

Mr. Sterling Senior woke up once during the night. He looked through the glass and saw Riley carefully tending to Damien, smiling with relief. His efforts to bring them together hadn't been in vain.
