Chapter 15

Taurus had texted him earlier, but he hadn't respond yet... Was he the one calling?

Suddenly, Loess froze, shocked, when Mica's hold on him was gone.

"Y-you're letting me go..?" Loess stated, not sure how to react after Mica released his arms. "You're not gonna kill me?"

"Your terrible ringtone ruined the mood." He grunted, taking the phone and throwing it back to Loess, who caught it with both hands.

"Terrible?! Mind you, Hailee Steinfield sounds angelic."

"Mm, sure."

It's Chief. Loess realized, looking at the ID. He picked up, deciding to not tell him of what he knows yet.

"Evening Chief, what's up?"

"Huh.. what suddenly shocked your manners to life.." He murmured, but didn't wait for an answer. "I need you to pick up Ajay."

Loess' grip on the phone tightened and his irises shrunk in sheer horror. "W-what."

"Tonight is her last night, and I need you to go pick her up. I can't have her over at the moment."

"Oh," NOOO! "Uh, just curious, why can't you?"

"Well I'm uh..." He paused. "Because I'm... on a date."

"WHAT-!"

"Yeah, 'Night." He hung up.

Loess was left momentarily paralyzed.

"Don't be ridiculous. Old men have love lives too, you know."

"Y-you heard..?" Of course you did, your mutant.. isn't normal.

"You've been in my room too long." He puts on a perfect fitting black shirt, Loess mesmerized by the way his back muscles flexed as he pulled it on.

"Y-you know I can still call the CDU, yeah?"

"If you would you'd have already done it, and you'd already be dead." Mica spat out, "Which brings us to this; why didn't you?" Kneeling, he looks for something in a drawer compartment in the bed.

"Looking for more if your steroid-pills? Haha, too late, I burnt them all before you came."

"What." It wasn't a question or a statement, but it pinched claws at Loess' heart threateningly. "Do you have any idea what you've gotten yourself into?"

"What's important is that you don't get any stronger."

"The strength is a bonus. Those pills help me calm down. Now that they're gone, you're living with an unhinged killer." He got up, walking toward him.

"You can always just take suppressants..." Loess backed up.

"I'm allergic to a component of the suppressants."

Idiot. You just gave me info on how to poison you. "Oh," He stepped further away.

"You know, I liked your dad. He was my cellmate." He stopped right in front of him, pushing Loess' hair back roughly, forcing him to look up at him, he smiled, genuine insanity in his striking eyes."He treated me like his own son, and I wanted to be... but he already had his own son. He had you."

Loess gulped, cringing as the hold on his hair tightened.

"He told me a lot of stuff about you, I gotta say, it made me a bit jealous." Mica's other hand wrapped around his neck, tight, but still allowing him to breathe. "I wanted to be the closest thing to a son he'd ever have, so hey, why not get rid of the real one."

Loess' own hands grabbed the other's wrists, trying to push them away. "S-stop-"

"But he probably won't be so thrilled about you joining him in heaven so soon..." He simultaneously let go of his hair and neck, he undid the braid before doing so. Going behind him, he tied his hair into a half ponytail. "Since you burnt my medication, it's your job to keep me calm now. It's an easy task, just refrain from doing anything that sets me off."

That's gonna be easy. You didn't kill me after finding out I came into your room and burnt your medicine. "And what exactly does set you off?"

"Find out yourself, you're good at that."

"Mhm, so, are you going to keep doing the stuff you did before all this?"

He snapped his fingers, "There's the reason. You don't want to report me, so I can keep being your private housewife. Shame on you, Loess."

"I just... I can't cook the way you do.." He mumbled incoherently.

"No, you can't. He didn't get the chance to teach you." He chuckled.  "It's a deal then, if and when anything riles me up, I'll take it out on you."

"Wait, what?"

"No going back from the deal, kid."

"Whatever, fine. Beat me up all you want, I get free food anyway."

"You must be crazier than I."

Ignoring his statement, he texted Taurus back.

Big T [7:23pm]

Should I come pick you up?

Sent [7:40pm]

Nah I'm good. Gonna be a bit l8 though

See ya~

Ugh I can't pick up the bitch and bring her here then go back out again, that'd be so time consuming...

Idea.

"Mica, you're not doing anything this evening, right? You probably don't do anything at all."

"Just because I'm being nice doesn't mean you're privileged to insult me so smoothly. And, I'm going for a walk."

Loess squinted, "A walk? What does that mean for psychos? Marauding around in masks or something?"

"Yeah, sorry to dissapoint, but I'm not that kind of psychopath. My victims must see my face before they die. It'd be a loss and a sin if they didn't."

He's not only crazy, but also a narcissist, why am I doing this to myself? "Anyway, I need you to come with me to pick up Ajay."

Mica paused. "Who's Ajay?"

As they walked in the fading light of sunset, giggly whispers were heard, just barely, around.

Why are there so many girls out at this hour? Loess' grumpy self thought, even though it was only 8pm. The taller, dark-haired man trailing behind him was the reason for the hushed whispers of the bystanders, especially that group of girls who didn't have any fucking thing better to do in the fucking remainder of their goddamn lives.

"You know what, no reason but put on the mask." He took out the black nosemask from his coat pocket and making him lean down a bit so he could put it on for him.

Loess' fingers lingered behind his ears, then their eyes met, and a corner of Mica's lips perked up. Loess moved back, and his paced quickened as he walked along.

"So," Mica caught up easily. "Chief doesn't know you're going out at a time like this. Naughty, naughty."

"Don't you dare think of snitching on me, or I'll tell him your secret too." Loess threatened. "Speaking of, how come he didn't ask about your jumpsuit?"

"I told him I grew out of my clothes. And with the handcuffs, I told him they were taking too long with the keys."

"And he believed you?" He asked doubtedly.

"He can't say he won't." He replied with a devious grin. "And I won't snitch. You keep my secrets, I keep yours."

Oh yeah, "Um, what exactly did my dad t-tell you about me?"

"A lot. The earliest embarrassing one I remember was about your first crush~" His grin grew mischievously.

No. A redfaced Loess tripped over nothing, stumbling and almost falling over, but Mica caught him with his arm around his waist, pulling him back to hit his chest.

So close...

The man snickered behind him, leaning down to whisper, "Bugs Bunny, eh?"
