"HAHAHA… I wasn't wrong with you young blood. " Jaime laughs out loud.
" To think that a Wanderer would dare to enroll in a Guardian school. I never thought there'd still be a first time for me at something at this job and age." Jaime's quite fond of strong personalities. Not only because he can relate to them or anything like that, but because he's interested in fighting them when they reach their full potential. So to make things short he's a full-on battle junkie. He laughs a lot when he's also interested in something so he's quite the big military stereotype guy.
…
A few hours have already passed since the interview earlier but we were still on the move. The scenery didn't change at all even when a lot of time passed already. It's just constant ruins and broken structures. It's quite confusing honestly as there is a bunch of stuff from different countries scattered all over the place.
The first second you'd see some European words on the front of a ruined store, the next you'd see some middle eastern letters on broken signs, then a small Japanese stall is just lying on the road. Still somehow complete despite being made out of wood.
" That's the rift's fault. " Fiona says as she seems to have noticed me looking curiously at the different structures and letters scattered all around the city.
Yeah… It's quite different when you're seeing what you've read in real life. The sudden appearance of Inters caused multiple cataclysmic events to occur.
Rift was the general term used by the people to indicate the separation of massive terrestrial lands. Cities were split apart like it was a cracked cookie floating on water. Then you add the bits and pieces into a vortex making up a new island, yet it's from different locations of the cookie. This was why there are so many different cultures mixed in such places. It's because the island is also a mixture of different islands and countries.
As we continue on, we reached a bridge that somehow looked in pristine condition. This is probably made after the Rift happened as bridges from before the rift were already a part of the ocean depths.
The ocean was honestly calming. It's just constant blue, far from the mixed ruins that is Sector 7. They're complete opposites in the sense of how they look, but also in what they contain.
I mean If I was given the choice to go in Sector 7 or the Ocean, I'll go with Sector 7 any day. Sector 7 is just an unobtained and unraided Sector by humanity. There are still some dangers, but there are almost no Inters on it at all. The process of taking it back is almost in completion and the lizard from earlier was from a different Sector. The ocean, however, is a pit full of massive Inters ready to devour even the strongest Guardian.
" Hey look at that. We're finally at the border of Sector 10. " As I was distracted marveling at the odd sightings outside the window, Fionna points ahead of us. She nudges at my elbow to catch my attention.
But it wasn't even needed as who wouldn't see the massive wall going all the way to the horizon?
What the hell… I was fully expecting the wall too but its sheer size was just incredible for common sense. Well, it wasn't built by common sense as multiple Guardians built that wall with their abilities. Nonetheless, it's absolutely absurd how a bunch of individuals built a wall almost 30 meters tall going across this side of the island.
" Damn, no matter how many times I go in Sector 10, it still bores me to death with how long the transport is.
" It's an entire country if you compare it to the standards a bunch of years ago. I'd be more uncomfortable if we suddenly arrived at the end without getting bored. " The team members joke.
" Yeah, we're in between Korea and Japan if you use the old maps. Sector 10 is as big as the Philippines and we were almost in the middle when we found this guy here. " A serious yet passionate voice escapes from a small man who didn't look like a Guardian at all. He seemed more of a professor than a protector.
" Here's Charles with his daily history lessons. Shouldn't you just be a historian instead of a Guardian? " The team laughs as the vibe suddenly lightens up after a long time of traveling.
Only a few minutes later and we arrived in front of the gate. Now that I'm close, the wall just makes me uncomfortable due to the fact that it's towering over me.
When you add the fact that there are Inters taller than this wall, is absolutely bone-chilling.
" State your identity! " A Guardian on top of the wall, shouts out loud. How was he so audible despite being so high up? Abilities.
With his command, Jaime pops out of the jeep to peek his head so that the Border guards would get confirmation. Their teams did have some specialized vehicles with them, with the authority of the GRC, but that doesn't mean much in this world. A chaotic place filled to the brim with superhumans seems quite unstable I must say. A car could easily be replicated and stolen.
The entire human race isn't really that well known for being saints anyways.
After a few minutes of more confirmation. The gigantic gate finally opened as it splits in the middle letting out a deafening sound.
SKRRR!!! It screeches as a massive gust of wind hits us directly.
Fuck… that was so loud.
" HAHAHA! Don't become deaf kid. You still have a bright future ahead of you. " Jaime and the others just acted like nothing happened, showcasing their experience in this field.
Thud!
The gate was finally wide enough to fit us all through, so the cars immediately started entering Sector 7, otherwise known as Humanity's Last Line of Defense. Sector 7 is known as such due to obviously the existence of Sense inside, but also due to the fact that this is the original stronghold humanity used when they were only starting to fight and adapt against Inters. That's why it's the most developed and it's also filled with strong Guardians.
…
The other side of the wall was filled with the national defense force, or guardians working for the government and not their own guilds and companies. This was the best campsite for them anyways as it is the spot where an Inter is most likely to attack.
It took another hour by car to arrive in the urban areas of Sector 7.
Damn, I'm finally here. I still can't believe it though… It was just that wall separating life and death. The difference between Sector 10 and Sector 7 was like night and day. This place is bustling with life and culture. It was an exact copy of modern Earth. Like it was just all normal.
" We'll be heading to Sense directly after this as I received word from Ms. Ging that they've accepted your terms. I'm sure she'll explain it to you when we've arrived there. " Jaime says as we enter the bustling city.
Nice… It's finally getting started. A wide smile forms on my face unconsciously. This is just too exciting that I'm letting emotions just slip past my face.
