The A-Rankers

The raid team had just got inside the dungeon. Inside was a corridor with brick walls painted a deep green. As the raid team strolled through, Riynsu was glancing at the two other A-rankers. The walls started to get wider and wider until they had come to three different pathways.

"So, what do we do now?" One of the hunters asked.

"How about each of us split up into three groups? There are three A-ranks so, each one for each team."

Grinning, An A-ranker replied, "Good idea..."

So, Splitting into three teams of three, Riynsu was placed with Ayumi and Furukawa. The three teams then went into each entrance, to which they went to the left one. As they were wandering through the tunnel, they were having a conversation.

"So, I've gotta ask. What happened to you after the incident?" Furukawa asked Riynsu.

"Well... Apparently, Some team found me and then I was in the hospital."

"Is that so?"

"Yes. And did you hear that the team that found me never saw the statues? It was as if they disappeared."

"What?!"

Ayumi had shouted out in disbelief. She couldn't comprehend the fact that the bastards, who slaughtered most of their teammates, so-called 'disappeared'.

Furukawa could not believe his ears. "That should be impossible!"

"Well, that's what the investigators told me."

Furukawa then decided to forget the statues. It was all in the past and, the statues had now disappeared.

"Kurusu-san, I can't thank you enough for what you did."

"It's fine. I was the one who told you to go remember."

Ayumi interrupted their conversation, "It's not fine. You don't know how grateful my brother is to you. He was even going to name his future kid after you."

Ignoring Ayumi, Furukawa apologised, "I also have to say that it was wrong of me to just leave you there. I'm sorry."

"It's like I told you before. I told you to go. You had already offered to be the sacrifice." Riynsu told him. 'It's the others that selfishly left that should be apologising to us and the ones they let die.'

The tunnel they had been walking through the past couple of minutes had started to become narrower. They suspected that there was nothing here.

As they got deeper, their presumptions were correct as they had reached a dead end.

"Well, what now?"

"I guess we go back then."

The three of them then went back to the place they had started. They decided to take the middle entrance since it was the next one from the left. As they had walked through, they heard a scream. Rushing, they were met with one corpse on the ground, a man holding a sword while another was holding onto his leg, begging for their life.

"Please, I beg you! I'll give you anything!" A woman begged.

"Sure. Just gimme all your riches and, I'll let you go. Hahaha!" The man cackled.

The man, who had clearly just killed another hunter, turned out to be one of the A-rankers. So the other two were had matched. The woman then proceeded to take out all of her money and magic items. She then gave them to the A-ranker.

As the woman started to run, the A-ranker threw his dagger at her neck. The blade went right through the neck as it could be seen at the front. The woman then dropped to the ground with her blood pouring out of her. Laughing, the man walked over to her and took out his dagger.

"What the hell?!" Furukawa shouted.

"huh?" The man turned towards them. "Oh, look. One of the other teams is back."

"What did you do that for?!"

"Well, These low rankers here. They took a sleepy time before entrusting me with their riches." The A-rankers responded, pointing towards the corpses of the other two hunters he had just killed.

Furukawa was enraged, "How could you do that?! Turning on fellow hunters!"

"Well, those weaklings weren't even worth my time. Didn't even have anything good on 'em." The man replied with a smug look on his face.

"How dare you! You'll pa-" Furukawa said before getting knocked out.

"God! So damn noisy." A voice came from behind.

Riynsu and Ayumi quickly looked behind them, and they saw the other A-ranker covered in blood and a few magic items in his hands. It had appeared he was also in on the betrayal. He must have gotten those items from the other two that had gone with him.

"So you get anything good this time Arata?" The A-ranker before asked.

"Not really, just a couple of magic items and a couple of bucks, that's it." The guy now known as Arata responded.

"Now, what about these guys. Have you checked them out yet, Niko?"

"No, not yet. But they should have some goodies on them. I mean they're C and B ranked, and with that A-rank, you just knocked out, we'll get something worth our while."

Riynsu gritted his teeth. How could they talk about killing them right in front of their faces? Arata walked up to Riynsu and leaned to the side of him.

"Now, how about we just skipped to the part to where you give us your stuff, huh?" He said while Riynsu looked at him in the corner of his left eye.

Riynsu opened his inventory and got his spear out, putting it to Arata's neck. Arata felt it and looked down, seeing the tip of the spear aimed at his throat. Arata then jumped backwards, but unfortunately, Riynsu had brought the spear down and managed to hack on his arm. Riynsu pressed on further as the blade went through the wrist, dismembering Arata's hand.

"AHHH!!! MOTHERF-" Arata screamed out in pain.

Arata then looked at Riynsu with a rage. He pulled out his sword and started to swing at Riynsu. But, Riynsu just kept dodging his attacks as his left hand was no longer there.

Riynsu then held his spear and started attacking Arata's torso.

[You have used <<Rapid Strikes>>]

Riynsu attacked Arata's body with blinding speed. He was so fast that the spear looked like a blur. If you looked close enough, you could see ten blades floating around the spear attacking at the same time.

Arata's body then dropped to the floor as cuts surrounded his whole front, and blood spurted out of him. Riynsu then looked towards Niko, meeting his eyes.

"Why did you just let me kill him?" Riynsu asked him.

"Well, now that he's dead. That just means there's more for me. Fu Fu Fu Fu Fu..."
