Chapter four : Lucifer

The days were passing achingly slow now that I knew everything about her, it has been a week since I saw her. I got the information about her late that night and since then I couldn't seem to stop myself from looking at her file.

Everly Rose Madigan, soon to be 21, grew up in foster care and left at 16, since then was working on her own to pay her expenses. Her big green eyes stare back at me in the photograph, her brown hair down, she looks incredibly beautiful and young. I'd been staring at the photograph everyday since that night. I knew where she worked, where she lived and everything about her daily activities but I didn't want to barge into her life and scare her. I'll take it nice and slow. She is mine, I know it and soon she will too.

A knock on the door broke my trail of thoughts, Linda, my secretary entered, "Mr. Adler, the car is waiting for you. The meeting will start in five minutes."

"Okay. I'll be there." I got up and took my suit jacket off the hanger, I took a last look at my sweet girl and closed the file, putting it in the drawer I made my way out.

The rest of my day went by in closing a few deals and attending a few meetings but she was the one who was on mind, I just couldn't stop myself from thinking about her and somewhere deep down I didn't like it. I didn't like when someone held power over me, my fists clench but I soon dismiss the thought. I picked the intercom, "Linda don't arrange any meetings for today."

"But Mr. Adler you have a meeting with Mr. Osborne from the Osborne Corp." She said.

"Send David. I'm not free, not until tomorrow morning." I hung up. I've waited long enough and today it'll come to an end. Today she'll know who I truly am.

I wait across the café she works at, sitting behind in my car I stare out. "Sir, is it the girl you're looking for?" Alistair asked, "I saw her move out a few minutes ago. I think she'll return momentarily." He added.

"Mind your own business Alistair." I barked.

"Certainly." He smiled. Alistair had been working for me for over fifteen years now, he knew me inside out and it wasn't a surprise he knew about her too. I sighed and turned my gaze back to café and that's when I saw her. She was walking down the road, her hair bouncing with every step she took. She was dressed in a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt and she paced right inside the café.

A moment later I was out of the car and started toward the café. As I entered I could see the faces turn to me, it was normal. With a big stature like mine, it was hard to blend in. I immediately saw her standing behind the cashier's counter. She smiled as she took the order, and I could tell it wasn't genuine, something was bothering her. I made my way to her and stood in the line. Soon my turn arrived, her eyes still on the screen, "Good morning, welcome to Starlight café. May I take your order." She said cheerfully. I didn't answer.

Not getting any reply she looked up and froze, of course she recognized me, "You." She said accusingly and I barely catch it. I looked down in those emerald green eyes and smiled, "Surely you can. I'll take one of your specials."

"Uh...yes." she fumbled with the keys and then finally gives me the receipt. I took it slightly grazing my fingers over hers and then walked away. I waited for my order, all the time my eyes on her. She looked my way a few times but turned away seeing my eyes were fixed oh hers. It made my day seeing her try to ignore my presence. My phone buzzed in my pocket for a thousandth time and I finally picked up, "What is it Linda?"

"Sir there's an important matter you have to deal with. It's imperative for you to return."

I sighed, knowing Linda was a professional and her calling me these many times would only mean business. I took a final look at her, she was still taking orders and then headed out to the car. "That was fast." Alistair said.

"I know. Back to the company." I said. Without any further questions he ignited the engine.
