'Kitten.'

His voice was husky from lack of sleep and his eyes bloodshot from the tears he cried for the first time in a long time.

His fingers found their way to her hair, stroking her soft silk locks as she lay there motionless. He'd been sitting in the exact same spot for two days, two days that she was in a coma and now, she'd woke up, woke up to the world she had tried to leave. Woke up the man she had tried to forget.

Her parents didn't know she was in the hospital, no one had been informed. He knew the doctor and she was an adult, he was thankful that he didn't have to deal with Jane and Chris's questions. He couldn't deal with anyone or anything during those two days. He'd been so broken over his kitten that he wanted nothing but to see her open her eyes. He wasn't allowed in her room but he had turned the hospital upside down for them to let him stay with her, to let him watch over her, in the end, he'd been successful.
