Anos wasn't surprised at all, but Suzu looked completely stunned.
There was something about him like his whole vibe had shifted. His clothes were the same as before, but the aura he gave off now felt intense.
Majestic, even. And those eyes... Suzu wasn't sure if she was still looking at the same Person.
"What's wrong? You look surprised," Anos said, leaning casually against the door with a small smile.
"Your Majesty… your eyes...?" Suzu stammered.
"Hmm? Oh, this? Looks good, right?" he said, chuckling lightly.
"Um… yeah, I guess…" Suzu muttered, unable to take her eyes off him. Sure, he looked a little different now, but that weirdness only added to his charm.
For some reason, it was impossible to look away. Especially for women his presence was like some kind of magnet.
Today, Anos was dressed in a sleek, casual outfit: a blue-and-white checkered jacket over a black engraved shirt with gold-trimmed cuffs.
He kept things simple, no flashy jewellery or anything, just a slim black belt with a golden sheen.
His slim-fitting black trousers only added to his already tall and imposing figure. Honestly, Suzu was starting to feel like this was almost unfair.
Seeing Suzu's flustered expression, Anos sighed and turned to the maid nearby. "Mina, bring over the items I requested. Once that's done, take a break."
"Yes, Your Majesty," Mina said before hurrying off.
As the maid left, Anos walked into the courtyard and plopped down on a chair. He looked at Suzu, his expression unreadable.
"Do you know why I called you here?" he asked.
"No idea, Your Majesty," Suzu said honestly.
Anos didn't waste any time explaining. With a flick of his hand, over twenty wooden boxes appeared on the table in front of them.
The boxes were beautiful, but what was inside them left Suzu completely speechless.
"These are Devil Fruits," Anos said as if it was no big deal. "Your job is to figure out what kind they are, label them, and stick a note on each box."
"D-Devil Fruits?!" Suzu gasped, staring at the table in disbelief.
Devil Fruits were practically legendary in the Tru Kingdom. Having so many in one place was like something out of a fairy tale.
Suzu was one of the few people in the kingdom who'd ever seen the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia.
No one knew where she'd come across it, but she was considered the local expert on the subject.
Anos, on the other hand, had never bothered with that book. It wasn't useful to him. Besides, Suzu could handle this kind of thing.
Even though Anos could identify the fruits through his own methods, it came with a hefty price tag of tens of millions of Beris per fruit. And honestly? He wasn't about to waste that kind of money.
Suzu's hands trembled as she opened the first box. When she saw what was inside, her doubts vanished. These were the real deal.
"Your Majesty… where did you even get all of these?" Suzu asked, still in shock.
"Don't worry about that. Just focus on identifying them," Anos replied with a wave of his hand.
He wasn't worried about anyone snooping. His courtyard was practically off-limits to everyone except Mina. No one else would dare step foot here.
Once these fruits were identified, Anos had plans to send them to Skypiea, where they'd be put to better use.
The Tru Kingdom already had about 30 Devil Fruit users, most with pretty average powers, but every fruit had its perks. Nothing here was going to waste.
Suzu picked up the first box and studied it closely. "This one is the Zoan-type Cat-Cat Fruit. It's agility-focused, giving the user crazy speed and incredible jumping skills. But... it's just a standard Zoan fruit, no special mutations."
"That's fine. Write it down and stick the label on the box," Anos said, leaning back in his chair.
He wasn't expecting anything too extraordinary from this batch. Finding rare and powerful Devil Fruits was tough.
Even the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia had more than 30,000 entries, and who knows how many more fruits weren't even listed?
Still, this batch came from Mariejois. With any luck, there'd be at least a few gems hidden in there.
