The duty of the Marines is to maintain law and order throughout the world and impose the will and might of the World Government. The main purpose of the Marines is to bring any criminal to justice, with a particular focus on capturing pirates and enforcing the law. Marines constantly patrol the seas and uphold the peace.
Amongst their duties is awarding bounty hunters the bounties for the head of a criminal. They tolerate bounty hunters as a method of making their jobs easier but are known to go out bounty hunting themselves. Apprehended criminals who are brought in alive are handed over to be made an example of. The Marines are left to ensure the transportation of these criminals to prison and/or to their execution.
The system of military rank in place for the Marines is fairly straightforward, where each rank is clearly outlined. The Marines can be divided into two basic categories: Officers and Enlisted. The officers hold a position of leadership while the enlisted carry out the officers' orders. A Marine force will usually consist of one or two officers and multiple enlisted soldiers.
The ranks within the Marines from highest to lowest are as follows

Enlisted and Non-Commissioned Officers Rank

Marineford was the island of the base of operations for Marine Headquarters, where now the Marine Base G-1 is situated. It is where former Fleet Admiral Sengoku and the Admirals resided, along with many Vice Admirals and lower officers when they were not assigned to another base. The city surrounding Marineford was inhabited by the families of Marine soldiers.
It is situated near the Sabaody Archipelago and directly next to Mary Geoise on the Red Line. The only safe way to reach Marineford is through the Gates of Justice.
Since I just joined, it was reasonable for me to start as a Chore Boy... which Garp was more than happy to make me do. but this led to another fight between us falling out, and this time it was near Noon, so the damage Marine HQ suffered was great, forcing not just Songoku to step forward, but even the Admirals to step forward to break off the fight.
Ice shot from afar, shooting towards me. but as the Ice neared me, wanting to seal me away, the ice melted before it could even near me. I ignored the ice and kicked off the ground to go meet Garp who was shooting towards me with a smile, while I just glared at the old man.
Boom
A fist that carried the power of the sun, and a fist that carried the power of love clashed... well, it wasn't a clash, as I felt the impact of Garp Fist before I even met with Garp.
"You 10 years too early brat!" Garp said with a grin, my pupils shrank seeing how I was being overwhelmed even at Noon. Garp's grin grew seeing the look of shock on my face, before he pushed forward, sending me rocketing away while coughing up a mouthful of blood.
"GARP!" Songoku roared in rage seeing the damage which was many times worse than the clash from just a few hours ago.
"What?" Garp asked while looking at his fist, he couldn't help but sigh seeing how old age had weakened him. In the past, he wouldn't have needed to infuse his conqueror haki into his attack, but he had no choice as his Armament Haki alone wasn't enough to protect him from the heat I gave off.
Songoku almost popped a blood vessel at Garp attitude about the matter, he looked at the ground which had turned into lava from my body heat alone, the sea which had begun to boil, and the impact of our shock waves which further left the HQ in a worse condition
He glared towards where I was at. Marineford is a crescent moon-shaped island that is composed completely of bricks and steel, with cannons on the edges. I was in such steel, which was already melting thanks to my body heat, but that didn't bother me as I simply looked at Garp, before looking towards the sky. Noon had just passed, and my strength was dropping,
'I should take some time to train...' I thought, annoyed feeling the bones in my fist that had shattered. but with my recovery speed, and the fact I was within the sun, I began to quickly recover.
Sighing, I got out of the steel walls, before getting on top of it as the sea was below me. I sighed while walking towards Garp, thinking of how on earth I should master Conqueror Haki to the level of Garp.
"And, You! Do you think I will do nothing to you!" Songoku yelled angrily as soon as I arrived. I have assly looked at him while I dug in my nose to clean it. It was below me to have a dirty nose.
"He provoked me, I was simply sticking up for myself, or else it would show I'm an easy target to be bullied," I said lazily, making Songoku almost cough up blood. He glared towards Garp, just to see Garp also cleaning his nose, but something arrived to help distract him from this. someone stepped in front of me,
He was an incredibly tall, light-skinned, unusually muscular man. A man who men feared, and currently was glaring at me with killing intent... this was Sakazuki, an admiral. part of his body was turning into lava, clearly showing how he wanted to kill me right now.
"Someone like you isn't fit to be a Marine. you're nothing more than the son of a criminal " He said coldly, to which I just half-assly looked at the man before smirking. Garp seeing this felt unease as he grew serious
"So, the fact my dad is a criminal means I would follow in his footsteps? Is that what you're saying?" I asked, but I didn't let him answer the question.
"If that is so, that means you would also follow in your parent's footsteps as well. the last I checked, your parents didn't make it to 30 years old and were killed by pirates... why are you in your 40s? Are you not bringing shame to your bloodline?" I asked making the air go quiet.
"What? The shock that you should be the same as your parents hit you? or are you different? what are you waiting for? are you going to follow your parent's footsteps, or continue blocking my way? Even a good dog knows not to block the road... seeing as you're the world's noble little bitch, I expected you to act like a good one. a failure as a son, and as a bitch. what else do you have to offer?" I said as the air turned chilling cold, slowly the heat in the air turned boiling, as Sakazuki's killing intent reached heights never seen before.
Without a second thought, Sakazuki roared with bloodshot eyes as he punched me. My cells roared to life as energy gathered into my fist, infused with Armament Haki, before I punched forward to meet Sakazuki Lava's fist.
Sakazuki ate the magma-magma no mi, a devil fruit that turned him into a pretty much magma man. He held a lot of firepower... get it, firepower.
To say the least, he was stronger than me, but it was not as overwhelming as with Garp. Garp was on a level of his own, although his strength would continue to drop, but he would still be strong enough to hold his own against the likes of Sakazuki.
I was sent flying backward from our clash, Sakazuki shot after me, but his eyes narrowed when he saw me do something I didn't do in my short battle with Garp. placing my thumb to the side, I put my pointy finger and middle finger together, before putting my ring finger and pinky finger together, forming the illusion of a dragon claw.
This was Dragon Martial Art, Dragon Claw. Of course, as his son, I learned it... and I put my unique touch to it. it was not a simple Dragon Claw, but a Sun Dragon Claw. my solar energy gathered at the tip of my fingers, while I gave off the feeling of a sun dragon facing off against my enemy.
Sakazuku lava was the first to arrive before me, sending a sea of it to try and swallow me. I didn't waste any time and spun my body while my dragon claw took hold of the lava, this caused the lava to spin around me while I absorbed all of its heat, before sending the remains back to Sakazuki who was caught off guard by this, but even so, he didn't bother to dodge as he let the dried up lava fly through his body, just for it to do no damage as he was a lava man.
He was about to attack me once more, just to see me place my dragon claws together, and from there all of the energy I just absorbed gathered. the illusion of a dragon opening up its mouth, showing the fireball that it was channeling was given off, but in my case, it wasn't a fireball, but a mini sun. It sounded like it took a long time, but it was quick.
"I might not be a pirate, but I can help you make your parents proud. what is a good son who doesn't follow in their family's footsteps?" I asked while pulling my hands apart, and as if it was some kind of Kamehameha, I moved the mini sun to my side, before I launched the mini sun forward... before quickly getting away from it as I couldn't control it.
Garp was the first person to move, as he pushed Sakazuki away, and punched the sun, sending it flying into the sky, the sun flew away at such high speed that it disappeared from everyone's sight... until it exploded. like a nuclear bomb that went off, clearing the sky of any clouds.
"What were you thinking?" Garp yelled at me, to which I shrugged with an innocent look.
"A scary angry man was in my face, what was I supposed to do? kill him with kindness? Plus, it was focused on only exploding within 5 meters. you unstabilized it and made it unstable. it's not like it even had the power to damage anyone beyond 10 meters." I said with a shrug. that right there was my strongest attack, and once launched, for a short few seconds, within 5 meters, the dorm which burns with the heat of the sun would be created, leaving not even ashes behind as the atoms would be ripped apart.
if the range was increased from 5 meters to greater, then it would be far weaker. it would be like what was seen in the sky, the light wasn't even bright enough to blind those below.
"Thats not the point, he is your superior," Garp said seriously,
"Who is above me?" I asked with a confused look, causing the words Garp wanted to say to be caught in his mouth.
"Like the sun, I stand above everyone. no one is my superior, and thats even more so for the failure of a son, and a bitch." I said calmly, causing Sakazuki's face to turn bright red in rage.
"Enraged? people normally get angry at the truth, unable to accept the reality face before them. So accept it, you ain't shit, and you will never be shit... and on that note, I came to realize one thing about being a marine." I said calmly,
"What makes marines any different from pirates?" I asked making Garp's heart drop.
"What are you saying" Songoku asked with a cold glare which was clearly warning me to watch my words.
"Pirates rob people, they kill and do all other bad stuff... what do marines do? they destroy islands killing thousands or millions. The world government says something, then the Marines throw their ideas of justice out of the window. tell me, why is slavery still a thing? How is it that there are people that stand above the law? you all make the rules but bend them however you like, walking hypocrites, no wonder my dad left... and I'm shocked that my grandpa can stand here saying he is proud to be a hypocrite." I said with a mocking smile, my voice wasn't soft, loud enough for everyone to hear it.
"Sora, you will watch your words," Songoku said as his body began to glow with a faint golden glow.
"What? The truth hurts? well, you all know the truth, you just love spreading your cheeks open. Let's think about it for a moment. Ohara? how many people were slaughtered that day for 'justice'? what is justice? well, I will tell you what I think justice is." I said ignoring the glares aimed at me.
"Justice is... targeting something at its roots. let's face it, justice is just an illusion all of you are running after, so long as the world nobles exist justice is impossible. lie to yourselves that you're doing something when at the end of the day, you're protecting the problem. you are all no different from pirates, you all just justify your actions. I'm a man who straight forward and honest with myself, I don't create some lie or illusion to live by." I said calmly.
"For that, i'm out. It was cool while it lasted... but I respect myself too much to lie to myself, I'm no one's bitch. for that, The respect I had for you old man just dropped, hitting rock bottom. I have no idea how people like you have conqueror haki." I said while turning to leave,
"Capture him dead or alive," Songoku said but he didn't have to say a thing as Sakazuki made a move before anyone could... but I just jumped into the sky, a sun forming under my feet, which I used to fly. Sitting on the sun, I looked down at everyone while shaking my head.
"Absolute justice? Lazy Justice? unclear Justice... All I see are people who love spreading their cheeks. But don't worry, I could care less for justice or whatever. I mind my business, and you all mind your own. If I see a bounty of me pop up, well, don't blame me." I said loud enough for them to hear.
They of course tried to attack me, but with me controlling the sun, I could easily dodge all of their attacks. Plus, so long as it was morning, I pretty much had an endless amount of energy to call upon. The sun wasn't slow, and I quickly shot off, leaving Songoku glaring at Garp who had a downcast look.
