Invitation

She had finished the dishes and the rest of the house chores with her grandma assisting her.

She was in her room reading a novel when suddenly her phone rang. She walked to her bed and picked up her phone. It was Lisa calling. She rolled her eyes and said within herself. 'Now what is it this time'.

"Hello Jane." Lisa said over the phone sounding excited about something.

"Hello, Lisa." Jane said in a normal tone.

"How are you today?" She asked excitedly biting her lower lip.

"I'm good and you?" She said walking back to her chair where she was sitting reading her novel.

"Good too."

"So what's up. Why are you sounding so super excited today?" She asked after a brief silence.

"Nothing really."

"Unbelievable. The almighty Lisa I know will not be excited without a reason." She answered in shock as those words left from her friend's lips over the phone.

"Hahaha, you seem to know me well now, uhn."

"Hmm. Is it a party? A yacht party? Are you going out of town again for a party? Tell me." She said sounding like this whole thing is just too boring for her.

"Hahaha. Jeez, and what if I say it's none of those but is indeed a party?"

"I knew it. But it's a still a party, right. Okay, so I'd love to hear what the almighty Lisa is so excited about today."

"Hahaha, okay, okay now. I'll tell you. But first make a guess." She sounded like a kid.

"Arrrgh," slapping her palm on her forehead, "just spit it out already. You know I'm not good at guessing."

"Okay, fine. You're such a boring human being." She paused and continued, still in her excited tone. "My friend's parents will be having their wedding anniversary tonight."

"Okay. Soooooooo?" She said sounding confuse not knowing why her friend is telling her that.

"I'm inviting you over."

"Jeez Lisa. Don't you have no shame left in you?"

"Gosh Jane. What did I do now? I only invited you to a wedding anniversary and not a night club." The excitement slowly faded away.

"That's the point Jane. You're the one who got invited by them and not me."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk." She made those sounds and shook her head. "My dear friend, I know you'd say that. But don't worry. I've already taken care of things." She said very proud of herself like she had some work done.

"Arrrgh, goodness gracious. You're such a headache." She said annoyingly.

"Hahaha. As long as it's you, I don't mind if you have tons of headache. Just make sure I'm the one giving you those pretty headaches." She said playfully.

Jane chuckled and shook her head. "And why are you only telling me this now?"

"Urghh. Fine. I apologize. I really forgot. It really skipped my mind to pass the information to you. I thought I'd tell you when you dropped by my house yesterday, but it also skipped my mind again. My apologies Jane. But all those don't really matter, right. All that matters now is that I told you before time." She said still sounding excited.

"Okay. And what if I decline?" Asked Jane in a normal but cold voice. Sounding like she's really not interested.

Lisa jumped down from her bed and this time now furious. "What is the matter with you uhn? I only invited you to a wedding anniversary and not a club. I never invited you to any club parties, beach parties, and so on. This is the first time I'm actually asking you to come along with me and you're refusing. I put in so much effort to get things done so we can attend the party. And this is all you have to say. You'll decline the invitation? You're not coming? Uhn... Seriously Jane." Lisa was screaming from the top of her voice at her.

Jane knew she was right after all. Though Lisa liked going to clubs and all sort of parties, she never invited her to come along. She knew how Lisa would say to her that sometimes that she wish she was like her, Jane. She's really been such a good friend to Jane. Sometimes sacrificing her own time or busy schedule just to spend some time with Jane. Sometimes, Jane wished she could do something for her but there was nothing.

She understood her reaction and she had the right to be angry at her at that moment.

Jane's brows knitted tightly. "Can you calm d...."

"Calm down? Tsk. You are really telling me to to calm down?" Still angry.

Jane let out a sigh and spoke. "Okay, fine angry tigress." She said teasing her. "You're such a drama queen. I'll attend to the party. Happy?"

Lisa screamed in joy over the phone. Sending her flying kisses. "You're the best my little wormio. I love you." She said excited.

"Gosh," she said shaking her head. "So when is the party?"

"6pm."

"Okay"

"Will you drop by my house." Her voice now calm.

"Hmmm"

"Okay, okay. See you then my little wormio." She teased.

"Haha. You really are annoying."

"Mhmm. Like I said, it's my energy booster."

"Haha. Okay. Fine. See ya."

"Yeah. Bye ..."

"Bye Lisa". She said as she hunged the call.
