I Miss Her

She woke up quite early than the other day. Her mouth opened up wide, yawning and rubbing her eyes. She walked to her window and opened it. The sky was so clear. It was as if rain hadn't fallen from the previous day. The birds were chirping. She slept back again after shedding tears from last night not realizing when she dozed off. Slowly, the dream from last night played in her head. She broke out again sitting on the chair and lying her head on the table next to her window.

"No...No...." She turned her head left and right as if telling herself it was not true. "I'm sorry... I'm..." She continued to wail out.

Some minutes passed by when she stopped crying from the images that played in her head. She gently wiped away her tears and stood up. She strolled to her bed and said her morning prayers, took her bath and cleaned her room. She headed downstairs to go meet her grandma in the kitchen.

"Good morning grandma." She greeted kissing both her cheeks.

"I see you're now looking better than a while ago." She said touching her forehead and her neck.

"Yes grandma." She answered hugging her grandma. "Thank you grandma."

"Hmmm , you're welcome my dear. Just avoid the rain next time so you would end up catching a cold. Alright?"

"Okay grandma. I'll try my best next time." She said pulling away from the hug.

"Uhmmm, grandma. Where's dad?" She asked as she didn't find her dad in the parlour nor in the kitchen.

"He went out to do some work but will be back shortly after that."

"Oh...okay."

"You need to eat now to regain your strength." Said her grandma who was already arriving with a plate of food on her hand.

"Yes grandma." She said sitting down.

Her grandma's food were delectable. Her mouth watered by just smelling it. The nice aroma coming out from the food could make a hungry stomach growl even more. A flash of memory appeared in her head. She remembered when she was still a little girl, she would always cry to grandma to prepare her food for her than her mom's.

She smiled lightly at the thought of that but that happy smile slowly turned to a sad one.

"What's wrong dear." Her grandma asked noticing the change of expression on her face.

"It's nothing. I just.....I...." She couldn't finish her sentence as her voice was breaking and tears threatening to fall down her eyes. "I miss mom a lot." She said now this time completely breaking down.

Her grandma hugged her from behind. "It's alright dear. We all miss her too." She said in a very calm voice. "I'm sure she misses you a lot too."

The tears rolling down her eyes were now heavy as if trying to flood the whole kitchen. Some droplets of tears fell down her food while her grandma tightened her hug, telling her it's okay.

"You know what? When you cry, you look like the beast in 'Beauty and the Beast." She said teasingly.

"Hahahaha, grandma, you're funny." She laughed still with tears in her eyes.

"It's a no joke. You really look uglier than him anytime you cry."

"Hahahaha," she laughed wiping away her tears. "I think you should be a comedian grandma." She added staring up at her.

"Hahaha, really? You think I'd make a good one?"

Jane held her grandma's hand motioning her to stand at her front. She stood up and smiled at her grandma.

"I don't think so. I know so. You'll make the best comedian the world has ever known." Her voice now returning to normal.

They laughed and her grandma cupped her face wiping the remaining tears on her face.

"Now you look more beautiful when you smile." She said with enough emotions and her lips curved up.

"I love you granny. You're the best. The best of all the best. I love you so much." She told her hugging her grandma tightly.

"I love you too." She said returning the same feeling from her grandchild. "It's okay now. It's time to eat and get some rest now."

"Yes grandma." She said as she pulled away from the hug and sat down, started digging from her plate.
