An Hour

She felt butterflies in her tummy as her cheeks had turned real red from smiling and blushing. She tried to hide her smile as he entered the car.

"Don't blush too much." He said coldly not staring at her.

Her blush and her smile increased as he said that. She tried not to surface it, but it ended up breaking it's shell by force.

"Why did you do that?" She asked blushing and smiling.

He said nothing and started the car engine.

"Thank you." She said smiling not knowing the exact reason he did that. But when he called her 'wife' there was a feeling of spark that was sent all through her body. How she wished that would turn into reality.

Her happiness made her stomach growl in joy and in hunger. She suddenly regained back her lost appetite. A big smile lit her face as she stared at the man driving. She breathed in the air of happiness and started eating her burgers. It tasted better than any other days.

***

It was past noon when he reduced the car's acceleration. She looked outside and her face lit up with a big smile. This part of the country was all sunny and not covered with ice. The citizens were busy having their time in the sunny weather. The hot sun slapped her face as she rolled down the glass windows and inhaled the warm breeze. She whipped her head to him in shock as the car's speed accelerated high again. She had thought they'll be stopping here.

Few minutes later, the car stopped in a dissoluted place. She got off the car after he did, and she examined everywhere. The place was a sandy area near a blue sea. There was only a wooden house seen on the sandy place. It looked like nobody lived in the area.

She followed sooth behind him as he headed to the beautiful wooden house. The inner house didn't look like that of the outside. She didn't have to think twice to guess this was his. The house was in all red and black like his other one. It was a one storey building but it was still fancy.

They walked in to the bedroom and he took something at the bedside drawer.

"Where are you going to?" She asked as she saw his hasty actions.

He halted his steps. Though his looks were expressionless, she could sense a cold aura coming out from him.

"Don't step out of the building till I return."

She was about retorting when he spoke. "Can't you quit being stubborn for once and just do as I say." He said in almost screaming voice.

Her heartbeat fastened as a thought passed through her mind. "Are...are those creatures here?" She asked with eyes wide opened searching his eyes.

He sighed trying to keep his cool. "Yes Jane."

Her body began to tremble in fear as she recalled what the creature did to her.

He gently held her shoulders as he saw the horrified look on her face. "I don't want something bad to happen to you. I'm afraid if this could worsen this time around. So just stay home for now till I get back."

"But when...."

"I'll be back in an hour time."

"But...."

"They won't be able to come near you or hurt you if you stay in the house."

She hugged him tight across his waist as tears rolled down her cheek.

"What about you? Will you be fine?"

He sighed. "Jane, I told told you a million times to stop bothering about me. You should only be bothered about yourself." He said in a reassuring tone.

Her tears rolled down more. "How should I not worry about you? How do you expect to be calm? Just how should my mind be at peace when you're going to those creatures again. What if something..." Her hug tightened as she refused to let those last words come out from her mouth. She didn't want that to happen.

He gently pulled her away from the hug and wiped her tears. "If you want me to be fine, promise me you'll have to stay safe by not stepping out of the house no matter what. I'll only be fine once I know that you're safe. Is that clear?"

Another set of tears rolled down and she nodded her head.

"That's good. I'll be back in an hour."

He was about taking his leave when she caught hold of his hand making him turn and staring at her. "If...if you don't come back in exact an hour time, I'll step out of the house and come looking for you."

He sighed and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. "An hour and it's a promise."

She stared at him and blinked her eyes. "Okay." She said letting out a faint smile and he left.
