That night while she and her mother cleaned up after dinner, Brinn asked, "Mother, have you and Father found out where I will be placed this fall, what I will be learning?"
Her mother smiled. "You know we aren't supposed to find out until end of summer." Her mother leaned toward her. " Between you and me," she whispered, "make sure you finish that warm quilt you've been making. I hear the mountains can be very cold in the winter."
Brinn gave a small squeal and hugged her mother. Then she put the last bowl away and headed to her room to sew.
