Training

As we walked home together I felt happier than ever, I knew I was on my real first steps to achieve my goals. Father opened the front door to see mother with a huge bowl of fruit in her hands,

"Sorry we're late!" He called as he walked in.

"Oh good your back! I made just enough for the three of us!" She said, gesturing for us to sit down and eat with her.

We sat down, grabbed our wooden forks and began to pick out of the massive wooden bowl.

"Mmmmm… After this I have to go chop some firewood, and then go into the nearby market for some meats." Father said, listing his tasks for the day.

"Father I can go get some firewood if you want while you go into the market." I said, I wanted to learn as much as I could from him so I made it a point to do him any favors I could.

"Thank you! That'll be a great help!" He said, a perky smile on his face.

I left my fork at the table and went outside to start chopping, I had to get a lot since winter was coming. I grabbed father's axe and went back into the woods, I began chopping trees down left and right, leaving them laying on the crisp green brush. After I had chopped three trees I dragged the first two back home, laying them near the back of the house. Before I could go get the third one I heard a piercing cry from inside the village. "Stop thief!" A feminine voice cried. Without knowing what I was doing my body just began to rapidly move towards the cry, faster and faster until eventually I was seconds behind the thief.

"Stop!" I barked, I kept following the thief and he eventually ran himself into a corner. I was barely out of breath, axe in hand I was ready to fight. "Drop whatever you stole, and come with me nice and easy." I said, trying to smooth over the situation.

"I can't! She'll kill me if I don't come back with something! Please just let me go!" The thief cried, fear dripping from his voice.

"Who is going to kill you?" I asked.

"Storm!" His voice shook as he said the name, then it clicked.
