“Is that Tanner?” I asked.

Coop took a monocular from his pocket, grinning when I lifted an eyebrow. “Never leave home without it, if I’m planning on doing recon.” He focused in on the man, who was pacing the office, and nodded. “It’s him.”

“So one problem solved. We’re in the right place.”

“We are. Now all we need to do is figure out how to get rid of him without it coming back on us. I don’t want to have a repeat of what’s already going on, if one of his cohorts decides to take over, and take me out,” Coop said.

“That would not be nice.”

“No shit.”

We left the roof, since there was nothing more we could do there at that point. As Coop said, “We can’t kill him in broad daylight with witnesses around. That would be the height of stupidity.”

I agreed with him.
