Died and met Satan (1/2)

I am Storm, a Legendary Mercenary that haunts the Middle East, and I remember dying.

The next thing that came was a surprising moment of nothingness, followed by a weird cooling sensation that seemed to soothe my entire body.

There have only been a few times in my life where I have felt as relaxed as I presently is. The first is a half-forgotten memory of a woman holding on to me, her only characteristic was the smile glued to her face. The second was from another memory, this one even more forgotten of a little girl holding my hand in a ship, and her long curvy black hair that flowed with the wind.

These were the foremost times in my life that I ever remember feeling at peace.

Which is why my eyes shoot open, and I immediately put up my guard. Ever since I found myself in never-ending conflict there had been no time to relax, no time to be happy nor to put aside my attention. A moment of weakness spelling my doom was the very first lesson taught to me.

It was the sea, as far as I could see there was only water until the horizon, there was not a single wave, nor any disturbance in the waters, a completely calm sea, as if I were looking at a pond.

I was standing on the water without sinking.

That struck you as wildly bizarre, but I stifled the surprise deep within my mind and locked it away. Showing any type of emotion could lead to oversights, and now that I am in potential enemy territory errors could not be tolerated.

"You." A deep sound echoed in the peaceful area, the voice was unlike anything I had ever heard before. It was old, its voice carrying so much age through it that even I who had never taken an interest in history before could not help myself from wondering how many things someone carrying such a voice has witnessed.

I don't allow myself to freeze or hesitate, whoever captured me didn't seem fit to take away any of my weapons, they were underestimating me, that was good, I could use that against them.

Upon turning around, ready to fight the ones who brought me to this strange place, my trusty pistol already up and ready to aim at any target, I freeze in shock. My earlier statement was entirely forgotten.

Before me, stands a ginormous spiral-like crystallized amalgamation, its body so wide I can barely see the ocean of water behind it, and so tall I can't even begin to understand where it starts and where it ends.

Kinda looked like a worm weirdly enough.

As I look at these ginormous eldritch beings, one thought circles around my head.

"I'm gonna need a bigger gun."

The being ignored me, either not noticing or not caring, "You are the defying star, the shardless who is boundless, the one who shall free this world from its broken cycle."

The worm mountain monster was speaking nonsense, if I was lucky enough it wouldn't notice how I took off running as soon as it started speaking, taking the chance that it was too distracted talking to stop me.

"You are the chosen one, and you- Wait, what, where are you going?Anywhere but here, without a large enough gun and enough explosives to make a superpower green in envy, I wasn't going to stick around a huge creature who was more prone to kill me by rolling around than anything else.

Besides, I was not the chosen one.

"Oi! Don't you run from me you fucking asshole!" Too bad, that was exactly what I was doing.

Except a strange pressure took hold of my limbs, as if chains had wrapped around them and were begging to pull me back towards the ginormous monster.

Frowning at my limbs, I took notice that nothing seemed to hold them. What in the world was going on, could it possibly be an invisible rope? I do remember this rumor that camouflaged weapon technology was making rounds in Africa a few months ago, but they were just baseless rumors!

"Wormdamit, making me work for this, literally the first prayer I answer in billions of years and the guy has the audacity to run away, the fucking nerve." My unmoving body started to slide along the edge of the water, the ocean seemingly coming to life and moving me back to my original spot, before somehow being spun around to face the eldritch creature once again.

Movement soon returned, "Where was I? Uh-hum! You are the- Are you fucking kidding me?!"

As soon as freedom returned to my limbs I started booking it again, not even taking mind to what the creature was saying. All that I got from it was that it brought me here because it heard my prayer.

Which is weird, since I never prayed to anyone. I had heard of religions, but it seemed odd to believe in such things while battles were breaking out every other day, and I kept on killing to survive.

Did that make the giant creature a god?

Oh, maybe this was hell?

Well, it seemed like hell was against me, as was expected, because my body froze, completely paralyzed.

That was impossible, ever since my expedition into African soil, I have trained your body to pick up on all signs of poison and to build up a respectful resistance towards any narcotics or otherwise paralyzing agents.

What type of poison was this?

No, if this is hell, then the devil must be its owner. Of course, the devil will have a strong enough drug to bypass my defenses.

Once again, the once peaceful sea now had currents that took hold of my unmoving body and brought me back to the foot of the Devil. Who even without seeing its face I could tell was exhausted from the previous events.

Good, perhaps it would soon be too tired to stop me from running away. Except this time my body continued to be paralyzed, only my face gained the ability to move once again.

Huh, weirdly enough I hadn't taken a single breath since I got here.

"You done? Can I finish talking before you run off again?" The annoyance in its tone told me everything I needed to know about how I should answer it.

Yes, there was information that was needed, a confirmation of the truth that could either damn me or allow for a second of relief.

Pointing my nose towards the, perhaps God Like being, I spoke.

"You, Satan?"
