I made a late breakfast of eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I was pretty sure I ate more than Luke but I was too hungry to care. At least he ate something.
“I’m going to go look after the animals,” he stated after we had finished eating. “Need anything before I head out?”
“Mind if I tag along?” I asked and instantly regretted saying it. Maybe he wanted to be alone.
“Not at all. But I’m not so sure it will be much fun for a city girl to watch me shovel horse manure.”
“Oh, I think it sounds thrilling actually. I totally have a thing for cowboys, remember? Clint Eastwood and all…” I teased.
“Alright then.” He laughed. “But you may wanna put some different shoes on.”
“I just so happen to have the perfect pair.”
I went to the guest room and slipped my new boots on.
When Luke saw them upon my return, he chuckled.
“What?”
“Those boots and your city girl slacks. They’re quite… a fashion statement.” He laughed.
