chapter 4

The waiter led Layla to a comfortable place, close to the window "what will you have miss, please go through the menu and tell me what to get for you", "could you just prepare me some fresh shrimp please and while you're at that, I'll appreciate some vegetable salad" Layla said as she read through the menu "your shrimp might take a while ma'am, I'll just choose it for you since you look a bit tired and I'll get the salad right away, excuse me", the waiter said and went to get her order. While Layla waited she began to think of a way to get the waiter to lend her his phone, "he seemed pretty jovial, I'm sure he wouldn't mind" she thought.

Everyone who saw her even from afar couldn't help but acknowledge her serene beauty, seated close to the window, she seemed to light up the whole place, one couldn't get tired of looking at that beautiful face but even though she looked like an angel who was down to earth, no one dared to approach her, even if they were dying to, she was the definition of Pulchritudinous, her delicate face screamed innocence and grace and her figure was one even models only dreamed of.

Layla and her younger sister took after their mother and father in looks, they were a combination of the two while Vincent looked more like their mom.

"Hello enchantress, I pray this seat isn't taken, if you don't mind may I?" Layla heard someone say, when she looked up she wasn't very impressed, this man in Infront of her looked dashing but his dress was casual, she didn't care about status but this man sounded cocky so she expected someone in a suit "yes please, you may" she replied gracefully. All the men who had watched Layla from afar sighed inwardly.

The man in front of her suddenly felt giddy as his excitement right now knew no bounds "what a lovely voice, beautifully made, just for an angel, Jaden is the name" he said as he stretched his hand towards her", I'm Layla, it's a pleasure to meet you" Layla replied as they shook hands. Jaden was fighting so hard not to kiss her hand, this lady in front of him looked like she had just come out of a painting, for a moment his mind went blank and he forgot the reason he came here in the first place, her hands were as soft and smooth as silk and he reluctantly let go "the pleasure is all mine miss Layla, are you waiting for someone" he asked hopefully expecting that her answer will be no "I'm not, Mr. Jaden I just came here to grab a bite, once I'm done I'll be on my way" "please you can just call me Jaden, and God willing could we be friends? I don't have many and having an angel like you as a friend will be nothing less than an honor for me" Jaden said expectantly as he sat down, Layla thought he was bumptious but she didn't mind too much, she didn't have many friends either and adding "Mr brash" here wouldn't hurt, "Oki Jady, it's all good by me, I wish us a smooth friendship as we get to know each other" she said sarcastically.

Jaden's eyes immediately lit up and at this moment he was more excited than a child who had just been rewarded with candy, he was just exhilarated for no particular reason, he couldn't pinpoint what made him so elevated right now but one thing was sure, he wanted her to be more than a friend to him, but he didn't want to behave like a playboy and scare her away so decided to take his time and make this goddess become choked with too much care and just fall for not just his charms but every other thing about him. He was about to say something but the waiter arrived with Layla's salad. "Hey mr kind waiter can I please borrow your phone, I need to make a call and mine is currently not with me, please, I would really appreciate it if you helped me, life saver please" Layla begged with a cute voice and puppy eyes. The waiter was not very pleased with how she addressed him but he found it hilarious and didn't mind too much, he would willingly give away his phone to this beauty here, though he was a little sad this young miss had a partner, he knew just from her looks that she was way above him in status but kept on daydreaming. "ok miss, I'll just go and get it" he replied sweetly he was about to go and get the phone but Jaden who had gotten irked by this little interaction stated in an annoyed tone, " no need Mr waiter she can use mine and please get me just what she ordered, the shrimps please, not salad" Layla was surprised, how did he even know what she ordered? But she didn't think much of it "oh Jady for a moment I forgot I could actually just use yours without even having to beg, I mean what are friends for, thank you, new friend" she said merrily Once Jaden saw how freely she spoke and how she lighted up the whole place with just a smile, his heart immediately warmed up, "no need to thank me girlie, we are friends, you can even keep it if you want", he said. The waiter just stood there and watched the most good-looking people in the restaurant talking to each other, he had completely forgotten what he was asked to do and could only weep inwardly, this bastard of a man obviously liked this pretty angel, he had gotten a big heartbreak even before he got the chance to hit, Jaden noticed that the lousy waiter was still standing there looking at them "please you can go and check our meal now young man" he said out, the waiter was startled, he immediately apologized and hurried off. This made Jaden amused, and he immediately focused on Layla "can I tell you something really crazy, my dear friend?", "Of course, please go on, I love crazy," Layla said excitedly "but before that, do you love video games, and if yes which of them?". "Of course I do, my brother always makes time for me, so we can play our favorite video games, we play overcooked, Minecraft, and snipperclips, just to name a few, I love fighting and soccer games too, I love soccer but what I enjoy most is wrestling" Layla beamed and spoke as if she could talk about this all day "cool! you love soccer and wrestling? I love those too and I prefer snipperclips to Minecraft, come on tell me now who is your favorite wrestler, and who's your soccer GOAT too?" Jaden asked out loudly, "I just love roman reigns he's the best, but my favorite is a female, Ronda comes first and then Becky Lynch and as for soccer Ronaldo and Messi are undisputed GOATs, but I'm not telling you my club" Layla said with mischief.

That was it for Jaden, his mind was made up, This was indubitably his wife! No one could tell him otherwise " I see you're afraid to take sides huh? There is no way you can have the same love for Ronaldo and Messi" he said sarcastically

"Do you want some salad? You've been watching me eat all this while it makes me look selfish" Layla asked a little embarrassed that she was the only one eating "oh no I don't mind, our food is coming, just enjoy, watching you eat is worth it" Jaden said the last part in his mind "ok if you say so, you were gonna tell me something crazy, go on, now is the perfect time " Layla said curiously, but suddenly she watched Jaden become uneasy and alarmed, he looked as if he wanted to just fly or disappear, she followed his line of sight and her eyes fell on a confused looking beauty making her way towards them, she looked unsure of something as she approached them, " hello beautiful and handsome, what's up" the girl greeted informally, "I'm Sophia, Mr. Adonis, please, your name doesn't happen to be Jaden Night, does it?" Layla didn't understand what was going on, she felt like these two knew each other, but something seemed a bit off, she thought they could make a great couple "silly me, thinking about something like this right now" Layla giggled internally and Jaden spoke up " Jordan is the name" he said, "I think you mistook me for someone else pretty lady "oh, is that so? I'm so sorry" Sophia blushed and muttered disappointedly, " maybe he left after waiting for too long, I didn't mean to stand him up, I checked the room reserved for us but the waiter said he had left", Sophia said in a frustrated tone as she sat down.

Jaden was starting to feel uncomfortable and Layla could only guess that something was wrong, this man told her his name was Jaden not Jordan, but she was a little bit too naive. Sophia sensed the weird atmosphere and spoke "It's nice to meet you guys, who would have thought that something cool would still happen to me today after I missed my date, today has been a long and hectic day for me and I think it's just getting better now that I can finally sit and relax with such a cute couple".
