No Medicine For Regret

Regret. I regret meeting you. I regret knowing you. I regret trusting you. And most of all, I regret loving you. Deep in the swamps that lie east of the world resides a legendary witch, who from her hovel watches over the entire world. There she crafts potions of unmatched potency and nature, ones that can heal all illness, make a weak man strong, and return the dead to the realm of living. As long as one can tell a story that the witch has never heard, anything can be bought. There I will seek treatment. A medicine for my regret. A bandage for my soul. From now on, let us be strangers. You who were my world will now reside outside of it. You who were my love, will never again enter my eye. Let our fate be severed. But, I can’t help but wonder, in this world, is there really such thing as medicine for regret?

An Escape Plan

Seeing Ava tumble in further, the lanky man couldn't help but frown in suspicion. Falling backward at such a moment was a little bit too coincidental, wasn't it? But seeing Ava stumble forward again as she tried to get up, the lanky man relaxed. Looking at the soft skin and silky hair of the little girl in front of him, she should probably be the brat of some well-off family in the town. How could such a tender youth plot against him?

Finally getting up fully, Ava looked back and forth between Bruno and the lanky man, seemingly weighing her options, and made to run towards Bruno, but as Bruno lumbered forward, scared, Ava couldn't help but panic and turn around and run, heading towards the lanky man and the Haley, who was the girl on the ground.

Running while looking backward, Ava happened to trip over Haley's foot and tumbled on the ground yet again, landing at the lanky man's feet. To the side, Haley looked on with dead eyes. Why was she so unlucky? She had a few free hours today and had planned on going to the market to buy a trinket or two to bring back to her room, but she happened to catch the eyes of these two bastards while she was making a purchase and had been caught as she was heading home.

If the two men had simply stolen her money, perhaps that would have been fine, but they actually recognized her as someone from the brothel and from the Foxes Respite, no less. The Foxes Respite, under the management of the Madam, was rather kind towards the girls. Although men could come in and order simple items involving some level of skinship, in the end, the men couldn't purchase the girls for a night or anything similar without the girl's willingness. Thus, the brothel had managed to gain some fame as a place to 'tame' the girls.

Of course, this was, in large part, an act put on by the girls. To begin with, most women didn't easily have orgasms from simple penetration sex, and the majority of the men who frequented their establishment couldn't be considered particularly gifted in this aspect. And beyond that, as Ava had learned over the past few days, the majority of women who willingly worked in brothels and prostitution houses… liked girls. The way they worked was just that. Work.

But in the end, because of the exclusive nature of the Foxes Respite, it managed to gain a rather high-level clientele, alongside the Madam's networking, and thus these two lowlifes had never managed to get in. Feeling confident after robbing Haley, they wanted to take it a step further.

If that wasn't bad enough, then Ava had to come in, and now they would have to suffer together.

Feeling despondent, Haley grit her teeth. Even if she had to go down today, at the very least, she would try to give Ava a chance to escape. As long as Ava could get back to the Foxes Respite and let the Madam know, there was still a chance she could be saved as long as they acted quickly enough.

Looking at the girl at his feet, the lanky man once again couldn't help but frown. Although once could be a coincidence, when it happened twice, it became suspicious. As he was about to lift his foot to kick Ava, who was in front of him, Haley, who had remained relatively docile up to this point, struggled up from the ground and clawed at the lanky man with her nails.

Scowling, the lanky man let out a curse and slapped Haley with the back of his hand. "Fucking bitch, if I wasn't trying to keep your face pretty, do you think you could get away with this shit?"

But as his vision was covered by Haley's faltering figure, the lanky figure failed to catch the motion of Ava, who, in one swift motion, jumped up from the ground and stabbed a small needle in her hand towards him. Not knowing where on the neck was lethal, Ava could only go for the next best option. Piercing into the lanky man's eye, Ava quickly inserted the needle before letting go and jumping back and supporting Haley before carefully shifting her glance back and forth between the lanky man and Bruno.

"FUCK! FUCK MY EYE! GOD FUCKING, BRUNO, KILL THESE BITCHES!"

From the other end of the alleyway, Bruno couldn't help but be confused. Because a bit further away, he hadn't clearly seen what had happened and only thought Haley had jumped at the lanky man and scratched him across the face. Feeling a little disdain in his heart towards the lanky man for losing in a fight with a girl, he moved forward nonetheless.

Seeing that the lanky man was down for the count for the moment, Ava leaned towards Ava and whispered, "Can you walk?"

Startled, Haley turned her eyes towards Ava and couldn't help but reconsider this young lady in front of her. Up to this point, she only thought that Lily had found a poor kid on the street and simply ended up taking in a sister, but it seemed there was more than was to the eye of this new little sister of Lily's.

Of course, due to the somewhat embarrassing nature of the story, Lily had never quite explained exactly how she and Ava had met, simply brushing it off as meeting in the alleyway when she was smoking.

Clearing her head of distracting thoughts, Haley decided to talk to Ava more later, "Yes, I think so."

Nodding, Ava let out a sigh of relief that would make things a lot easier for her, "Later, save your energy. Try to stay inconspicuous. I'll draw attention when you see a chance. Run past the brute and get into the streets. Run straight back to the Foxes Respite. I'll be following after."

Opening her mouth to protest, no words came out as Haley realized that she wouldn't be any help to this little girl in front of her. Before, on her own, she was already helpless. If she stayed, she would only end up becoming a hostage. After a moment of hesitation, Haley nodded and silently agreed.

As Bruno lumbered closer, Ava took small steps backward, looking like she was about to bolt, while Haley leaned against the wall weakly, looking as if she had used up all of her strength in her earlier counterattack.

Seeing the two meek figures in front of him, a brutal grin couldn't help but light up Bruno's face.
