Ninety-nine desert nights

The resort offers a retirement plan for terminally ill patients. And one thing that attracted Isabel to sign up is the fulfillment of her bucket list. Many sorts of things happened in the resort that made Isabel's southward life into a rollercoaster. (Cover picture credits to the owner, we do not own the photo)

Her promise

"I can't believe you didn't tell us your condition." Her father's face is read, furious and worried, spit is spraying all over while talking on the video call.

"Dad, I don't want to worry you. But I'm now getting treated and my condition is better." It's not true, but she knew that Amy was not lying when she tells her, she'll get treated.

"Yeah, of course, that assures us!" That's her brother's sarcastic comment, men in her house tend to get angry when any of the women are sick.

"Come on you guys, I'll come back perfectly healthy, didn't you promise me, mom? That everything's gonna be okay?" She looked at Layla trying to side her.

"Of course, darling! But it would be better if I can be there to take care of you." Her mother answered, but only made her more look insensitive towards them.

"I'm sorry Mom, no one is allowed in the facility. But I am definitely enjoying my stay here. I live by the beach hehehe." She was crossing her fingers convincing her family that she is fine.

"You better come back in pieces, you brat!" His father is making it into a humorous discussion, but he is looking very worried, and is ready to fly anytime she would tell them where she is.

"I definitely will!" She promised again.

After an hour of repeated promises, they finally ended the call. She turns to look for Ed, she wanted to know if she can come back tomorrow.

"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you earlier, you can only call your family once a month, that's true for all of us here." He apologized but he is still smiling.

Isabel can't stop her jaws from dropping.

The hell! How is she supposed to know the reply to Elizabeth's autobiography?

She inhaled and exhaled to calm herself down. You are not allowed to panic, she told herself.

Even if she missed Hash so much, she is trying to consider everything as a dream now, so it won't hurt too much if she can't go back. That's what her mind is trying to memorize, but her heart says otherwise.

Shoulder's down, Isabel didn't take Rd's offer to bring her home. She walked her way to the beach so she can think clearly.

As she sees the crabs navigating the sands, it reminded her of the desert dunes and of Hash's hugs, kisses, and wonderful smell.

She sat on the sand and cried in disappointment.

"Honey, help me get back to you please." She didn't mean for the tears to roll down her cheeks, but it just comes on its own.

"Okay! You just came out of a bad relationship, you shouldn't have put yourself in this situation." She is having a loud conversation with herself since she's alone.

"Right! Like you choose to fall in love with him." She talked back to herself, she may sound crazy, but, she convinced herself she's trying to rationalize things.

"Of course you always have a choice!" She realized that her voice is getting louder, so she shuts up and scolded herself inside her head.

She walked to the side where she finds the shack that transported her to Novalia the first time. She is hoping she can find a clue on how to go back.

With too much disappointment shoulders still hung, she walked back home.

Her tiny house looked bigger and lonely when she got in. She locked the door, took off her clothes and proceed to her bath, and soaked herself in the warm pool.

She closes her eyes, thinking what kind of bad luck, she had these past few years.

She made a silent prayer and finally fell asleep.

"Hey! Wake up." Someone calls her but she can't open her eyes, she is too tired.

"Isabel, come with me." She pushed her eyes open to comply with that voice.

"Hey, I know you wanted to see Hash again."

Isabel's sleepiness was blown away by the apparition in front of her.

"Ghost!" screaming, she struggled to get up from the pool, making loud splashes.

"Calm down, I'm not a ghost, but just a friendly spirit visiting your dreams." Isabel still can't calm down even though Elizabeth's voice is soft, mellow, and a little melancholic.

Wait, she's dreaming right now?

"Yes, you are." Elizabeth in her dreams can read her thoughts.

It feels real, she thought.

"You can also take this as reality, as the information I will tell you is the truth." Elizabeth sat on the edge of the pool, her body is glowing, like those in the movies of incandescent beings.

"Listen, little girl, in two days you will have to find a way to go back and marry my son." She said and then stood up.

She opens the palm of her hands and a smooth crystal ball appeared.

"This is the globe is the key to all the gateways in this Island." The globe levitated in her hands and glowed like it's reflecting the sun inside it.

"You are not wrong, the universe reflects on it." She forgot she can read her mind.

So many questions flooded her head that she can't verbalize because of confusion.

"First this has been in the Jerson family since the dawn of time, only a Jerson can have this." She answered her first question.

"Second, this was given to us by beings that helped shape the cosmos, no we are not one of them, but the Ravens are." It answered her second question and more.

"Yes, you can use this to get to Hash, but the problem is we don't know the exact gate to get to him. That would be your job since you're the one getting married." She walks closer to her and handed her the glass globe.

"And lastly, I am neither dead nor alive. My real body is still on this Island half dead, but that's another story." Then her glowing body is being pulled out in a creepy way like she was sucked by a vortex.

"I'm lending you the globe, but you must bring Hasher in this Island very quick!" Her voice is being swallowed and sounded spooky too.
