Nightwalker ~when the devil sings

He loathed her. So much so that he was numb from the hatred. He wouldn't kill her~maybe not yet. She glared at him from where she sat on the bed. "Glare all you want since that's what you would be doing from this moment on". "What do you want?" "I will be the musician and you'd be the dancer. Whatever song I sing, you must dance to it. I don't need your will, you just have to obey me". He was the devil himself and this time, she has to be a dancer for him.

Eighty-nine. Manicured nail

Eighty-nine. Manicured nail

The following day, Monalissa readied herself for the hospital. She wasn't apprehensive or scared of anything. She knew who the father of her child was. But it angered her that it's father wants to kill his own child. Her eyes got teary again but she wiped them off, steeling her heart. Madam Angela was waiting for her in front of her room. She was surprised to see her when she stepped out.

"Ma'am Angela", she called and gave a slight bow.

Madam Angela spared her a warm smile, one which Monalissa registered as the first smile she had ever received from her. "You're finally out. Breakfast is served", she said.

Monalissa made an 'O' with her lips and nodded. "Okay. Thanks", she said.

Madam Angela led her downstairs while watching her carefully lest she falls. This was an action that Monalissa noticed and couldn't help but feel conscious. There was no need for all that!, she wanted to say to the elderly woman.

They arrived at the dining and the maidens serving made way for her to sit. Monalissa looked at Madam Angela. "What's going on ma'am?", she asked, a bit confused.

"That's what the young master has commanded. He asked us to treat you well", she replied.

"I wasn't being mistreated before. Why now? This makes me uncomfortable", Monalissa pointed out.

"Which part of it makes you uncomfortable? The maids? I can have them changed", a deep voice thundered bringing the whole room to silence. Ezekiel had just entered the dining room with his friend Michael. He had invited the latter over for breakfast.

Monalissa looked at Ezekiel, her gaze cold and her face devoid of expression. "Didn't you hear? It makes me uncomfortable", she replied with a dry tone.

Ezekiel didn't know how to react at what she had said. He understood her but this was his first facing this kind of Walker. He had never been wrong but now, he was. Because of her. He wasn't blaming her though. She was his sweetheart. His childhood love.

"Mona, it's just...", Ezekiel tried to say but Monalissa cut him off.

"It's okay. You should just knock yourself out", she said and walked to take a seat at the dining. She was just about to sit when she noticed a manicured nail on one of the maidens hand. It was quite prominent due to its dark color against her pale skin.

"Hey", she said, looking at the maid. It was Daya.

Daya looked at her, fright taking hold of her. "Yes?"

Kim was at the dining too, waiting on his Boss, in case he needed anything. He was surprised when Monalissa suddenly singled Daya out. Everyone at the dining, including Ezekiel focused their attention on Monalissa and Daya.

"Your nails... they're pretty", Monalissa said.

Daya cursed Monalissa the moment she mentioned the nails. It wasn't really prominent but how did she notice. If she wasn't a witch, then what was she?

"Thank you Miss Walls", she thanked her.

"Where...did you get them done? I suddenly feel like doing mine", Monalissa asked with a smile that looked sly. Ezekiel saw this and smiled. He became focused on Daya as well, trying not to miss any reaction.

"It's just a manicured nail. Nothing much", Daya said, driving Monalissa's question away.

"I know. And what's crazier, you did it on only one finger. I'm not really into art but, this one got me", Monalissa said. "You didn't answer my question. Where, did you get it?"

Daya nearly peed in her pants. She really hated Monalissa at the moment. "Miss Walls, why do I feel like you're attacking me? It's just a nail. There's no need to make a big deal out if it", Daya said trying to turn the audience against Monalissa.

Ezekiel saw this, his eyes turning to slits. He was about to have her dealt with but Michael stopped him. "Let her do it. It's entertaining", he said.

Ezekiel sent a secret glare to Michael but received a chuckle instead.

"Why would you feel attacked? I didn't say anything hurtful. I just asked a question. You could answer it with just the location. I...", she trailed off while bringing her fingers closer to her face, then continued her sentence with a pout. "I really want to do my nails, I haven't done it in a while", she said and suddenly turned to Ezekiel who got stumped the moment she turned as his gaze was just on her.

"Right master? Wouldn't you like it if I did mine too?", she asked. Her voice totally different from the one she had spoken to him with some minutes ago.

Michael laughed while praising Monalissa within. Kim gave her a thumbs up in his heart as he was still unable to unravel the mystery behind that Daya of a maid. Madam Angela was the most confused.

"Yes Walker, you need to do it. Daya, speak or you'll have to spend the nights with the reptiles. Where did you have your nails done?"

Daya clenched her teeth as beads if sweat formed on her forehead. She was dead scared.

"It's okay. She doesn't want to say it. Let's leave her then. I will just find it myself", Monalissa said waving her off.

Daya fell to the floor as if she had been drained. She glared at Monalissa secretly, cursing her for toying with her. This woman...was no joke.

Ezekiel looked at Daya then at Monalissa. Without saying anything, he settled down alongside Michael.

Madam Angela was quite meticulous as she chose the right dishes inorder for Monalissa to have a peaceful meal without gagging. Monalissa who was oblivious of Madam Angela's sweetness towards her, gobbled down, not sparing Ezekiel any glance.

Ezekiel looked at her from time to time. As though he wanted to say something. Michael noticed this.

"Hey there Mona, I'm Zeke's friend. We haven't really met before", he began.

"Oh...I know", Monalissa said with a friendly smile.

"I'm Michael", Michael introduced.

"Michael, sounds nice. How about I call you Kel? Michael - Kel? How does that sound?", Monalissa asked while sipping a broth.

"Wow, that sounds nice. I'd loooove that", Michael said stretching the word. He didn't drag the word because he wanted but because Ezekiel had pinched him really hard on the thigh under the table.

Monalissa smiled. "It's nice meeting you Kel. Master must have told you a lot about me", she said.

"Yeah", Michael said and looked at Ezekiel. "He has".

"You could tell me some of them when next we meet, yeah?",

"Cool", he replied why avoiding the death glare Ezekiel was sending to him.

The breakfast ended on a happy note all thanks to Michael's presence. He drive off to his office while Monalissa and her master hit the road to the hospital.

On their way, Ezekiel finally got to ask Monalissa what has been probing him. It was actually about Daya.

"Is there a problem with the maid from breakfast?", he asked.

"Yes. Quite a lot", she replied.

"What are they then?"

"She's a spy. That nail, is for every member of your opponent's organization", she stated.
