Ethan looked at the gangsters with an exhausted sigh. They had told him that they would return but he had completely forgotten about them. He had found a stack of notes at the house. But he did not count it yet and did not pick it up.
He was busy thinking about the strange messages and numbers on his phone.
"David, are you sure that I do not have a family?" they could be the numbers of his dead family. But last night when he called one of them from the local booth. The ring had gone through but no one picked it up.
He wanted to be sure before calling from his number. What if it created another situation he was not prepared for?
"You are thinking about that?" David frowned as he looked at the number of gangsters. There were only three yesterday. He knew Ethan had just come, so he might not have earned anything
Their leader was already looking at Ethan as if he was waiting for a chance to beat him. He swung a silver chain in hand in circles as he moved forward with a cold smirk on his face.
"But Tony, Ethan had only come. He had not worked today, so he could not earn money." His voice was not pleading but it was full of concern that made them raise their brow and look at Ethan as if he was pathetic.
Coldness erupting in their dark eyes,
"Foolish old man, who had stopped him from setting his stall? Is it my mistake that he is foolish or that he could not do such a simple thing?" he warned and then his eyes looked sharply at Ethan. "And you, do you think he could get mercy for you the way you have paid his rent yesterday? Is it some kind of family drama running here?" David realized that instead of helping Ethan, he was creating trouble for him, so he went silent and took a step back.
He looked at Ethan with worry and went to count the money he had on the table. Ethan felt the headache coming in.
He could not take money from this man after having an affair with his daughter. Can he? Moreover, he did not need to ask anyone, he had money at home.
"Sir! I know what I have promised for today. But I completely forgot about it, and I do not have money right now. But I will pay you tomorrow. Is it alright?" the man frowned. His eyes flickered with a dark light.
Those hoodlums that had been standing behind in silence chuckled.
"Did he just dismiss us and order us to come tomorrow?" one snickered as he looked at Ethan as if he were a fool.
"Ha! Do you think just by adding sir in your wordings, you would be able to convince big brother?" another scowled.
"What do you think of yourself, you foolish kid? We are not going to listen to you." they all glared at him one by one.
Ethan counted them and looked at their hands. It was clear that they were going to attack him. It looked like they had come with that intention from the start though he did not understand the reason.
David returned with five notes in his hands.
"Here, this is the money. You can leave him now." Ethan felt bad but he did not stop David this time. He could return the money later to David.
But the gangsters did not take it. The leader's eyes narrowed at Ethan.
"No, I am not going to take the payment from someone else. You are going to pay me." Ethan's eyes narrowed. They had taken the money from him for David.
From the start, their behavior was different from yesterday.
"Shall we teach him a lesson, boss?" asked one and the leader smirked. His eyes confirmed that there was something wrong about their visit today's visit.
"Who sent you?" he asked without any hesitation only to see the leader's eyes flickering with shock as the gangster controlled his expressions easily.
"Ha! He had lost his mind. Tell him who had the right to question here." he said with a murderous look in his eyes. Only those were needed for others to attack Ethan at once.
Without waiting for Ethan's reply, they came to him but before the first man could touch Ethan, he went flying high in the sky! He felt a sharp pain in his abdomen.
His body slammed into the roadside pole with a "bam sound." The impact was strong enough to make his head bleed.
He went unconscious in an instant. Another went flying beside him. He held his abdomen and cried hard in a loud voice.
One by one three of them had already fallen on the ground. Everyone looked at the scene astounded.
"Beat him to death!" The leader gritted his teeth and this time he attacked himself with the other two gangsters. They all swung their weapons at him at once. But Ethan kicked one and held the weapon of the other two with calm and easiness. Their hands were clamped down by an immense force and their bodies flung away against their control.
They all joined their comrades at once. Their bodies refused to move even when they tried. Their mouths filled with blood and their bodies felt broken. They all cried in pain.
They didn't even dare to look at Ethan again. But how? The question echoed in their mind. They were completely dumbfounded by the situation since they had been here for a long time, and not even once had they lost a fight.
What would happen to their image now? They could not accept it. But they could not move no matter how tired they were.
"Do not even try. You will only end up in the coffin if you do it." they heard the cold voice of Ethan and shivered with fear.
The rest of the crowd looked at Ethan as if he was a monster, a ghost. The leader had seen many special forces or people trained in martial arts but even they were not this strong. He did not see Ethan moving at all. Such strength and a ludicrous amount of speed.
"Let's go!" the leader said in a calm voice, "we will come later for him."
They all wanted to refuse but they knew they did not hold a chance. Grinding their teeth, they all stood up and followed their leader. But they all threw a look toward Ethan with the desire to kill him before leaving from there.
Deafening silence had filled the scene. And even the birds knew that they could not chirp carelessly. Until a person clapped.
And then a roaring round of applause filled the place. Two men came forward and pulled Ethan on their shoulders.
"Ethan, you are so strong. We never knew that you could fight these goons."
"Yes, Ethan, you are our new leader now. You will free us from their dominance." they all shouted and roared with joy while Ethan… he looked at the little bunny that sighed and decided to leave for good.
"Do not die! I beg you."
