~Chapter 9~

Cleo's PoV

Doctor Leonor had officially discharged me from the hospital. I recovered quickly than I thought. Walking out the hospital's hallway, I was met by the bright sky. The sun is high up the sky, warming everyone who's under it. As I look at the glorious sun , I was in reverie of the pleasant heat it gives me.

"You're out, already?" I heared somene asked and look his way.

"Alpha, What brings you here?" I asked and bow my head in respect.

"I told you that formality is not observe in the hospital." He told me, shaking his hands as a sign to stop doing it.

"So, what are you here for Alpha?"

"I'm here to take you home." Cassius shrugged, acting like its no big deal.

"But why would the Alpha King do it?" Curiously asking him.

"I have a lot of time and I promised Kirael that I'll pick you up." Cassius explained and grab my hand. He guide me into the parking lot and open the door of his black SUV, for me to get in. Then he walk around the car and get on his seat. I stared at him and things on his car's backseat.

"What?" Cassius asked while pulling up his seatbelt.

"Why is your car messy?" I asked without so much thought.

"Messy?!" He uttered in disbelief.

I look away from his gaze. It feels so weird looking at his red irises. I'm getting nervous, for probably crossing the line. I shouldn't have said that his car is messy.

"Pfffftt." Cassius tried suppressing his laugh.

"Why are you laughing? I thought you were mad at me for a second." I deadpanned.

"You're cute! You look like a kid who obviously done something wrong. Plus this aren't mess. Its what Kirael told me to buy, because you needed it." He calmly stated as he revs the engine of his car.

Cassius started driving and the scene outside the car, is like a picture drawn out by an artist. There's a lot of tall buildings, restaurants where many people come and go to eat, salons, botiques and arcades. The people outside looks so happy. Soon after, we went into a subdivision. The houses were of modern design. None of what I saw can compare to what my son and I live in. Nevertheless, drowning in the thoughts that we've lived a harsh life, won't do me any good. Since I've attained this kind of freedom, I have to move forward and be strong for my son.

"We've arrived Ms. Theron." Cassius smiled at me, offering his hand. Leading me out of his car.

We went inside the house and I was surprise by my son and the Gamma family of Black Moon Pack.

"Congratulations!" They said in unison.

Kirael run towards me and hug me so tight. My son kiss me on the cheeks and gave me a lavender bouquet.

"Alpha wants me to give this to you." My son whispered on my ear.

"Let's eat!" Julia merrily said, before I could even question my son and the Alpha King.

"Come now kids. The food will get cold." Carlo remarked.

We sat down on our respective seats and ate the food Julia cooked. It was such a delicious meal and my first time eating with a large group. I feel happy, but it scares me that this happiness might be taken away in an instant.

Afterwards we had deserts and talk about a lot of things. I've come to know that the house we're in, is Cassius' home. And what bothers me the most is that we will be living in here with him, while our house is still under construction. Cassius told me that he was planning to build a mansion first, but Kirael stopped him. My son told him that there's only two people who will be living in it, and doesn't have to big or grand. All we need is a cozy home.

Julia, then informed me that Kirael started going to school a week ago. Though he entered late, the teachers had given him exams and projects to catch up.

While we were resting and talking, someone came without notice.

"King, we have a problem!" His warrior came bursting through the door.

"What is it that you needed to disturb the Alpha King?" Carlo questioned the warrior.

"Stop!" Cassius said with full authority. His Gamma and warrior bowed their head in distress. "Tell me what the problem is?"

"The Alpha of the Strong Winds Pack is gone." The warrior effortlessly explained.

The Alpha King who is known to be compose and well-mannered, swiftly became a beast. His fangs started to appear, his nails grew black and sharp. Gamma Carlo tried to calm him, but to no avail. He shifted into his midnight black wolf and run outside. His Gamma and warior chased after him. We were left with Julia and her kids. Julia assured me that we are safe in here and Alpha Jim won't be able to bring us any harm.

**********

Its now midnight, I haven't been able to sleep. Actually, I'm waiting for the Alpha King. I have a lot of questions in mind that I wanted to convey to him. I've been staying here for almost a month now, thinking that Jim is already dead. I glance outside the window and a large black wolf started to appear from the shadows of the forest and shifted at the back of an oak tree.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" Cassius asked, full of concern.

"Why didn't you kill him?"

"I haven't gotten the answers I am looking for." He vaguely stated.

He sat beside me, studying my expressionless face. Wanting to know what's going on inside my head.

"I think my child and I have to hide." He's taken aback by my opinion.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Of course he knows where we are and your pack will be in danger. I have to take my child and get out of here." Briefly explaining what I had in mind.

"I can make you both safe, along my pack." He confidently retorted.

"Do you even know what Jim is trying to do?"

He hissed at the name I mentioned.

"I know what they're trying to do. If you both go outside my territory, I can't protect you. That's why I asked you beforehand to join my pack."

Clouded by a certain thought that my son could be in danger. I decided to agree with the Alpha King, by staying under his protection. In return, I'll be working for him and help him look for the fallen Eclipse Pack.
