I remained in that deep darkness for what seemed like forever. Then, out of the blue, I suddenly heard someone's voice, which I, after a few seconds, realized was my mom's. I was actually quite relieved to hear that, because that meant that I was still alive, and I was still my 16-year-old self.
I tried focusing on what my mom was saying. Her voice was steadily becoming louder, so it was probably something really urgent. I stayed quiet, and after about 5 minutes, I realized that she was just calling me for breakfast. Wow.
I finally found my voice and asked my mom what the time was.
"It's 7 already. You are going to miss school if you don't get up now."
"Oh wow! I've been asleep for nearly 10 hours! Never did that before. And... I had a nightmare..."
"What did you see?" My sister's head popped into my room.
"Learn to mind your own business, Amanda," I said, quite annoyed. "Duh."
Remember I said that me and my sister get along quite well? Well, I might as well change that to 'sometimes'. Not a great example of a nice brother-sister relationship.
But anyway, I addressed both of them," Can you two go out, please? I'm going to dress up and come for breakfast."
I was still lying on my bed when they both went out. I tried lifting my head up- no success. It felt as heavy as a boulder!
I finally managed to lift my head- and my whole body- up from bed. I put on yesterday's jeans and a "Don't be afraid. You can do it." T-shirt and skipped off to breakfast.
I didn't feel like eating at all, but I forced myself to have some bacon and scrambled eggs. I was going to need those carbohydrates and proteins for my basketball match today. And anyway, you've got to eat something. I mean, I didn't even have dinner last night!
I finished whatever was on the plate in front of me, and after a long, tiring breakfast, I fetched my school bag and set off for school.
