After navigating the maze-like tunnels of the mine, Lin Moyu entered the second half of the dungeon. Before him stretched a massive passage, over a kilometer long.
On either side, cells resembling prison cells lined the walls, their imposing iron gates looming ominously. From within, the cries of beasts echoed, mingling with the oppressive scent of blood and a lingering fishy odor in the air.
In the center of the passage stood a colossal monster.
Resembling a wolf or a dog, this creature was over a meter tall when lying down; when it stood, it exceeded three meters in height. Its body stretched more than five meters in length.
Lin Moyu's detection technique revealed the creature's identity: [Mine Wolf King (Elite Leader)]
Level: 15
Power: 2000
Agility: 2000
Spirit: 1000
Physique: 2500
Skill: Roar
This was Lin Moyu's first encounter with a boss-level monster, and it was an elite one at that. Although its attributes fell short of his skeleton warriors, it was significantly stronger than regular mobs.
"The attributes of this elite leader are impressive," he mused. "If it's this strong, the final boss of this dungeon will likely be even more formidable. But it shouldn't surpass my skeleton warriors; otherwise, no one would ever clear this dungeon."
In dungeons marked as nightmare difficulty, such powerful monsters were expected. Typically, teams capable of overcoming a nightmare dungeon would average levels between 17 and 18, equipped with top-tier gear and skills. It was rare for someone like Lin Moyu to clear a nightmare dungeon at level 10.
Awakened by the detection technique, the Mine Wolf King stirred from its slumber, rising to its full height, its massive form casting a shadow over Lin Moyu and his skeleton warriors, who were dwarfed by its legs.
The scarlet wolf fixed its bloodthirsty gaze on Lin Moyu, emanating a menacing aura. A wave of oppressive energy washed over him.
"Advance!" Lin Moyu commanded.
The 56 skeletons surged forward like a lightning bolt toward the Mine Wolf King. In response, the wolf unleashed a ferocious roar, releasing a powerful shockwave from its mouth.
The thirty or so skeleton warriors at the front were thrown back violently, crashing into the walls of the mine, debris raining down around them. Lin Moyu, standing several meters away, was taken aback by the force of the attack.
This skill was clearly a group attack, capable of delivering a shocking impact. It was the first time he had witnessed his skeleton warriors being flung backward.
Yet Lin Moyu felt no concern. He sensed that the skeleton warriors, despite being knocked down, had sustained minimal damage. Their physique of 3400 points was no exaggeration, and their defense was formidable.
The skeleton warriors quickly regained their footing and charged back at the Mine Wolf King. The fissures in the walls caused by the shockwave repaired themselves almost instantly, the warriors' soul fire flickering brightly.
"Use your skills!" Lin Moyu ordered.
Furious Blow!
The skeleton warriors that had not been blown away launched themselves at the Mine Wolf King, their red-tinged blades slashing viciously. Blood sprayed as the wolf's skin tore, exposing sinew and bone beneath.
The Mine Wolf King howled in pain, thrashing violently. Many skeleton warriors leapt high, unleashing their skills with blinding speed.
This scene reminded Lin Moyu of the time he witnessed the skeleton warriors take down a dragon. The Mine Wolf King, while large, was not nearly as powerful or intimidating as a giant dragon.
With each strike, the skeleton warriors dealt substantial damage. The Mine Wolf King, in a frenzy, collided with the mine's rock walls, desperately trying to shake off the relentless skeletons clinging to it.
But the skeleton warriors held fast, their grip unyielding. Those on the ground followed suit, attacking its legs with their blades, creating a metallic clatter as their knives met bone.
The wolf king screamed in agony, its claws swiping at the skeleton warriors and knocking some away, but they were quick to recover, returning to the fray almost immediately.
It lunged to bite, only to have its teeth shatter against the hardened bones of the skeleton warriors, who were more than capable of absorbing such blows.
"What's the use of size?" Lin Moyu thought, a sense of realization dawning on him. "While its massive form instills fear and boasts strength, it also exposes its weaknesses. Without sufficient defense, it can't withstand the skeleton warriors' onslaught."
The outcome was clear. Within mere moments, the Mine Wolf King was teetering on the brink of death.
With another deafening roar, it activated its skill once more.
This time, it poured all its strength into the attack.
The shockwave surged forth, sending every skeleton warrior clinging to it flying. Those nearby were also caught in the blast.
"The attack power might be mediocre, but the impact is impressive," Lin Moyu observed, noting the skeleton warriors tumbling through the air. Despite the powerful display, they seemed to endure little damage.
Sure enough, after rolling across the ground, the skeleton warriors scrambled back to their feet, undeterred.
As the Mine Wolf King turned and limped toward the passage, Lin Moyu raised an eyebrow. "Is it trying to escape?"
