Chapter 07 What a Cold guy

Zhang Shangnan is observing Shen Chi Yan,like Shen Chi Yan was observing Zhang Shangnan.

They are two brothers living in a remote area where there is no school nearby, but no one would guess they live in a village just by looking at them.

The boy standing in front, Zhang Shangnan, appears handsome, quite tall, and carries an air of maturity. He is well-groomed and neat, devoid of any signs of the rural environment around him. "What's your name, young man?" he asked.

"Shen Chi Yan, Chi (驰) conveys a sense of speed, running, Yan (嫣) radiant and beautiful," replied Shen Chi Yan.

"My brother has asked me to help you to fresh. He is preparing breakfast in the morning," Shen Chi Yan explained.

Zhang Shangnan raised his eyebrows upon hearing this and asked, "Can your brother cook also?"

Shen Chi Yan nodded, "My brother cooks most of the time for everyone," showing a lot of pride when talking about his brother.

Little Mi and Little Bay have already started running around the room, playing like themselves.

Zhang Shangnan stood up with Shen Chi Yan's help, "Who else is there in your house besides you two?" he asked, heading towards the bathroom.

"We have Grandma and Grandpa besides me and my brother. But they are not at home now; they will come today," Shen Chi Yan replied.

Shen Ziyi seemed quite reserved, while his younger brother appeared to be a very gentle guy.

"How old are you? Don't you go to school?" According to his age, he should be currently studying in a secondary school. Zhang Shangnan, from his knowledge, thought that there might not be any good secondary school in the nearby area.

While helping Zhang Shangnan, Shen Chi Yan replied, but his hand did not slow down, "I'll turn eighteen this year, and my brother is three years older than me."

"I'm in the 11th grade. I study at First Middle High School in Beijing. I'll be leaving tomorrow," and Shen Chi Yan seemed quite sad about it.

At normal times, he doesn't like to return to school, leaving everyone at home behind, and now his idolis at their homes. But the sad part is he has to return tomorrow. Shen Chi Yan sighed with a heavy heart.

Zhang Shangnan remembered that when he woke up, he heard Shen Ziyi asking someone to come and take his brother back to school tomorrow.

"Doesn't your brother go to school?" Zhang Shangnan asked, realizing that if Shen Ziyi is around twenty, his brother might not have finished his education by now.

Shen Chi Yan paused for a moment after hearing the question, lowering his head to continue his work, and Zhang Shangnan couldn't see his expression. He heard him say, "My brother dropped out of college while still in college. Now he works from wherever he lives."

The atmosphere became quiet as soon as Shen Chi Yan said this.

Zhang Shangnan's lips twitched after hearing this, and his expression became a little weird.

A collage dropout treating gunshot wounds professionally without anyone's assistance—it's really hard to believe.

Shen Chi Yan also felt a twinge in his teeth as he said this.

Fortunately, Zhang Shangnan stopped asking any more questions. Shen Chi Yan quickly helped him freshen up.

After coming out of the bathroom, Zhang Shangnan saw Shen Ziyi sitting on the sofa, lazily using her phone with a relaxed demeanor. In front of her on the table was a tray with a piping hot bowl of porridge.

Upon seeing them, Shen Ziyi pointed to the bottle on the table with her chim and said, "Your breakfast is here. Now you need to eat some light food." Then, turning towards Shen Chi Yan, she continued, "If you want, you can go downstairs now. I've left your food on the table. Ah Yu has almost arrived."

"Oh," Shen Chi Yan helped Zhang Shangnan to sit comfortably on the bed, then left after placing his breakfast in front of him.

After Shen Chi Yan left, the room became quiet. Shen Ziyi showed no intention of starting a conversation; she lowered her head to play games again. Zhang Shangnan quietly finished his breakfast.

Zhang Shangnan had to admit, despite its blandness, Shen Ziyi's porridge was delicious.

Little Mi and Little Bay were now lying on Shen Ziyi's lap as she gently combed their fur.

Shen Ziyi was always a silent person, cherishing her words like gold. The same went for Zhang Shangnan.

After a while, Zhang Shangnan put down his spoon and broke the silence, "It seems I have to stay here for two more days. I hope it's not too much trouble."

As he said that, his eyes remained fixed on Shen Ziyi.

Shen Ziyi sat languidly on the sofa, playing on her phone with one hand and patting Little Mi's head with the other. Her posture was sloppy, as though she sat in whatever position was most comfortable. Yet, her cold aura was enough to deter anyone from making idle chatter.

Shen Ziyi patted Little Mi's head. Her expression remained unchanged as she raised her head to look at Zhang Shangnan, squinting at him.

Wild yet calm, mature—this was the thought that flashed across Zhang Shangnan's mind as he looked into Shen Ziyi's indifferent eyes.

"It's trouble," Shen Ziyi spat out those words without any expression.

Zhang Shangnan was momentarily at a loss for words. He had never faced a situation where people found him troublesome. His lips twitched visibly. After a while, he cleared his throat and asked, "Then should I pay?"

Shen Ziyi gave him a blank look. What a dull head, she seemed to think.

Zhang Shangnan seemed to understand her expression and coughed. He wanted to hold his forehead. He didn't know why, but he really loved the environment here. He didn't want to leave this place so soon.

"You said I shouldn't move too much for a few days, so I can't leave now."

This time, Shen Ziyi's lips twitched. "Okay. There are medicines beside your table. Take one from each."

She stood up and took the tray, prepared to leave. She was almost at the door when Zhang Shangnan called out, "Shen Ziyi."

Shen Ziyi turned to look at him. There was a cool mist in her eyes—calm like a cold lake, black, enigmatic, emanating an unbridled, wise vibe.

Zhang Shangnan didn't believe that Shen Ziyi hadn't even graduated from college. "Lying here is boring."

"Fine. I will send Ah Yan to help you out," she left without a second delay.

Zhang Shangnan tsked softly, "What a cold guy."
