After spending a day traveling, Uchiha Chi arrived at a dock along the coast of the Land of Fire. The mission he accepted this time was to destroy a pirate gang that had been looting and plundering at sea.
According to intelligence, several ninjas were part of this pirate group. The leader was a rogue jonin from the Hidden Mist Village, and the other ninjas were wandering shinobi gathered by him.
Except for the leader, the other ninjas were not strong, only at the level of Genin and Chunin. It was for this reason that Uchiha Chi accepted the mission alone, rather than forming a three- or four-person team.
Meeting his employer at the dock, Uchiha Chi used the Transformation Jutsu to disguise himself as an ordinary crew member and boarded his employer's cargo ship, bound for the Land of Water.
"The pirates are coming! The pirates are coming!"
Halfway through the journey, a ship approached rapidly with the wind. Dozens of armed and fierce-looking men stood on its deck.
The crew of the cargo ship panicked and tried to row faster, but the heavily laden ship was much slower than their pursuers. The pirate ship soon caught up.
"Ah! Ah!"
One by one, the pirates nimbly jumped onto the cargo ship, killing anyone who resisted without hesitation.
Uchiha Chi sprang into action. Armed with a kunai in each hand, he faced the pirates.
Thud, thud, thud!
Blood splattered like red paint sprayed across the deck. In front of him, the pirates were no match, their throats slit cleanly by his kunai.
"There's a ninja on board!" one of the wandering ninjas among the pirates shouted.
A few rogue ninjas attacked Uchiha Chi, but even they were defenseless. In mere moments, his kunai found their hearts and throats.
There was no need for ninjutsu. In front of him, these wandering ninjas were little different from the pirates, incapable of blocking his attacks.
"Konoha jonin!" one of the retreating pirates exclaimed in terror as Uchiha Chi's transformation jutsu was lifted, revealing his Konoha uniform.
Terrified, the remaining pirates scrambled back to their ship.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!"
Balls of flame ignited the deck, setting pirates ablaze as they rolled on the deck screaming. The fire spread rapidly.
Suddenly, a figure leaped out of the sea and landed on the pirate ship's deck. The man wore a Mist Village forehead protector with a deep scratch—a mark of his defection.
He was the rogue ninja leading the pirate gang, the one with jonin-level strength.
The man immediately formed hand seals. "Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!"
Seawater surged onto the deck, extinguishing the flames before transforming into a water dragon that rushed toward Uchiha Chi.
"Finally, you show yourself!" Uchiha Chi's eyes gleamed coldly as he released his suppressed power.
"Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Jutsu!"
A massive fire dragon appeared, evaporating the water dragon before continuing its fiery advance toward the rogue Mist ninja.
The battle was swift, but the outcome was never in doubt. Uchiha Chi, an elite jonin with the three-tomoe Sharingan, easily outmatched his opponent. The mission was complete, and Uchiha Chi returned to the dock in a small boat before heading back to Konoha.
A few hours later, as night fell, he decided to camp in a clearing in the forest, lighting a bonfire to spend the night.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps. Someone was approaching. Uchiha Chi immediately activated his Sharingan, scanning the darkness.
The person's chakra was immense—several times greater than his own. Even as an elite jonin, Uchiha Chi's chakra couldn't compare. Whoever this was, they were no ordinary shinobi.
The figure approached slowly, stepping on dead branches with deliberate, chilling crunches. Uchiha Chi's heart raced. Cold sweat trickled down his brow as he felt the oppressive aura envelop him.
"Chief?!"
To his shock, the figure approaching him was none other than Uchiha Fugaku, the head of the Uchiha clan.
"Sixteen years of lurking... You've worked hard."
Uchiha Fugaku's voice was cold, his gaze piercing through Uchiha Chi. The murderous intent was unmistakable. The years of allowing a traitor to lurk in the Uchiha clan had been a failure of the past leadership. Now, Fugaku was here to correct that mistake.
