Chapter 60 - Delivering Letters

"Did you hear where the upcoming chunin exams are taking place?"

While eating breakfast at home, Taiyō asked this question while Mira squinted her eyes a bit as she picked up her spoon. Which was the result of her latest mission as she ran into some trouble. The client that she was escorting missed judged his enemy hired four Akatsuki members.

"It's either here in Konoha or in Suna." Kagami replied after thinking for a moment. "I don't think there are any noteworthy prodigies in this year's batch from Konoha either."

Most of the prodigy are already graduated and chunin, while there are a few geniuses. However, these geniuses are only geniuses compared to the academy or so he has been told. Some of which is when he was chatting with a couple jonin as he was collecting data again. One could never have enough data after all.

"Ok, so it's not worth spending the money again." Taiyō replied. "So how is that old suck up Danzo?"

"Well, he will live a few more years, but his body is going to be super frail. I can't do much about it in a short time even if I want to. He will be gone in three years at the latest." Kagami shrugged.

"Why did you extend it?" Mira grumbled.

"To buy some extra time and hopefully fix the situation with the Uchiha clan." Kagami replied. "Even if they are a bunch of stubborn people, they don't deserve to be pushed out or eliminated."

"Is the clan really putting some truth behind their words?" Taiyō asked. "Maru has been saying that a few old farts in the clan have been wanting to for years. However, Maru and Fugaku have been squashing them, but with Maru gone, Fugaku might sway."

"Them throwing a tantrum isn't the issue, it is Danzo who fanning the flames of discord between the Uchiha and Konoha. While we could easily get rid of him, who knows if he has back up plans that are worse?" Kagami shrugged. "While I don't like to boast, I could probably suppress most of the other villages by myself. However, there are a few troublesome people in the dark that can cause more damage than Danzo."

"It's better to know the devil then one you don't." Taiyō nodded. "Also, I think your ego is getting big."

Later on, Kagami went to the Hokage building with Mira. The mission to verify and uncover Danzo's actions was still ongoing. For it more putting out the fires that Danzo created than actually collecting evidence at this point. However, Hiruzen told them to put it on halt for the time being as he has something else for them.

"My sight is really getting bad." Mira said as she almost ran into a pole.

"The clones are getting closer. I feel it should be in the next few attempts." Kagami answered.

It was more of a hunch as the last pair was getting closer to success and if he was right about the current batch he gots going. Then gaining the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan should be within reach in about a year or two at most. For doing missions, working on his Virtual Reality Training room that is nearing ready to open up, and waiting on the clones to grow. It was actually a short time as clones took months to grow.

"I just hope I won't be blind by then." Mira grumbled.

"Your current situation should pass soon enough. However, I should warn you at the rate you're going, half your vision will be gone in half a year." Kagami said.

"It's not my fault, those Akatsuki members are strong. They could hold back Kōsetsu for a while." Mira grumbled. "Not to mention they managed to get away, but I imagine they will be licking their wounds for a while."

"Yes, but their leader is on another level. So we will need to step up training." Kagami said as he opened the door to the Hokage building for her.

After walking into the Hokage Office, Kagami noticed that Hiruzen was finishing up talks with Fugaku. In which the Uchiha leader walked out with a serious unhappy look while Hiruzen also looked like he wanted to smash something. Which didn't last long as he soon recovered upon seeing them.

"Well let's get down to business." Hiruzen said as a large packet sat on before him. "I need you two to deliver this to the Kazekage. It should be a B-rank but could turn into an A-rank but it is not likely."

"Will there be a response we will need to wait for?" Kagami asked.

"No." Hiruzen replied before dismissing them.

Leaving the Hokage Office, Kagami and Mira headed home to grab their gear. Neither in a real rush to move quickly as Hokage said they could leave anytime within the next day. Hence after saying bye to Taiyō, they headed towards the village gate.

"It's strange to have such a simple mission." Mira stretched as they walked out of the gate. "Not that I am complaining. It is tiring dealing with unreasonable clients."

"I doubt Kazekage or Suna for that matter will be reasonable." Kagami retorted.

Inside the Kazekage Office, a man in his thirties had his face looking out the window. He had his red hair combed while a man with blonde hair looked down. The man appeared to be a few years younger than the Kazekage.

"He is just a boy." The man said. "It will destroy him."

"He isn't a boy, but a weapon. If it fails we need to find another host for he is a failure. The village can not handle any more rampages." The Kazekage stated. "Now will you do the mission or not?"

"Yes, sir."

The man clenched his fist as he stormed away even though it was disrespectful, but didn't care. Even if he didn't agree with the Kazekage order, he will carry it out. Even if he is tasked to assassinate Kazekage's own child and his own nephew.
