Chapter 7 : Wakeup call
My time as a medical ninja student was tough, but fulfilling.
I worked long hours in the hospital, watching surgeries, helping patients, and learning advanced medic Justu. Dr. Tanaka, my mentor, taught me a lot about chakra healing and shared his vast knowledge patiently.
I got to learn from other skilled medics too, who were famous for their skills. Seeing their dedication and kindness while treating patients was inspiring.
One part of my training that interested me was learning about chakra control. Chakra is this energy we have, and I learned how to use it precisely to help heal injuries faster, fix broken bones, and even do surgeries. But I'm not skilled enough to use it fully yet.
I saw patients recover from terrible injuries, and some permanently losing them.
I saw a Yamanaka chunin who got captured and in that ordeal, lost his legs, got castrated and had one eye removed in the care of Kumo. But, his will to live was amazing. He is right now, planning to join the hospital as a mind healer for those affected by trauma.
It showed me that even in a world of battles, the military guys are the same. Stubborn and more stubborn. Oh! Also a bit broken enough to say, "Suck my dick, world. Even if it isn't no longer there. Just make do."
I shook my thoughts about them and shifted to the benefits I gained from my right decision.
I got to learn more genjutsu, especially medical genjutsu under the skilled dual care of Kurenai and Hospital. I am best at Pain Genjutsu, which helps patients by creating an illusion of no pain or pain based on the treatment.
I practised medical genjutsu a lot, especially at night, to get better at comforting patients in pain. It was a rewarding part of my training, letting me bring relief to those who needed it most.

The couple of months in the hospital flew by in a blur of training and healing. My chakra had grown significantly, now resting in a solid 450 unit.
It was a good leap in power, far more than expected. The secret to this rapid growth was my constant healing of strained muscles, which helped strengthen my body and then my chakra.
The medical Jutsu training I used is mostly for talented medics or the wealthy who can support it. Otherwise, to use it one needs to learn years of anatomy knowledge and then try it. No wonder Sakura grew so fast.

Still, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment as I caught up to my peer's chakra reserves. My strength reached peak human capability. Soon I would knock on Genin threshold as long as my chakra further increases.
As the year-end test approached, the academy grew suffocation. It is not because of the exams, rather; I know because I saw the patients in the Hospital, that the skirmishes grew in the borders.
According to Tanaka-san, who is higher in the Konoha hierarchy, the sand has already declared war on us, accusing Konoha of the disappearance of their kage.
The reason is that of evidence left from a failed mission in Sand Nation by its captain.

Looking at the kunai that was stuck in the centre of targets, I heard, "Kyudo Kirito, 100 points in stationary targets is good. NEXT."
Every test we took was meticulously evaluated by the academy instructors.
However, I did well enough, rising to the class average on the Shinobi's side. But in theory and chakra control, I hold the biggest dick in the class.
But the genuine shock came when I witnessed Kakashi's graduation.
Kakashi, three months younger than me, had shown me the truth of this world. He effortlessly performed the academy's three basic jutsu with a level of precision and mastery that no one in the academy could match.
His clones were many, and his transformation into Yusuke sensei is like seeing the real person and, finally, the substitution.
He did the 3 jutsu back to back in a second. Awesome.
During the graduation exam, the real spectacle was the shuriken and kunai throwing portion.
Kakashi amazed everyone by scoring a perfect 100/100, by hitting moving targets with pinpoint accuracy.
It seemed like his projectiles were guided by an invisible hand, always hitting the bullseye. The audience gasped in amazement at the sight, and I couldn't help but join in the applause.

Amid the thunderous applause, I couldn't help but overhear the whispers of my fellow students, their words laced with both admiration and subtle jealousy. The instructors, too, couldn't hide their astonishment, their praise tinged with a hint of envy.
"Did you see that? Kakashi's a genius!"
"He made it look so easy. I wish I had his skills."
"Three months younger than us and he's already this good. It's not fair!"
"Remarkable," Yusuke-san muttered, his usually stoic expression betraying a hint of surprise.
"Kakashi Hatake, you truly are a prodigy," one of them remarked, a touch of admiration in his voice.

The crowd went quiet at the sudden shout, curious about what was happening.
Shinmaro, one instructor, stepped forward and explained, "Kakashi, you've shown incredible talent and skill during your time at the academy. To prove you're ready for the ninja world, you'll spar with one of our genin."
Whispers and gasps spread through the onlookers. A spar with a genin was a big deal, especially for a fresh graduate like Kakashi.
I can see that this is a publicity stunt and morale booster for the shinobi forces in the village. A 5-year-old Genin is a win-win for both the village and Kakashi.
For the village, it is the moral now. For Kakashi, it is more or less compensation for his loss, coupled with the fact he is a freak.
A genin, proudly wearing his village's headband, stepped up to face Kakashi.
"The rules are simple: a one-on-one fight in the training area. The genin's job is to force Kakashi to give his all, and Kakashi had to prove himself as a ninja to us, instructors."
I nodded at the instructions, thinking them reasonable, but Kakashi showed us what he thought about the rules.

As soon as the announcement ended, the genin hurled kunai at Kakashi with a swift flick of his hand. No wonder Shinobi prefers long sleeves. It is easy to hide a kunai launcher under it, making for an effective surprise attack.
At the genin level, kunai and shuriken are the staples of combat.
Kakashi reacted quickly. He took his tanto out and waved it around. Despite my stupid account of the events, it's the only thing I understood about his Kenjutsu form.

Kakashi easily deflected all the attacks with his Tanto. In response, the genin charged at Kakashi and tried to stab him with a kunai.

Kakashi's tanto blocked the kunai at the perfect angle and skidded past the blade towards the genin's torso.

The genin showed his experience by changing the direction of his movement backwards with a single jump.
Kakashi snorted from under his mask and jumped after the genin, waving his Tanto in a series of slashes and blocks at the Genin.

Genin parried or dodge the slashes with ease and, while ducking from a horizontal slash, he jumped to knee Kakashi in the face, sending Kakashi flying.
The genin calmly said, "Well done, kid. I was still wiping my snort at your age in class D."
Frankly speaking, this genin is just barely qualified. Kakashi is a walking ball of weakness now. Everyone knows it is easy to make him lose control by mentioning his dad. While as a fellow human being, he is right, as a shinobi, he is a failure.
Of course, you can be kind if you can become another Senju Hashirama. I mean, at that stage, both enemies and friends will become your yes-men.
Kakashi simply weaved the hand signs in response to the genin, " Clone Jutsu."
5 different illusionary clones appeared around him. I checked for the feet to track the original. A move by the Genin too, but Kakashi, while readying his Tanto, dropped a metal ball. The moment it clangs on the ground, smoke spreads.

Clones of Kakashi appeared one after another from the smoke cover. I am impressed that Kakashi made each clone do a distinct movement.
The genin is surprised equally considering, the mastery of Jutsu is started in the chunin stage for most shinobi stage, where the chakra is enough to make a fruitful practice.

The genin was smart instead of taking them head one; he used one hand to guard with kunai and with his other hand sent shurikens to the rest. As the smoke cleared, the practice area was empty.

The genin realized his mistake and turned towards the ground, filled with various kunai he used till now.

Kakashi dissolved his transformation and ran at the genin with the Body Flicker Technique. In a single second, I watched as Kakashi, with empty cold eyes, slashed at the surprised Genin.
But, to my shock, the genin's feet buckled in fear. And slipped down, making the blade originally meant for Torso, now aim for the head.
Fucking hell, He will die. Which idiot put up a greenhouse genin against Kakashi?
"Watch out."
"Kakashi stop."
Even the chunin was surprised at the sudden turn of events. I could see each of them ready to head towards the two. As I blinked my eyes, the next scene had an old man dressed in white robes with a red hat, signed Fire.
He held Kakashi in his spot midair, with a gentle smile and a two-finger hold on his tanto.
I could only think it was cool. However, I have a weird feeling that he gave a look at me in passing. But, just disregarded because, at his level, a shinobi will notice everyone in a crowd with a glance and even note any flaws with ease in the same glance.
Sarutobi Hiruzen said something to the sparring Genin which I couldn't hear. With a smile he announced to the crowd, "Today, I am here to announce the joyful news. Kakashi here is going to be the youngest Genin in Konoha's history."
The crowd erupted in cheers as Kakashi won the spar.
While everyone was immersed in Kakashi's new status as a prodigy, I was focused on the things the test showed me. Not just his jutsu skills, but also his creativity in battle.
Watching Kakashi's talent unfold made me realize I had been comparing myself to the wrong person.
While I focused on my progress to catch up with Kurenai and others, Kakashi surged ahead.
Still, I could only feel awoken, considering that even this Kakashi will become just a measuring unit in a decade or two, where even Jonin is glorified cannon fodder.
Kage can only guarantee their safety.
Multiple sages of six paths combatants will appear back to back.
