Everything felt off. Since the moment I opened my eyes, I could feel something was off. it was hard to describe it in words, like wearing 2 left shoes. I glanced at my surroundings and I could feel the growing feeling of uncertainty, eating at me. What the hell was happening?
Why did I feel like this?
The bed, the side table, the carpet, the cupboard.... It was all in place, yet I felt like it was off, was it just me?
I struggled to walk, my body failed to follow my commands as if there was a delay for the message to reach my legs.
Shit.
It was then, a headache came, roaring in like a tsunami. I fell to the floor, clutching my head. It was unbearable at first but slowly got better.
By the time I completely recovered, about 15 minutes had passed, I wasn't sure, it was an educated guess, but considering the state of confusion I was in, I wouldn't be surprised if an hour had passed.
By the end of it, I realized something, like a lightbulb just went on, bringing enlightenment.
"How...did this happen?" I asked myself, still on the floor, confused...about everything.
I was a scientist, a goddamned good one at that, yet I was here. In this primitive land. I believed in logical thinking, yet this blew me out of the water.
No, this isn't the time to wallow in self-despair, I need to make something of this situation, and find answers.
I was Shikamaru, a smart, but weak shinobi, I remembered him from my memories. He was a side character, quite lame in my opinion. Never mind that I should find information.

A year passed since then and I got over the fact I traversed into this world pretty quickly. I have been diligently training since then, practicing shuriken throws, taijutsu, and kenjutsu. I wasn't very good, but getting better every day.
I tried to pester my father into training me in ninjutsu, however, he disagreed, saying I was young. however, today was going to be different, he promised to teach me when I entered the academy, and today was the entrance ceremony.
I got out of my room, wearing a slick white t-shirt with the Nara clan symbol, a pair of dark black pants, and a pair of sneakers. My outfit was out of the ordinary in this village, people gave me stares but I ignored them, to me, they were the weird ones.
Arriving at the academy, I was greeted by a long queue of student standing. Not long after, the third Hokage entered my view. He gave off this strong presence, you could tell just by looking at him, almost instinctively making you bow your head in respect.
Later, he gave a long, boring speech about the will of fire. I ignored it all. I had one goal, find a way out of this world. For that, I needed to get in touch with the Otsutsukis, they were the only ones who knew a clue about this dimensional travel thing. If I remember correctly, they could travel back in time using a device, perhaps they had one for multiversal travel. I was hoping.

Arriving in class, I took my seat somewhere in the middle of the classroom. I could see the board pretty well from here and I could avoid the noisy bunch as well.
"Hey, Shikamaru," a girl came into view, having blonde hair. she sat next to me.
"Hey Ino, whatsup," I gave her a glance before turning to face the front., acting as friendly as possible. Good connection always had its benefits. That's how I build a business empire back on Earth, and I was going to do it here too. Using connections. Ino was the daughter of the clan leader, and the future clan leader.
"Do you want to train together, I could use some help in shuriken throws," she asked.
I nodded," sure what time, as long as it does not interfere with the training I have with my dad. I am going to start learning the clan jutsu's"
"I'm free in the afternoon, come to the training ground."
"Sure."
A moment later, naruto came in with Sasuke, arguing with one another, more like naruto was one-sidedly arguing with him.
Next to him was sakura, fangirling over him. I wasn't surprised, however, I was surprised by what happened next.
"You wench, how dare you cling to Sasuke like that! He's mine you know!" screamed Ino, almost jumping from her place. Her personality turn over from a calm one to that was almost jarring. It was like Sasuke had the ability to make every girl he came into contact with, lose brain cells.
I shook my head, not caring to watch that.
I was however interested in sasuke's eyes, I needed to get myself a pair of rinnegan, and that started with the sharingan. Maybe I could steal Danzo's, he should have Shiusi's pair right now if I remember correctly.

"well son, this is it, our clan's precious techniques." he made some handsigns and later his shadow started moving, making a gesture to greet me."
"This is called shadow manipulation," figures," it uses Yin Release chakra in order to manipulate both enemies' shadows and your own shadow in battle. However, if you don't have enough chakra, you'll tire out quickly without even harming the enemy."
I nodded, later learning the hand signs and practicing. chakra manipulation is easy for me, I was using my advanced thinking calculation to control my chakra throughout my body, using as little amount of chakra as possible to create the jutsu. Efficiency in my book was key in my book.
"Wow, you created the jutsu perfectly on your first try, that's surprising. It took me a couple of weeks to do that," my old man was surprised, understandably so, people in this world are stupid, they don't understand how chakra works, they think of it as this tank that makes jutsus. it was far more complicated than that, a whole goddamn process, the way chakra travel from the center of your body, to your bloodstream, nerves, blood tissue, and organ, finally, using the hand signs as a catalyst it creates and output.
It was more complicated than that but that's the general part of it.
"Yeah, I have perfect control over my chakra, creating a jutsu that I see firsthand isn't very hard for me," I said, speaking the truth, perhaps having the Sharingan would make this even easier.
"Oh wow, if I didn't know you were my son, I would have assumed you were an Uchiha," he smiled.
