Chapter 41: Sound Of Silence

...........

"Tch, you're annoying even in death," Danzo stood up, and pulled out his sword, seeking to decapitate Isaac's head just in case, "Burn him," He instructed as he lifted his blade.

"Huh??? NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Damned Uchiha!!!!" Danzo reacted very quickly as his hands moved swiftly, releasing a tornado of wind from his mouth.

The tornado seemed to be a combination of thousands of blades as they split the ground apart, revealing... Nothing but papers, the papers were triggered and he realized that his end was coming, albeit a bit too late.

The papers were explosive tags that detonated into a sea of flames and pressure, giving Danzo's people no time to react, leaving them as nothing but blood and body parts scattered about.

What about Danzo? He was after all the closest to the source of the explosion. Well, Danzo only felt as if he had closed his eyes and opened them as the memories of the clone reached him upon its dissipation.

Indeed, Danzo had learned from Isaac, only sending his clone, and it paid off, although he wasn't the least bit happy.

Danzo's nightmare came to reality, what he feared most happened for Isaac was truly a cockroach... No, wait, "No no no, he couldn't have planned this!! Someone saved him!? What is that thing!!!?"

Danzo was alone in a specific room in the Roots, so he let it all out, his frustration and doubts as he spoke to himself like a madman.

"Who!? That damned Uchiha! Why don't you just die!!! Damn it!!!!" Danzo was losing his mind as he stumped the ground in anger and fear, knowing that Isaac was out there still.

It was all because of that thing, what is it? He wondered with endless paranoia as he remembered the white mellow substance that engulfed Isaac in an instant and pulled him underground.

"Assemble!!! Look for him! The damned Uchiha! I want him found yesterday! do you understand!?" That's truly the only thing Danzo could do, sending the Roots to search for him.

"Should I ruin his reputation?!" Danzo whispered to himself some more, "What if I spread that he's the creator of Eternal News? No, most would love him for it... I can't allow that. I have to make him and his legacy disappear as if it had never existed... Find him!!!!!!"

There was a reason Danzo was so mad for only he knows how much planning went into his grand scheme, and how many of the Roots had to be sacrificed for things to go so well.

He had to feed the Third Raikage a lot of information to make sure he attacked Isaac, or rather, save his son, something he was sure the Raikage would do due to his personality.

Moreover, all of those ambushes against Konoha's teams are very costly for he knows none of the Roots performing the operation can come back.

That was especially so against someone like Minato who must've joined his team back in a very short time with his Flying Thunder God Technique.

And the Uchihas aren't easy to deal with, thus why all of those ambushes were merely a distraction, his target being Isaac, the latter almost becoming his obsession.

Isaac does warrant such a treatment. He after all controls many people's source of information, Eternal News.

The moment Danzo knew of that, the danger of Isaac in his mind went up by several grades, becoming a target for elimination at all costs, thus why he was willing to sacrifice so many of his people.

Come to think of it, how did Danzo find out? How did he find out that Isaac is the creator of Eternal News?

While Danzo was lost in madness, many were lost in sadness, wrath, and panic. After all, it didn't take long before Isaac's disappearance was noticed.

That's especially so after the Uchiha kid who was supposed to be carrying Isaac came back, his eyes glazed, seeming very absent-minded.

All it took was an experience Uchiha to realize that the kid was in an illusion, an illusion that wasn't difficult to break.

"Huh? W-Where am I?" The Uchiha kid was dumbfounded as he found himself faced with numerous red eyes, staring into his soul.

The kid didn't remember much but he remembered enough to lead them back to where he was, the place he remembered being in last.

And imagine their shock when they discovered the destroyed terrain there, flames still burning bright, devouring the woods slowly but surely.

It was a mess, with rubbles everywhere, and smoke obstructing vision, though not to those burning red eyes.

They could see the remains of people, burning remains, and the smell of burned flesh, and then there was silence as eerie expressions emerged on the faces of the Uchiha.

The silence was deafening, even the overwhelming sound of burning flames unable to contend, only getting worse once Fugaku and Minato joined them.

"What are you waiting for!!? Put out the fire and search! Now!!!" Fugaku's orders broke the silence, waking the Uchihas from their shock.

What followed was tsunamis of water, putting out the fire, mostly done by Minato's team which aren't Uchihas, but Konoha's recent reinforcement. The Uchihas aren't very compatible with the element of water.

They searched the remains for any signs that Isaac was among them, but they found nothing but burned flesh, making them unable to know for sure.

They then searched far and wide, splitting the woods open in the hope that they could find him... They found nothing.

The air was starting to turn grim, then gloomier by the second as realization dawned on them.

"Continue the search," Said Fugaku coldly as he turned his attention to the frowning Minato, "What do you think?"

"I'm not sure," Minato responded, "It does seem like he was ambushed here though the enemy had to resolve to explosives even at the cost of their life... However, it's more so a hunch but I feel like something is very wrong."

"Where is the prisoner?" To verify Minato's hunch, Fugaku asked about one of their only clues.

"There, all chained up," Minato escorted him there as he noted, "I was only able to catch one, barely so. They'd rather die than be caught... The perpetrators are most likely from one of the other four Great Shinobi villages. Only they can form such a firm and strong death army."

"We weren't able to capture any. They either died in our hands or in their own hands," Fugaku found that unfortunate, but they at least got a prisoner, one they can not touch just yet.

"We have to take him to Konoha, only the Yamanaka Clan would be able to get something out of him," Minato advised.

The Yamanaka Clan is a family of shinobi famous throughout Konoha that specialize in mind-related techniques, thus they're often responsible for all kinds of interrogation related matters.

Therefore, you could imagine their surprise when even the Yamanaka Clan could get anything out of him. In fact, just their mere attempt at preying on his mind triggered some kind of mechanism that caused his death.

It was by that time that news of Isaac's disappearance spread throughout Konoha, or rather, death as Danzo made sure everyone believed him to be dead.

The results of the search sealed the deal, they found nothing. They had to believe him to be dead.

Obito did, and as one of the closest people to Isaac who was somewhat his mentor, he was affected the most, proven by his crimson eyes, and the three rotating tomoes within them.

There were tears for many cried for Isaac, not Rin though, and neither did Kurenai Yūhi... They didn't believe him to be dead, it was more logical for the latter.

Kurenai learned much of her illusion techniques from Isaac, and some of them were miraculous, most of which were life-saving methods. Therefore, she firmly believes that it must be all an illusion, somehow.

Rin's case was more extreme though. She was still in shock, so much so that she convinced herself that it was all false.

Isaac, on the other, only saw darkness, all around. There was also only silence, and he felt no pain, thank god... The pain was too much for him... Where was he?
