Naruto Online: The Strongest Shinobi

Michael, living in a dystopian world devastated by nuclear warfare, discovers a new VRMMORPG game called 'Elemental Nations.' Excited by the opportunity to escape his harsh reality, he purchases the Tier 1 headset and prepares to embark on an adventure. In his cramped living space, surrounded by the remnants of his previous life, Michael contemplates the hardships he and his family endure. The scarcity of resources and the confined conditions serve as constant reminders of the post-apocalyptic world they inhabit. As Michael watches the game's trailer, he recognizes familiar elements from the anime series Naruto. His passion for the show in his previous world fuels his excitement to explore this virtual rendition of the Naruto universe. However, in this new world, anime is not as popular, with people favoring slice-of-life stories over war-torn narratives. Equipped with the VR gear, Michael eagerly enters the game, expecting to unleash his knowledge of the Naruto world to become a powerful shinobi. The game's mechanics limit the number of players who can join as shinobi from the five great villages, adding a sense of exclusivity and competition to the experience. With the promise of potentially earning money through the game, Michael sees an opportunity to contribute to his family's welfare. Unemployment and limited opportunities in the real world have left him longing for a chance to make a difference. As the game servers go online, Michael finds himself transported to a new location, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey within the virtual world of Elemental Nations. Little does he know that this adventure will hold secrets, challenges, and the potential for him to become the hero he aspires to be.

Chapter 29: A surprisingly useful teammate

Chapter 29: A surprisingly useful teammate

Shuriken Jutsu is not something that the system adds into our status page so we had to train it normally.

The fastest way for me to become stronger is to be able to use my ninja wires more efficiently and thus be able to send my shadows around to different locations and trap my enemies.

And thus I decided to pack a lot, make a lot of storage seals and add Shurikens and Ninja wires into them.

Right at dawn, the 5 of us began to move towards our new destination.

We didn't rush there, since we had to preserve stamina, but that being said we didn't move any slowly.

We paced ourselves according to the weakest link which is Sakura.

Yuki and I usually covered each other just outside of ear shot of Naido sense as we moved, since according to our formation it was Naido-sensei, Sasuke, Ayumi, Sakura and then Yuki and I.

"Shikomu I need your advice about something." Yuki said as he moved closer to me after a bit of hesitation.

"Sure, what is it?" Over the past few hours, I felt myself warming up to his relatively chill personality.

"In a hypothetical scenario, if I had the Uchiha bloodline and I could upgrade it with my EXP points, what should I do?"

As he asked me that, my brain froze a little from what he said. The only reason he would ask that is if he were an Uchiha.

How did he manage to not get caught until now?

"Well, in this hypothetical scenario, from what I have read about the Uchiha and their Kekkei Genkai the Sharingan, I would dump all of my EXP onto it since we as players cannot ask anyone to train us in it."

Yuki knew what I meant, since the Uchiha were supposed to be dead and the remaining were being hunted we didn't have anyone safe to train with in this specific matter.

"Even if it takes 500 EXP to upgrade from Level 1 to 2?" He questioned.

I was surprised…did that mean he was able to upgrade his Sharingan to the first tomme already? How did he earn so much EXP?

"How did you even manage to upgrade it to level 1 and awaken it?" I questioned him.

"Sigh…actually my character never was in the 'sleeping,' disease bullshit thing by the system. The second I revealed that I was an Uchiha, this guy called Danzo made me disappear from the village.

He then trained me to be a root Shinobi and undergo all sorts of training.

I thought it was some special quest or something until he tried to use some mind altering jutsu on me which obviously didn't work since I am a player he cannot change my memories. So I played my part and he eventually released me back and made a cover story for me.

We all know this is a bit of a role playing game as well, and my role is that of a 'Root' Sleeper agent." He confided in me.

"And why are you telling me this now?"

"Well, it is because you are one of the people in the 'Elite-Chat,' so I am assuming you're from one of the top Guilds." He told me honestly.

"Sorry to burst your bubble Yuki but I am not from one of the Guilds, in fact I am a solo player." I told him to which he was surprised.

Which was fair, since I had connections with a lot of high level NPCs which normal/casual players would find hard to do.

"But if you promise to be on my side, I can give you information even the Guilds barely know about." I mentioned calmly to which Yuki looked at me with shock.

"What do you want in return?" He asked.

"I am beginning to realize it will be hard to control the game without my own player base. In return for me making you stronger and a top player in this game, you have to listen to my orders in the game. Betray me at any point and I will kill your character without hesitation."

Sure, it might be dumb for me to trust a stranger, but in this new world, I didn't really have anyone else to trust.

I needed loyal players as well.

And it was not like I was going to tell him anything really important, just some minute things that will help him be ahead of the average player.

"I accept." he said calmly as we continued to run.

"Well then I should let you know in case you didn't, Sasuke over there is the last living member of the Uchiha clan. He is probably being kept in the dark about any other person having the same bloodline." I said, to which Yuki nodded, signaling that he already knew that information.

"The reason the Uchiha are one of the strongest clans in existence is due to their kekkei genkai the sharingan. At the 3rd level it allows the user to be able to copy enemy ninjutsu, see chakra pathways, easily dispel and use genjutsu and allow the user to be able to move at high speeds while letting their eyes compute what is going on." I said providing a rudimentary description.

"But the level following that is something that makes them truly fearsome, the Mangekyo Sharingan. Each person who awakens this level will awaken their own Unique overpowered ability." I said, as Yuki patiently listened.

"One example would be something called Amaterasu, the undying flame. Once used the flame cannot be put out until the target is dead." Hearing the description though Yuki didn't really seem to be impressed.

Well seeing and believing were 2 different things after all.

One day if he was unlucky enough to meet Itachi, he would understand how scary Amaterasu is.

"The next thing they awaken is this thing called the Susanoo, a near indestructible armor depending on the level of armor used." Again, Yuki didn't really seem impressed.

"Let's just hope you never find out what I actually mean."

"I guess…"

"By the way, the downside of overusing the abilities is blindness so be careful if you do reach this point in the future."

"What?"

As we moved along, I just gave Yuki the rough rundown of the Mangekyo but I didn't mention anything about the Eternal, since I didn't even know if he could even get it, or maybe the Rinegan. That is one thing I didn't want to deal with.

"So what do you think I should do? It is already as expensive as B-rank Jutsus to upgrade it."

"Well, if it is so expensive, don't you think that is the system's way of saying it is extremely rare and valuable?"

Yuki didn't say anything at that and just sighed.

"Well hopefully this war gives us all a lot of EXP." He said while sighing.

2 weeks passed by in a flash, and we reached the border of the village to see tents and a rudimentary medical camp already prepared with tens of Genin running around and preparing rations and fresh water.

Some of them seemed to be players but the majority were normal NPCs.

"You are the first team to arrive, Naido." Said Kakashi as he approached us with his hands in his pockets.

"Kakashi sensei!" Sakura called out excitedly. She was probably relieved since she had seen his strength first hand and needed something reliable in this uncertain place.

"Hello Sakura." He said with warmth in his voice, he too probably felt bad that young ninja had to go through a war like he did.

"What are our instructions?" Naido sensei asked.

"Rest up for a bit and once you're at full strength head west. Pakkun was able to sense 100 Genin level Ninja who set up camp 10 Kilometers in that direction. I am sure it is a trap for just Genin to be wandering around, so I want you to investigate first. If it truly is just Genin, kill them all except 1 and bring them back to me."

1 EXP per Genin

5 EXP per Chunin

10 EXP per Jonin

250 EXP per Elite-Jounin]

"Alright, you heard Commander Kakashi." Naido sensei said in a serious voice, clearly taking everything regarding the war seriously.

That took even Kakashi by surprise but he didn't say anything.

"We move in an hour, be prepared." He said as he dropped his bag and disappeared from his current location.

I myself read the new Mission panel that had popped for us.

Did this mean there was 1 Jounin and Elite-Jounin for sure in hiding, or was the system simply informing us that that will be the future reward.

Naido sensei came back right around the time the hour passed, and when he did he went to see Kakashi sensei straight and then met us.

"Your mission objective has changed, annihilate all enemy Shinobi. I will not be following you since I have another mission. Shikomu, you are in charge."

I nodded at sensei as he flickered away to whatever other mission we had and as he did, Kakshi sensei walked out of the area.

"Your sensei has some pent up frustrations so he already went ahead and killed the Jonin ninja hiding in the ambush." Kakashi sensei said as he scratched the back of his head.

"But he didn't want to take away the whole experience so your mission is to kill them all. Now Sasuke I know it might be hard, still, play nice." Then his voice turned grim as he said. "This time I will not be around to baby you."

"Move, now." And as he ordered that, we all dispersed.

I moved in the middle of the whole team, with Sasuke at the front. Sakura and Ayumi behind him and Yuki behind me.

Our build was not optimal since we didn't have a sensory ninja but Yuki for now could take that role with his 1 tomoe Sharingan.

As we approached the camp of genin, Sasuke gave us a hand sigh and we all stopped at the top of some trees.

It was a perfect spot for a Nara Shinobi to ambush, considering there were Shadows all around.

"What's the plan?" Sakura whispered since we were still not too close to them yet.

I explained a relatively simple plan to them and sprung into action.

The goal was to beat them while using as little resources as possible, since this would be the first of many fights for us.

I body flickered to the center of their camp, with 4 of my clones surrounding the whole camp.

"It's an ambush!" And as soon as the enemy realized, my clones and I used my Shadow Possession Jutsu to lock everyone there.

To be honest, with this amount of shadows around from the trees I barely used any chakra, I didn't even need the others.

But I did use my Shadow Neck Bind Jutsu and kill 25 Genin, gaining 25 more Experience.

The remaining squad went around killing the other Genin, and thus our first super basic fight ended.
