Chapter 97: What is wrong with these Leaf Shinobi?

Shikuro sent some insects to alert the Hokage about their arrival and also to let the sensors know to stop monitoring the village for a few minutes which is being done to find out any outsiders trying to illegally enter their village so that Pakura can enter the village without any detection.

An S-rank Shinobi entering the village that is not of Konoha would cause a lot of chaos which they wanted to avoid.

The other reason for sending his insects was for Hiruzen to get all the anbus that he did not trust out of his office to prevent the information of Pakura being alive and in Konoha from leaking.

After the insect returned with the go-ahead from Hiruzen, Shikuro created a clone.

The insect clone along with Pakura entered the village from some secret corridor. While the original Shikuro and the genins entered the normal way with happy faces.

They reached the Hokage office where they reunited with Pakura who was completely hidden under a black cloak.

'Not suspicious at all' Ken thought looking at her before slamming the Hokage office door.

"Grandpaaaaaaaa, I am back!" Ken shouted

Shikaku who was napping groaned as his back straightened in alarm.

"Not again!" He said in frustration looking at Ken.

'It looks like Grandpa did not inform him about our arrival. That means Grandpa wanted me to teach him a lesson and help lessen his paperwork by making Shikaku less lazy. Message received Grandpa.'

Ken looked at Shikaku suspiciously "You were sleeping on your job again. Were not you? It looks like something Aunt Yoshino should know."

'This brat would be the death of me. But before that, he would make me homeless.' Shikaku thought as he looked at Ken.

"What do you want in exchange for your silence?

"10 million ryo?" Ken thought for some time before giving the amount. He was just testing the waters and was ready to bargain the amount up to 10k Ryo.

"Yoshino takes care of my expenses. She would question me about where I spent this much amount. So no money I am afraid. Ask me for something else. How about free coupons for a month to the Akimichi dessert shop?" Shikaku said as Ken gulped but kept his excitement in check.

'I should take something better. While the desserts there are quite good, I don't want to get fat like Anko. I should ask for something else.' Ken decided before shaking his head to Shikaku.

"An A-rank Jutsu?"

"All of my A-rank jutsus belong to the Nara clan. No one outside of our clan can use them except Lord Hokoge. But I know someone who would teach you an A-rank barrier ninjutsu. He owes me and I don't think he would reject teaching you. Will that suffice?"

"You got yourself a deal." Ken smiled as he shook hands with Shikaku.

Shikaku then glared at Hiruzen clearly aware of Hiruzen's scheme of not letting him know that Ken was en route to his office. Hiruzen though just looked amused at the scene.

'I would have tried to have my revenge against him but it would be such a drag.' Shikuro thought before looking at the others who had stepped into the Hokage office, especially the person draped in a black cloak.

'Is this how Leaf works? I am not so sure anymore about staying here.' Pakura thought as she removed the cloak after getting confirmation from Shikuro that it was okay to do so.

Shikaku acted like he was in shock to see her while Hiruzen just smoked his cigar.

"Ken, How many times I have told you to knock on my door and not to slam it? Do you know how much budget I have to allot for the reparation of my door? You and Tsunade always damage my door whenever you come to my office." Hiruzen said in an annoyed tone before he looked at Pakura and Shikuro as his tone started to rise.

"Shikuro, Why the fuck is an S-rank shinobi of Suna with you? And I can see that she is very injured. Why have not you got her healed right away? Is that how you treat your allies in the Leaf?"

"I will have an experienced medical-nin tend to you right away. I am sorry for my subordinates treating you so roughly. I will make sure to teach them some manners after this." Hiruzen said kindly looking at Pakura who was too stunned for anything to say.

She had thought that the Hokage would be angry at the Jonin and the kids for bringing a threat to the village but he was acting completely opposite to that.

'What is wrong with these Leaf shinobi?' That was the only thing on her mind right now. She was completely stupified by the behavior of the Leaf Shinobi especially their kindness towards her.

An Anbu appeared as he healed Pakura for the next hour while the rest of them stayed silent. He did not bring him to the hospital since Hiruzen feared that Danzo might get wind of it.

Hiruzen knew his friend enough to know that Danzo would surely use this information to cause chaos. Seeing the loss of an S-rank shinobi of Suna, he would surely ask the council to break the alliance with them and raid them. He would also try to extract intel from Pakura which would be detrimental to their plans as that might lead Pakura to be distrusting of them.

Danzo could even use this opportunity to spread rumors that Hiruzen was giving asylum to someone who has killed leaf shinobi in the past.

Thinking about his old friend made Hiruzen release a sigh. He always wondered what could he have done differently to preserve their friendship.

He focused his attention back on Pakura who was mostly completely healed now aside from the weakness due to the long journey as well as due to the blood loss.

"Since you are healed, Will you be kind enough to give me the details about what happened and why are you here?" Hiruzen asked despite knowing everything.

It was time for them to seal the deal and make sure Pakura stayed with them and was loyal to Konoha.
