Chapter 58: Bonding Time

"No Dad, I don't feel anything. Is that normal?" As Ken said that Shinsuke shook his head.

"There is nothing wrong in that Ken. A shinobi should never back down from killing."

"Yes you might be a kid but above it, you are a shinobi. If you leave the enemy alive, he or she could bite you back in the future. And then you would regret it. An enemy shinobi you spare right now because of sympathy can kill one of your friends in the next shinobi war."

"What's wrong is killing innocent people and killing indiscriminately without a reason. There is a thin line between being a shinobi killing for his life or mission to a shinobi killing for joy and pleasure. Once you start feeling joy in it, then I suggest you visit a Yamanaka." Shinsuke explained

"Yamanaka?" Ken asked curious as he was not letting a mind reader in his head anytime soon.

"Yes, they are the best people to talk to for your mental health. You can discuss your problems with them and they will try to explain the best possible solution to you. You can even talk about things that you can't talk with us. They won't even tell the Hokage about what you told them. They call it the patient-doctor confidentiality." Shinsuke said

'So they are like the psychiatrists in this world.' Ken thought

"Why are you both guys at home today anyway?" Ken asked since Anbu were rarely given holidays especially when one was the commander and vice commander.

Hanako brought the breakfast at this time and answered "Things are getting better for the village after the nine-tails attack. The village has stabilized so we decided to take a break for a day or two and spend some time with you."

"Anyways, So how is your training progressing?" Shinsuke asked

"I still have to learn the shuriken shadow clone jutsu that Grandpa taught me. I have a lava-style jutsu in mind which I am trying to develop. But I would need help from Grandpa since I don't know which hand signs would work for the jutsu that I want to create. I also have started training in kenjutsu with Shikuro sensei."

"Oh, so Shikuro has started your training in Kodachi Nitō Ryū?" Shinsuke asked

"How do you know about it? I thought it was supposed to be a secret technique that only Shikuro sensei had."

"Well, I was the one that taught him that style of Kenjutsu. Although he was not able to learn it. He still had the manual and its training method. It's a difficult kenjutsu style to learn but an efficient one." Shinsuke explained

"That is not the only Kenjutsu style your dad has Ken," Hankao commented

"What do you mean Mom?"

"Do you think that your dad is the Anbu Commander because he is the son of Lord Third?"

"He is the best Kenjutsu practitioner in all of Konoha and maybe even the whole shinobi world. He might even surpass Mifune who is the leader of the land of iron samurai forces."

"That's great dad. I was afraid that in another three-four years, you won't be even my match." Ken said haughtily

"Oh are not you an overconfident one?" Shinsuke asked amused as Hanako giggled.

"I am speaking facts Dad. I have affinity with all five chakra natures and two kekkei genkais."

Before Ken could continue, Shinsuke interrupted him

"Wait, you have a lightning affinity?" Shinsuke asked since he thought that Ken only had four chakra natures along with the kekkei genkais

"Oh yes, I discovered it during my training with Shikuro sensei after I checked it with the chakra paper," Ken said

'Alright, Now I might be a little jealous. Did the talent genes in our family skip a generation? Grandpa was a beast, Dad is a beast and now him. Looks like only me and Asuma are the mediocre ones in the family.' Shinsuke thought

"Anyways, As I was saying, I would be surpassing you soon Dad. So watch out. Now, I am going to train Cya and thank you for the breakfast Mom." Ken left the room as Shinsuke too got up to leave.

"Where are you going, hun?" Hanako asked

"To train" Shinsuke replied

"Oh, but you have stopped training since you became the Anbu commander. What has changed? Is this because of Ken's words?"

"Partly Yes. While I would love to get surpassed by my son, it would still hurt my pride as a dad and my own ego as a shinobi and as the son of the third Homage. But till he becomes that powerful, he would need our support and I don't want to be helpless at that moment." Shinsuke gave his reasoning behind his newfound resolve to train.

"So what are going to train in anyways?

You are the best ninjutsu practitioner in Konoha after Dad (Hiruzen) and Orochimaru san. You are the best kenjutsu practitioner there is. You neither have a kekkei genkai like Ken nor do you have the ninjutsu talent as the Professor to learn all techniques in Konoha."

"Heyyyyy, I take offense in that. You are my wife, you should support me rather than discourage me." Shinsuke objected

"I am speaking the truth. Tell me then what are you going to train in."

"Fuinjutsu"

She was surprised as he never showed any interest in this field except learning basic seals that are important as an Anbu commander.

But she loved the determination in her husband's eyes. It's been a while since she saw him like that. He was behaving just like the man she fell in love with. The man who wanted to become one of the greatest shinobi but lost his determination after witnessing his friends die in wars.

"Good luck then. Well, now I can't slack off either can I?" Hanako said with a smile

"Oh, You are going to train as well? What are you going to train in?"

"It's a secret," Hanako said with a smirk

"Wait if we both train then who would be taking responsibility over the Anbu work?" Shinsuke suddenly realized this fact.

"Let's give Dragon the responsibilities. Besides, things are quiet right now and it's not like we will be leaving the village to train. We can always check the things there once or twice a day."
