Chapter 98: Seo Yeon

I held him in my lap as he went into a deep sleep all of a sudden. I could see that he released his demons...although if it was for better or worse, I had no idea. I had some men who ran to the home and witnessed his rage take him inside and placed him into an empty room while he slept. I packed everything I could from his mother's room in the meantime in case he wanted to keep anything for himself as the home was to be sold to another family soon. I even started packing his grandparents things to set up a shrine for his mother's family after our wedding...I would try to hide these things from him somehow.

He was still in a deep sleep when out carriage arrived and I had some help getting him on it. I kept a hold of him and watched him the whole time as the man who people victimised, bullied, threaten him as a monster was finally catching up on years of interrupted sleep, restless nights and nightmares and we made our way to my father's village to meet up with my brother as the last day I carried my father's name.

I had to wake him up when we arrived; my brother was waiting for us and already had our beds made up in his home that he had made for himself and my future sister-in-law. I had tasked them to develop the village as much as they could under Bang-Won's nose as I had made too many enemies to ever come here in peace, usually who still tried to frame me and get me either exiled or killed...no way did I want any of them setting their dirty feet in my father's land. I kissed him passionately before we went our separate ways for a while; him with my brother and myself with Hui-Jee before we met up again after taking a tour of the village, especially how it had been advanced so far. Hui-Jee and Seon-Ho were both pleasantly enamoured and soon took keen interests in parts of it that they would like to become involved in. Chief Park already took on training young men to be soldiers whilst Moon-Boy was a chief physician with some students under him. Jeong-Beom took on manual labour but Seon-Ho had his eyes on a run down place that we wanted to open as a school for both girls and boys to learn side by side. Hui-Jee on the other hand seemed to be interested in teaching young girls etiquette and other mannerisms as well as giving Kisengs who were trying to leave their profession new learning skills that could lead to better employment or even marriage opportunities. We all had our own principles and goals for this failing and corrupt nation that we began to latch onto this concealed land that was full of men women and children alike all brimming with potential. We all observed children carry out chores and other labour activities that were beyond their years whilst the men and woman had long come up with their own systems of continuity. Most villagers had no choice but to become lowly servants, but as they didn't want their land to be discovered they took on other village names. This was a land that we wanted to mould ourselves not only our ideals, but that of my father...a village that would one day hopefully become far more advanced than the rest of the country, to be idealistic and lead us all out of the dark ages to a brighter future for us all.

We interacted with as many people as possible; we were welcomed into their homes and their lives so we could take note on what to improve on as well as what we could learn from them in return. We listened to their concerns and collected ideas that they also wanted to incorporate into their village. We all played and ate with the children for what seemed like hours until we were worn out and we all pretty much fell asleep at the same time together. It was one of my man's happiest days I was elated...at leats he had a new family who could take care of him for me until I returned to him.
