Chapter 82: Seo Yeon

On one such occasion at a job I had; I had already pointed out a suspect that was planning to usurp an elder family member in a noble home simply by his behaviour; he had to seek sanctuary after getting into a lot of trouble recently. he had become a lot more arrogant since the start of my stay, he had lost his dagger privileges multiple times due to his sudden bullying and humiliation antics of those from lower classes that worked for his family and even started dragging a lot of women's reputations through the mud. I came in as a distant relative of his diseased wife but that didn't stop him eyeing me since my arrival. He chased me everywhere he could but as usual I dent information about my jobs to my brother, Hui-Jee and Seon-Ho as they could be rest assured. My brother now had more men at his disposal so we alway sent a handful to me to to help me out and report to him regularly. With their help I was able to get the information I needed without really having to do anything at all; my deductions were usually guesswork that proved to be right. And so was the case with this job; the young man had started secretly meeting up with his relative's enemies who all wanted a share in the family business that the young man wanted to take for himself. They stared doing illegal things to provide fundings for weapons and so on. And with cases like this I handed over Seon-Ho who's job it was as head inspector to find these kinds of activity and close it down before presenting it to the King, so our work went hand in hand. That was another reason why my brother let me do it. He had started gaining a reputation for his efficiency and was very soon promoted from general inspector to the office of censors in about 6 months which was definitely a record. The king even skipped his next ranking from what was supposed to be special advisors and royal secretariat to the King which he did do on occasion anyways, straight into the Royal Investigation Bureau as he was also equally known for his war efforts which he always volunteered for every time and always came back to me in one piece.

The day I announced the culprit of his deeds was definitely more of the stressful jobs and I got a lecture from pretty much everyone on how it ended. We were all having dinner together when I decided to expose him a mere few hours before he was going to raid his family's home and keep every hostage until he got what he wanted. I made a clear statement about his intentions and from then on things got chaotic. After he recovered from the shock he lunged towards me but I soon held my dagger to his throat; one of my father's old ones that I always kept on my person.. e miked me instantly and made a remark about how I would make a better concubine than a spy. Remarks like these always angered me but I carried on with my obvious deductions; he had been unable to sit still for the past couple of days and household items had gone missing and ended up in servants quarters due to bribery; the same servants he was seem speaking to on multiple occasions and the ones he usually humiliated whenever he could. I then exposed the mess he got himself into; getting a certain noblewoman pregnant when he was staying in her family's home as a guest with his own family, as well as the huge gambling debts he had racked up with some people he definitely should not have run away from. And right at that moment Seon-Ho made his way into the home with his men who had a hold of the men who were going to raid the home. He then read out the warrant for his arrest and laid the charges not only onto him but his immediate family as well for familicide, bribery & corruption. He still managed to lunge at me and I managed to injure him with my dagger before he could do any damage to me at all.
