Chapter 161: Seo Yeon

Park Hyo-Sonn was the weakest concubine that had come along; she was still just a palace maid and was living on that salary. But I was the one who taught her how to cook and take care of herself so we was barely just surviving. But she had no interest in my husband at all, that much was obvious. She was only here to make my life a living hell as before...which she would have succeeded at if my husband wasn't well-acquainted with her and had the good sense to drop them off in an isolated building he had no intentions of fitting up at all.

I had my servants make rounds to the manor everyday so I could be kept updated, in case they posed any harm to my family. I kew that I was the one they wanted out of the way so they could punch on my husband and his wealth. But Hyo-Sonn was different; she did all she could to get her claws into Hyun-Ki to no avail. It was even rumoured that he had a couple of candidates to be his bride so she went a little...mad and tried to seduce him a few times in bed when she kept her job in his manor. In the end she had to be thrown out completely in the nude, damaging her reputation completely. He was a kind man as far as I remembered...so for him to have no mercy on her...she really had to have made him unbearably angry. And it was due to that reputation that she was pretty much bullied in the palace. I had started going back to work when the twins were about 5 years of age and I started leaving them in my brother's or Hwa-Wol's care, so I saw first hand how she was teated, despite the generously lax schedule Prince Bang-Gan had given me on the account of my children. She was trampled on, given most of the work to do, she worked all hours into the night, given the most nonsensical chores such as attending all night with a big candle she would have to hold above her own head. She barely had time to eat at all, so I knew for a fact that when she came to a home that was completely bare she barely had time to take care of herself...not that I felt any pity for her. My mind was fresh with the constant betrayals she laid upon me in some of my lowest times. And I knew for sure she was still stalking the guy whenever she could now that he had attained a position in the palace with the alter scholars much to my husband's dismay. He kept a close eye on him for god knows what.

I didn't want my family to live in constant fear and walk on eggshells for the rest of their lives with these witches around. My investigation had come to a halt since my marriage and the fact that Prince Bang-Won always made himself scarce around my husband, who monitored my every move in the palace. If I did anything out of ordinary in my work routine he would be the first one to know. I tired many times and I ended up being punished for it; he either kept me locked up in his office or dragged me home and gave me the silent treatment long enough for me to beg forgiveness every time. So until I completed that...I needed to get these girls away from my family so we could breathe again...as well as get revenge for my mother. I know that my brother Hwi wasn't doing anything to them in case it instigated me as well to take action...but I saw the pain in his eyes whenever he saw them around the our home for visits...when my children didn't completely knock him onto the ground whenever they saw him that was.

So I began my own little investigations again with the help of my servants. I didn't say anything to my husband...well I didn't need to. He knew me well enough to know by know when I was scheming and plotting. I assured him it wasn't about what he thought it was as I was home a lot more, since Chun-Ae made it clear she wanted to not only imitate me in all my mannerisms, my clothing and my taste in books even though I'm pretty sure she was barely literate...but she also took over my workload along with her own as soon a sit was given to me. I was only needed for the confidential things that the Prince trusted me with, much to her glowing envy. There was something off about how she suddenly got popular in the palace...but I would save her for last as she was the mastermind of this whole charade we were forced into. My first target was Hyo-Sonn, then the Kang sisters.
