Myths & Legends, Lies & Nobodies

Mill Kabrok has always wanted to be an adventurer, so he was excited when he finally got the chance to see what type of bloodline he had. What he didn't expect was the machine telling him he had no bloodline. No ability would have been fine, a low blood purity would have been ok as well, but the idea that his bloodline is 100% unknown. That was strange. He even has an ability even though the machine couldn’t read that either, but he had one just no bloodline. This was shocking to everyone because there has never been anyone without a bloodline. After running out of the event Mill found an abandoned building to sleep in where he had a dream, no, a vision of his ancestor where he learned the truth. His ancestor told him about how his bloodline was one that was never recorded into the system even though he was a member of the very first hero’s party. The one that beat the Ancient Disaster Agralon. Everyone from Mill’s era takes this to mean that the hero killed Agralon, but according to Mill’s ancestor that wasn’t the case. Agralon was sealed, not killed, but why would they lie about that and why was Mill’s ancestor not recorded in history? Something wasn’t right with history and Mill needed to find out while also preparing for Agralon’s release, as Mill’s ancestor told him, Agralon could only be sealed for 1500 years, and it’s been 1494 so he only had six years to increase his strength and get answers. After waking up, Mill had a newfound mission. His dream of becoming an adventurer was now just a means to the end. He needed strength and allies to help him fight so he started his journey by entering an adventuring academy. Mill would gain more understanding of his own bloodline, the world that he grew up in, and the secret histories of the world that had become lost to time. He will gain friends, enemies, allies, and rivals that will greatly impact him for the rest of his life. Agralon is the ancient disaster so how would he beat him?

Chapter 29: An Electrifying Entrance

"Again, I must say that this wonderful young lady has the power to single handedly slay an ogre by herself and that in itself is amazing!" The dean took in a deep breath. "But that was far from the best performance that my instructors saw that day. The crowd was shocked because what Lacey had done was far greater than anything that most of them had done and yet she didn't even have the most amazing run? Who in the world could have been better than that. "No, everyone, that was not the best. In fact, any one person within this next group would have been able to do what Lacey did and tenfold of that. Before I announce the official final MVP, I wanted to first recognize this person's group." The dean lifted his hand to the screen and the crowd was confused. Why recognize the group that was with the MVP?

As the screen started to play the footage Darren and Lua both stood up in shock as the scene that was being played was one that they had experienced with Karl once Mill had disappeared. The screen showed the three of them standing in front of the spot that Mill had disappeared from when the wall opened up and a small army of ogres were standing on the other side waiting for them. Everyone in the crowd stared at the screen motionlessly as they watched what followed. They watched a group of three people start tearing down the ogres at high speeds. Of course, the ogres all seemed to be a quite bit weaker than the one that Lacey fought, but they made up for their weakness with their unforgiving numbers.

"Are they really first-years like us? That's unbelievable!" The crowd was entranced by the three's performance when the screen cut away to the boss room where they were no longer facing ogres as they were now fighting half-giants while the boss was seated in his throne. "Is that a Lich Prince? That's a high-tier monster that even a party of intermediate adventurers would have to work together to beat!" These giants were far more powerful that the ogres from earlier. They were faster, stronger, and more durable than the rest and yet each person was managing to handle the half giant even if they couldn't beat it. The video ended with the three of them being trapped in a cage and their names flashed across the screen. The crowd clapped for the group, but the dean quickly used his hand to cut them off.

"Quite the amazing performance from our wonderful group of three am I right!" The crowd agreed in unison. "Now, I know what at least a few of you are thinking. Wait if those three were named then who is the MVP? Wasn't the MVP supposed to be with them?" The crowd then realized that the dean was right. There were three people one the screen but none of them were revealed to be the MVP, not even Lua who definitely had the most dramatic scene in the video, was the MVP. So, who was the MVP? Lua and Darren turned to Mill but he was nowhere to be found. "What the- When the hell did, he leave?" The two looked around but they couldn't find him anywhere. "That bastard just up and disappeared right when he was gonna be announced the MVP!"

"Well for that we're gonna have to go back a few hours." At that moment the screen returned to the moment that the familiar group of three were fighting the ogres and started to reverse. It went all the way to the beginning of the battle and then went further back until they finally saw him. They saw Mill standing in front of a chest and pull a key out. "You see, our dear friend here was checking out a chest while his party was engaged in a conversation when it had turned out..." The video kept playing and showed Mill disappear while he approached Lua. "...You see he triggered a trap that sent him alone to a separate area while his party engaged in combat with that group of ogres. Of course, that is just what his party members believed was happening now let's see just what makes a person the MVP."

"Why is he explaining all of this in such great detail?" One of the people in the stands asked

The dean paused for a moment and a big smile appeared on his face. "Now, let's get this thing started. The final MVP of the entrance exams! This man is quite literally a freak of nature. A it has been confirmed that this man is one without an ability, hell, he doesn't even have a bloodline to speak of. However, that doesn't make this man any less of a monster."

"No, like really. He's hyping all of this up way too much. It's a horrible plot device."

He was born in a small village to the west and moved to Aeulwuin at the ripe young age of ten. He is a genius that no one of a type that few people have ever gotten to see. I now introduce to you all. The Blue Freak, MILL KABROK!!" The dean lifted both of his hands into the air and the screen started to play Mill's footage and right away everyone was in shock

Mill was facing a man. Not a monster, not an animal, but a full-blown person in armor with a broadsword of some type. It was the first time that they had seen this and Mill was the one that was fighting him...alone. The fight between the two started and Mill charged at the man with a trail of flames chasing him. The crowd, including Lua and Darren, watched in awe as they saw this miraculous fight between two people. The crowd were awestruck as the two exchanged blows and Mill displayed amazing power though not much skill proving that he was still unpolished. The video then cut back to Mill's trapped companions and one of the half-giants were going to crush the cage when suddenly a bright yellow light flashed across the screen. A second later one of the half-giants fell and then another went to swing at the cage and once again the yellow light shot across the screen and beheaded the half-giant.

The yellow light crashed directly in front of the cage revealing Mill standing there with lightning crackling all around him and his name appeared on screen with the same electric effect as the video ended. The crowd was stunned into silence. They were all just staring at the screen and slowly an applause started, and the cheering began. "That was amazing! I've never seen a novice do something like that!"

"Was it even a novice? How is he so powerful without an ability or bloodline?" It was at this moment that the crowd realized that they couldn't see the man in question in the place that he should be, and the dean was of course the first to notice. "Does anyone happen to know where young Mill is at the current moment-" It was at that moment that a yellow light caught the dean's eye. "Wait...What's that up there?" The dean pointed to the very top of the colosseum and the crowd looked to see what he was pointing to when they saw the yellow light as well.

"Look it's right there! Now it's over there! What is that!" Then everyone started to hear a sound. It was a low rumbling that was lowly getting louder and louder as time passed. Within a few seconds it was like a bullet train was circling the arena as the sound drowned out all other sounds. The yellow light seemed to be moving even faster now and was now creating a powerful gust of wind. The crowd was confused, and some people were even scared. Then, a loud crash sounded out and the everyone saw a large pillar of lighting appeared in one spot then another crash with another pillar appearing. This continued until the entire coliseum was surrounded by pillars of lightning and the yellow light had transformed into something like a solid yellow ring.

"What the hell is going on!?" Then at last one final loud crash rang out and a blinding light appeared in the center of the coliseum which caused everyone to close or cover their eyes. The light persisted for around 30 seconds before dissipating and letting everyone see again. As everyone in the crowd uncovered their eyes, they saw smoke and dust filling the center of the coliseum and within that smoke was a standing figure. "What is that?"

"Is that a person? "Who is that?" The smoke and dust started to clear and through the smoke revealed...

"Hey, that's him. It's Mill! Was that all part of his entrance? Amazing!"

"Now that's what I call an entrance befitting the best! Introducing Mill Kabrok everyone!" The dean gestured to Mill, and the crowd went wild. Mill had single handedly gained the support of every first year with this one action and he was embracing it to the fullest. "Now that we have everyone here let me tell you the event- or rather a challenge to these fine young men and women." Mill made his way next to Lacey and the rest of the MVPs and awaited the dean's challenge.

"Now remember this is merely a challenge so you each have all right to refuse if you wish, but I would like to try to encourage you to push your limits and see your current level by facing upper classmen in the bloodline ranks that each of you represent."

"Face our upperclassmen?" The five MVPs started looked concerned and waited for the dean to explain the situation. "You five report back here at around 5:00 in the afternoon and you may all leave since the orientation is now over."
