"Come close my child," a voice whispered from the void. It was slow and syrupy, as if the speaker was asleep.
Sonnis stood at the edge of the void, Ianin stood nervously at her side.
"Such beautiful sweet children," the voice mused.
"Thank you Grandmother," Sonnis said, her voice quavered under the power of her grandmother.
"My dear Sonnis, something troubles you greatly, my poor little one." The Grandmother said. "What troubles you so."
"I am being pursued by my cousin," Sonnis admitted, "he claims he loves me. But he wants to possess me."
"Yes, the son of Onicent claims to love you. Do not despair my little one."
"Tell me what to do." Sonnis pleaded, she felt perhaps her grandmother could aid her.
"Sonnis, you perhaps are the greatest of your siblings. Your road won't be easy my child. You will face challenges. But none shall rule you but your own being."
Sonnis felt a rush of relief but also confusion. "But what of my cousin, he does not cease to pursue, where can I hide from him."
Something else was coming from far below. Something sweet and powerful. Sonnis breathed it in and felt something growing within her.
"Sonnis, you are to be the patron of magic. You must find your own way, as long as you stay out of the overworld you will find safety, until your cousin goes down his own path."
Sonnis felt a glow surrounding her. From the air she drew out a wand, and it appeared in her hand.
"This shall be your greatest weapon, use it and you will succeed."
"Thank you Grandmother." Sonnis said, she took a step back, sensing her time was done.
"Ianin, come forward my child."
Ianin stepped hesitantly. The little creature wiggled in his arms.
"Ianin, you are misunderstood by many. As you grow this will continue. You are the least of your siblings in many eyes. But you will find passion where others don't. You alone understand."
"What am I in charge of?" Ianin said plainly.
"That little one is complicated, start where you see need. You've already found it."
Ianin looked at the little creature.
"Ah yes, your new friend. Treat him well and you will find success."
"Everyone thinks I'm strange." He said, he felt sad.
"Don't let that be your weakness, use your strangeness. My blessing to you is complex, you will understand in time."
Ianin felt a rush of power too. But he didn't know what it meant. But he did know he had to get back to the portal room.
"I am so tired," her voice was getting fainter.
Epis sprinted to the edge. "What about my fate?" He sounded upset.
Grandmother just laughed at him. "In time Epis, be patient."
Patience was not Epis's speciality.
