Gabriel
I woke up from sleep with a jerk, I couldn't understand why but I felt something was wrong. I pulled down my tee-shirt over my head and walked out of the room in which I was staying in Alpha Xavier's home.
I walked in the direction of Freya's room I knew the way to her room because I had been following her for months now. It was not easy for me to enter and leave the pack territory but I had been doing it for Freya. The woods at the back of her house where the best possible way here. Though I had never gone deep into the woods till yet and had always stuck to the boundaries making sure not to be spotted by the patrol guards.
I had wanted to go and tell Freya a lot of times that she was my mate but my father had been stopping me saying it was not the right time. My family and always followed the coven of the witches which existed in the Eastern clan. My great grandfather had allowed them to practice witchcraft in his territory in turn that they will help him and his future generations from threats.
The witch had warned my father to not make haste and let the events unfold by themselves. She had the opinion if the natural chain of events was disturbed it would prove to be catastrophic for everyone.
That was the reason I had to stay away from Freya when she met Titus. It was not easy for me to see her in another man's arms but I had been strictly warned by my father, that I should not meet Freya and disclose to her that we were mates until the witch would give the signal.
The Witch Dinara was the leader of the coven and was the most powerful witch in the Eastern hemisphere. I had no intention of crossing her, at least in the matter where my mate was concerned. Dinara was the one who had told me that Freya was my mate and I needed to make sure she was safe.
The moment Freya's room neared I knew something was off. I knocked on her foot, but she didn't answer. I thought of waiting for her to open the door but my sixth sense was warning me. I turned the handle not caring how she might react and entered her room to find it empty. Freya was nowhere to be found, I checked her bathroom but it was empty too.
Where could she be?
I felt someone pulled the ground from below my feet. I should have known she might do something like this. The way she was silent after that Vampire attacked in the afternoon, it was clear something was going on in her mind. I should have suspected something like this from her, she was not the kind of person who would let other people die for her.
Without thinking I left the house, I will need a warrior to detect her smell. I came near the border of the pack and asked one of the warriors to accompany me, hoping we could find her. Knowing that the Alpha's daughter was missing the warriors got alerted and mind linked each other. Soon a warrior informed he detected her scent.
"She is out of the pack territory," one of the warriors informed me.
"How could she escape from the patrol?" I asked astonished.
"We can't be at all places at all the time, she might have waited for the patrol guards to move and escaped," the warrior replied.
"You need to improve your patrolling, it is becoming a joke. Anyone can move in and out of the territory," I replied.
Who could know better than me? I have fooled these guards countless times. They have been careless when it comes to patrolling. I couldn't understand how Alpha Xavier could tolerate such type of, carelessness.
If I would have been an enemy and wanted to kill Freya, I could have gone through it on countless occasions. I was just hoping Freya was okay.
"If anything, happens to Freya I will make sure none of you could see the sunrise tomorrow," I threatened them, and it was not an empty threat.
I had every intention of acting on it, these men needed a lesson in how to efficiently perform their duty and I was going to kick their asses the moment my mate was found.
We reached the place where her scent was detected and then followed in the direction till we reached the highway. If Freya asked for a lift from someone then it would be difficult to find her. The warriors shifted and started running on the road. I followed after them hoping we could reach her before it was late.
There weren't any vehicles on the road luckily and the wolves hadn't been spotted. With my speed, I was able to keep up with the wolves. Soon we reached an SUV on the road and one of the wolves pounced on it. The car skidded on the road by the impact and collided with the tree.
The front glass of the SUV shattered with a loud noise. I reached the passenger side of the car and was shocked to find an unconscious Freya on it. The seat beside her was occupied by a vampire who was being pulled out of the car by the wolves and shredded into pieces.
I pulled out Freya untangling her from the airbag and lifting her in my arms. She was passed out and had no idea of what was happening around her. I hope she would be okay, I pulled out her backpack and carried it on my shoulder.
She had gotten a small cut on her forehead. A little blood was trickling down from it, the sight and smell of the blood started having its effects on me. I was a vampire and it was natural that the sight of her blood was giving me ideas. Her blood smelled so good that I wanted to bury my fangs in her neck and suck all of it out of her body.
I was battling with myself, my beast was fighting hard to come out and drink her blood while my sane part was trying to control myself. The wolves might have sensed my struggle after they had killed the vampire because the next moment they surrounded me and started growling.
