Chapter 7 The True Face of Count Edward

On the way to the manor, Akasha's brain was abnormally active because she had just been frightened.

She jumped to a tree and sat down on a tall branch, tidying up her thoughts.

She liked to stay alone in a high place and look at everything on the ground as if everything had nothing to do with her.

Once upon a time, when she was in the castle, in order to avoid Shean's tease, she would run alone to the tallest tree. Sometimes the moon seemed to hang on the top of the tree as if she could reach it on tiptoe. She liked to tell her troubles and wishes to the moon. The most she said was that she didn't want to be a vampire. She wanted to become a human. Now that she had found a pure human, this wish was about to come true.

The night of the human world is silent, with only the evening wind and the chirping of insects. All the sounds and breaths would be magnified infinitely on such a night, especially for the sensitive woman, Akasha.

"This fat guy is so heavy!" A complaining voice broke the silence of the night.

Looking in the direction of the voice, Akasha saw two men digging holes in a secluded corner of the manor.

Akasha jumped among the branches and followed them quietly.

"He was full for the last dinner. It's worth it to be a dead man!" Another voice with contempt.

"How did they offend count? They were fine at dinner." This time it was a question.

"What do you know? They said something they shouldn't say and heard something they shouldn't hear." The disdainful voice was still heard.

Things that should not be heard, things that should not be said. It's about the two of them. Unfortunately, they both bumped into each other. They are also unlucky." One of them said regretfully.

"But they are from the Margaret family. We can't explain to them if they die." Then he began to worry.

"You coward! Why are you afraid of? We have dealt with so many people. There is nothing to be afraid of." His voice was full of disdain.

"The Margaret family is big and famous. The people we killed before were just minions." The timid man was still worried.

"Humph! What is the Margaret family? Compared with the Raphael family, which has been passed down for thousands of years and has a deep heritage, it is nothing. Will Count Edward be afraid of them?" The bold man still didn't care.

"Count Edward was not afraid, but what if the Margaret family came to ask for them, and Count Edward handed us over?" The timid man was still worried.

"There are only two people's lives! We have dealt with so many people for Edward these years, and none of them have affected us. What's wrong if we can't hand them over? Don't forget that there is another person in the manor. Everyone knows that someone around him will die inexplicably. If someone investigates it, it will only add another crime to him." The bold man said wildly.

"Hahaha, you are so considerate. Anyway, we didn't do anything. It was him who did it! The timid man finally dispelled his worries.

Akasha was horrified to hear from a tree not far away, and Count Edward was really fierce and quite cautious, and he killed the two men so quickly.

"Now that these two are dead, it seems that Miss Akasha will die soon." It was the voice of the timid man again. Maybe he could speak bravely, so he opened his mouth again.

Akasha's eyelids jumped when hearing them talk about her name.

"This Miss Akasha will not die soon. She was chosen by count with great effort. She will be of great use to count." The bold man replied.

"Really?" She wondered how to use it? What kind of person was she? Akasha Margaret.

"Useful? What's the use of a woman?" The timid person was a little puzzled and asked the same doubts as Akasha.

"Well, stop talking nonsense! Hurry up! This is not what we should worry about. Anyway, she can't leave the manor alive." The bold was annoyed by his question.

Akasha felt a gust of cold wind blowing over her back. She was on a pirate ship.

"Hurry up! Bury them! Let's go back and have a rest. We'll report it to Count Edward at dawn." He added boldly.

"Oh, I'm so tired." Finally, the two of them completed the task and sighed at the same time.

On a dark and windy night, the two men chatted with each other, disposing of fresh corpses, and shirking the responsibility for killing people in a few words.

Akasha gradually calmed down after the initial panic. After all, Edward wouldn't do anything to her soon. As for what purpose he had and how to use her, Akasha would wait for Edward to explain it to her personally.

Count Edward sent someone to call her to the study room. Edward sat on the chair leisurely. Apparently, he had been prepared for a long time.

"Sit down, Akasha. Let's talk." Edward pointed at the chair opposite her and smiled gently.

"Jane, go and make a cup of coffee," Edward ordered a maid who brought Akasha here.

After Jane left, there were only Edward and Akasha left in the room. Edward took a book, put on his glasses, opened it, and read it casually.

It was quiet in the study room. Of course, Akasha didn't think that Edward asked her to come here to read with him. She waited for a while, and when she saw that Edward didn't say anything, she finally couldn't help but make a sound.

"Sir, what can I do for you?"

Edward put down the book and looked at Akasha through his glasses, trying to intimidate her.

"Akasha, why did you run away before? Can you tell me in detail?"

"You should know Raphael. I've heard something about him. I'm scared." Knowing that Raphael was a pure human, Akasha decided to stay here as a member of the royal family. At that time, she had expected such a question, so she was very calm.

Akasha didn't know if Edward believed her or not. Anyway, he put down the book slowly, took off his glasses, and didn't push her anymore.

"Count, the coffee is ready." The voice of the maid, Jane, came with a rhythmic knock at the door.

"Come in." Edward put his things away and straightened up.

After putting the coffee on the table, Jane left quietly.

Edward picked up the glass and took a sip. Looking at Jane's receding figure, he said slowly.

"You know that this marriage means a lot to our two families, especially the Margaret family. I think you understand this point, Akasha. I don't blame you for this escape anymore. I hope you can behave well in the future."

"I was too willful this time. But I saw Raphael at the dinner party yesterday. He didn't seem to like me. I'm afraid I can't be a good fiancee." Caressing the teacup, Akasha lowered her head dejectedly.

"My dear girl, Raphael doesn't like to be approached. He is cold to everyone. That's why I need you to open his heart!" Edward grinned as if he was just an approachable elder who was chatting about family affairs. His expression was particularly relaxed, but his hand that was constantly rotating the ring exposed his restlessness.

"Count, I want to see the two people who sent me here. Can I have a word with them?" If Akasha hadn't seen and heard what happened last night, she would have thought that Edward was a kind person. But now Akasha was on guard against him, so Akasha asked tentatively.

Edward's smile froze on his face, forming a faint smile. He stopped rotating the ring and clenched it tightly.

"Those two people have gone back. If you have anything, you can talk to me, maybe I can help you out." Edward took another sip of coffee and said coldly.

"I'm just afraid that Raphael won't agree with this marriage. I'm afraid that it will disappoint everyone." With a sigh, Akasha looked at Edward nervously.

"Don't worry. It's not up to Raphael. I will help you. But it will be great if Raphael likes you." Just like every elder who worked for the younger generation, Edward showed infinite concern for the younger generation and timely showed his power in the Raphael family.

"That's great!" Looking at Edward, she was full of expectation. She happened to want to see Raphael, so she had a good reason.
