Chapter 15

This morning I woke up to pounding on the door. I walked out of my room and saw my dad passed out on the couch. I took a pillow and hit him in the face.

"Do you not hear this?" I asked him.

"What?" He asked sitting up. I rolled my eyes and moved towards the door. I opened it to find Elena.

"Hi." She said.

"Hey ... What are you doing here?" I asked her rubbing my eye.

"I need you to tell me what you know about Stefan and Tennessee." She said.

"I know you know. You and Ric. Damon told me." She said crossing her arms.

"I would ask Damon, but Damon's not exactly in the mood to help right now." I nodded.

"Yeah. I know. I went with him last night to go get Andie." I told her.

"So you saw Stefan?" She asked hopeful.

"Yeah, but Elena. He's changed. I don't know if he can be saved from this." I told her.

"So you've given up?" She scoffed.

"You're just like Damon."

"You weren't there. You don't know what he did." I told her remembering last night's events.

"I know he killed Andie. But Damon has killed. And he's made it right. Stefan can make it right." I looked at her.

"Elena..he didn't just kill Andie." She looked at me confused.

"He almost killed me." She shook her head in disbelief.

"No. Stefan wouldn't do that." She said denying it.

"I know you don't want to believe it, but it's true. So if you still want to find him, go ahead. But I can't help you." I told her. She nodded.

"But feel free to ask my dad." I said moving out of the way for her to come in. She walked in and I closed the door. I walked to the couch to see him sleeping again. I took the pillow and hit him two more times.

"Wake up!" "Okay! Okay! I'm up!" He said sitting up. I heard Elena laugh. I gave her a smile before going into my room. I picked up my phone to call Caroline. We planned a coffee date at the Grill this morning. I waited for her to answer, but it just went to voicemail. That's weird. Caroline always answers her phone. I decided to call Tyler to see if he knew where she was. He picked up on the second ring.

"Hey Ty." Hey Myra. Have you seen Caroline today? "He asked me.

" Funny. I was just about to ask you that. "I said putting him on speaker. I started to get changed for the day.

" She hasn't been answering her phone. "He said.

" Yeah. She's probably still sleeping. "I told him.

" When's the last time you saw her? "

" Last night ... before she snuck out. "My mouth widened. I moved to my phone and turned if off speaker and held it against my ear.

"You mean to tell me you and Caroline finally grew a pair and did it?" I asked excitedly.

"Yeah.we did." Tyler said, and I could practically hear him smiling from the other end of the phone.

"Finally! Gosh, it took you guys long enough. "I said with a smile.

" Alright, well I'm headed to the Grill. Wanna meet me? Caroline's supposed to meet me there in fifteen. "I told him.

" Yeah. I'll see you then. Bye. "He said hanging up. I put my shoes on, grabbed my purse, and walked out of my room to find the house was empty.

" Oh great. They left and didn't say goodbye. "I said out loud. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my keys. When I got in my car and turned it on, the radio turned on.

" Alright and up next is Fun's hit "Tonight ! " I immediately turned the radio off, seeing as how that's my favorite song, along with Stefan's. And Stefan is the last thing I want to be thinking about right now.

Before I got to the Grill, I stopped to get some gas. Afterwards, I parked at the Grill and walked in to find Elena and my dad heading out.

"Hey. What's going on?"

"We're going to find Stefan." Elena said. I looked at my dad and Elena.

"Do you maybe wanna come?"

"No. I'm meeting Tyler right now and Caroline a little later. I have other things to do today. So ... um ... be safe." I said walking around them and towards Tyler, who was talking to Matt at the pool table.

"Hello boys."

"Hey Myra." Matt and Tyler said with a smile.

"So what were you talking about?" I asked them leaning against the table.

"Full moon is tonight. And I was asking Tyler if he needed any help." Matt explained.

"I don't think that's a good idea Matt. What if Tyler accidentally hurt you?" I asked.

"I'll help you Tyler. I know what to do. I've done it before."

"Thanks Myra." I smiled and nodded.

"Alright. Can I get you something to drink?" Matt asked.

"A coffee would be great." I said with a smile.

"One coffee coming up." Matt said walking away to get it.

"So ..." I said turning to Tyler.

"You and Caroline, huh ...?" I said with a smile. He rolled his eyes and laughed. Matt came back with the coffee.

"Thank you." I grabbed a small bottle of vervain and poured a little into my coffee. I then took a sip and looked up to find the boys staring at me.

"What?"

"What was that?" Tyler asked.

"Vervain. I drink it in my coffee every morning." I told them drinking some more.

"Well the sheriff has me slip it into the coffee sometimes, so your coffee already had some in it." Matt told me.

"Oh, well..a little extra couldn't hurt." I told them drinking some more coffee. Tyler then took a sip of his coffee and tasted the vervain.

"This was in my coffee this morning, my mom made it. Do you think she knows?" Tyler asked.

"Tyler, your mom's on the council. Why wouldn't she know?" I asked him. He looked like realization hit him or something.

"Come on." He put a ten dollar bill on the table and grabbed my hand. I grabbed my purse as he dragged me to my car.

"Lockwood Mansion, go there now."

"Alright wolf boy, Calm down will ya?" I said as I started to drive to the Lockwood Mansion. As I was driving, my phone started to ring. It was Damon.

"Hey." I said into the phone.

"Hi. I'm going to the Smoky Mountains to stop your dumb doppelganger friend from killing herself. Wanna come?" Damon said.

"Can't. I'm helping Tyler tonight. You know, full moon and all." I told him.

"Ugh. Stupid wolf." Damon said with a scoff.

"I can hear you." Tyler said from next to us. I laughed and smiled.

"I know you just can't spend twenty minutes without me, but you'll have to do this on your own Salvatore." I said with a smirk.

"Alright. Well if I see Stefan, I'll give him my worst for hurting you." Damon said which made me smile.

"Thanks Damon. Glad to know one of you has my back." I said with a sigh.

"Hey, I know he only did it so you would let him go. So don't. Fight for him. I know how much he hurt you, physically and emotionally, but don't give up on him. Because I know there's no way in hell he would give up on you. "Damon said. He's right. I shouldn't give up on Stefan.

" You're right Damon, thank you. "We were approaching the Lockwood house.

" I have to go. I'll talk to you later. "I hung up the phone as I pulled up into the driveway. When we got inside, he walked into his dad's old office. I've been here way too many times.

" Hello Tyler. Myra. "She looked at me weirdly.

" You put vervain in my coffee this morning. Why? "Tyler asked him mom.

" Vervain? What are you talking about? "She asked playing dumb.

" Let's skip the part where we pretend we don't know about the vampires in this town. You were testing me to see if I was a vampire. I want to know why. "Tyler demanded.

" You've been spending so much time with Caroline. I had to know for sure. "She said walking away from her desk. I looked at Tyler confused before saying something.

" What does Caroline have to do with it? "I asked her.

" I don't think this conversation concerns you sweetie. You should just head home. "She told me.

" I want you to tell me what Caroline has to do with this. "I told her.

" Let's skip the part where we pretend she's not one of them. "She said. Tyler stepped forward.

"Did you do something to her?" He asked her.

"Tyler, I don't want you to be with her." Mrs. Lockwood persisted.

"Where is she, mom?" Tyler asked moving closer to his mom.

"I can't let you be together." His mom said.

"What did you do to her? Where is she?" Tyler asked starting to raise his voice.

"You can't be with her. She's a monster." His mom yelled. He paused and looked back at me. She doesn't know.

"You don't know about me, do you?" Tyler asked his mom.

"Know what? Know what, Tyler?" She panicked. Tyler was taking his mom to the Lockwood Cellar so she could see what she was. I went with them to help Tyler chain himself up. When we got there, the moon was almost at its apex.

"Tyler, we gotta hurry." I told him. He looked up and looked down, because of the moon's affect on him.

"Okay." We went down into the cellar.

"Tyler, what is it? Just ... just tell me." Mrs. Lockwood said nervously.

"You need to see for yourself." Tyler said. He picked up the chains.

"What are you doing?" She asked confused.

"You think Caroline's a monster? I'm the monster, mom." Tyler said starting to feel it.

"What?" She yelled. He grunted and groaned in pain.

"Tyler, what's happening?" She yelled. I grabbed her by the hand.

"Mrs. Lockwood, you have to go in here." She shook her head.

"If you don't, he could kill you. Please!" I begged her. She finally went in there. I put the chains on and went to help Tyler. I helped him wrap the chains on his arms and legs. I handed him a bottle of water and wolfsbane from my bag.

"Here. Drink." He took a sip of it and yelled and screamed as he swallowed it. I tightened the last of the chains and opened the chains to the cell Mrs. Lockwood was in. I joined her and put the chains back on.

"Tyler! What's happening to you?" She asked as tears came from her eyes.

"Me, Uncle Mason, it's in our blood. It's our family curse." Tyler said groaning.

"What curse?" Mrs. Lockwood yelled confused. His transformation began.

"Tyler, what's happening ?! What's happening?" His fangs were out and his eyes were yellow. She screamed.

"Oh, my God! Ohh! No! Ohh!" I grabbed her by the shoulders and brought her away from the cell door. She cried and shook nervously as she watched her Tyler turn. It's been hours. I don't know how many. But Tyler is back in his human form. I was just waiting for him to wake up. My dad told me and told me I was right. Elena and Jeremy need an authority figure right now. So he's staying at the Gilbert House. I guess I'll just stay at the Boarding House, again. I heard moving, so I looked up and saw Tyler was waking up. I sighed in relief and grabbed the blanket I brought from my bag. I walked up to Tyler and wrapped it around him, rubbing his shoulders and back for comfort. He looked up at me.

"Thanks." He said. I smiled and nodded. He looked past me and to his mom, who looked shocked at what she just witnessed.

"I'll take care of it. I'll make sure nothing happens to her." She said through the tears. Tyler and I both let out a breath of relief.

"Thank you." He said with a smile. It was the next day at the Boarding House. Damon knows where Stefan is because he talked to Katherine this morning. Katherine, of all people. Damon, Elena, and I are going to Chicago. Yay..this will be so much fun ... Can you hear the sarcasm? We were on the road driving. I was in the back seat, while Damon and Elena were in the front.

"I sure hope we find him, 'cause it would suck if the last memento of Stefan was that crappy old necklace." Damon said referring to the necklace Stefan gave Elena.

"It's an antique, Damon. Like you." Elena said causing me to laugh.

"Myra, be a dear and hand me the book next to you." Damon said. I handed him a leather-back journal.

"Read this. Paints a pretty little picture of Stefan's first experience in Chicago."

"It's Stefan's diary. I'm not going to invade his private thoughts." Elena said shaking her head.

"You need to be prepared for what you're about to see." Damon said.

"I've seen Stefan in his darkest periods. I can handle it." Elena said giving the journal back to him.

"Here. You read it." Damon said handing it to me. Elena looked at me. I opened it up. She looked shocked.

"What? Damon's right. We need to be prepared." I opened it up and picked the first date I saw.

"March 12, 1992. 'I've blacked out days. I wake up in strangers' blood. In places I don't recognize. With women I don't remember."

"Ahh! I'm shocked! Stefan's not a virgin?" Damon said looking at Elena.

"Eyes on the road, grandma." Elena said annoyed.

"Fine. Back to my game. Tell me if you see a Florida plate." Damon said with a smirk. I ignored him and continued to read the journal. Once we arrived in Chicago, Damon was bringing us to Stefan's old apartment. We were walking along the halls.

"Stefan could live anywhere in Chicago and he chose this?" Elena asked surprised.

"There used to be an all-girls high school around the corner, but it shut down for attendance issues. Weird." Damon said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes.

"If you're trying to scare me into giving up and going back, it's not going to work." Elena told him.

"She's right. We're gonna find Stefan. No matter what." I told him. Damon put his index finger to his lips in a motion to keep quiet.

"Shh." He whispered. He broke the lock and opened the door.

"Here we are. Stefan's second personality home." We walked inside and looked around.

"He obviously hasn't been here." I pointed out.

"Tour is not over yet." Damon said. He moved toward a wall shelf panel next to the refrigerator, put his hand to the edge of the panel and pulled. The panel swiveled open to reveal a dark back room. Damon motioned to it, walked inside, and pulled a light cord. The light revealed there's a lot of alcohol on shelves against the back wall.

"Stefan hid his alcohol. What a monster." Elena said sarcastically.

"Look harder." Damon said. We both walked towards Damon. I looked inside and saw a bunch of names on the side of the wall. I saw too many names to count. "It's a list of names." I said. Damon mumbled. But then I realized something. And I think Elena did too.

"These are all his victims?" She asked.

"Still handling it?" Damon asked. Damon turned and walked out of the closet.

"What were you doing in the 1920s? Paving the way for women's liberation?" Elena asked him. We both walked out of the closet and faced Damon.

"I was around. Chicago's a big city. Stefan was a cocky ripper douche. But I could avoid him and still indulge in a few Daisy Buchanans of my own." Damon said. I looked at him disgusted, but he headed towards the door.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"His old stomping ground .: Damon said opening the door.

" I'm coming with you. "Elena and I said at the same time.

" No. You two stay here and whip up an actual plan. I'll come back when I find him. "Damon said closing the door and leaving. I was reading Stefan's diary. Elena was laying on the bed next to me. It was all about how Lexi helped him through his dark times.

" 1935 . Cravings are there, but it's easier. Lexi's on to her next project: getting me to laugh. "I smiled when I read this. Suddenly, I heard footsteps. My eyes widened, and I motioned for Elena to go hide in the bathroom. I opened the secret closet Damon showed us earlier, and grabbed all of my stuff. I brought it into the closet and closed it. I hid next to the list of names and tried to be as still as possible.

"What a charming little homestead. Do you feel that? Is anybody here? "I heard Klaus say. Shit.

" It's been vacant for decades. People must break in all the time. Why'd you bring me here? "I heard Stefan ask.

" Your friend, Liam Grant, the one who drank his wife's blood ... I never could figure out why you wanted his name. And then you told me your little secret. It was all part of your special little ritual. "Klaus said. I looked to my right and skimmed through the names, and found Liam Grant's. I tried to control my breathing as much as possible.

" To write it down. "Stefan said . "And relive the kill..over and over again." Klaus said. The door started to open. I became panicked, but remained still.

"You believe me now?" Klaus asked. Seconds later, I saw his face. Stefan's I looked at him with hope. He looked at me with relief and happiness. Or that's what I thought.

"Look what I found." Stefan said looking at me. My heart stopped. I thought he was going to show Klaus I was here, but he picked up a bottle and gave it to Klaus. I was relieved, but kept my breathing still.

"1918. Single malt." Stefan stood in the doorway of the secret room.

"My favorite. Let's go and find someone to pair it with." Klaus said. Stefan closed the closet. I heard the door close, and I sighed in relief. After about ten minutes, I walked out of the closet and walked into the bathroom, where Elena was.

"What happened? Was it Stefan?" I nodded.

"Did you see him?" I nodded. "Did he see you?" I nodded.

"And? You let him leave?"

"And he was with Klaus. I couldn't do anything without compromising our safety." I told her.

"Now, we just have to wait for Damon." After about an hour of waiting, Elena and I were standing behind a wall. Elena had a vervain dart in her hand, and I had a wooden stake gun. We heard someone coming, she looked at me and I nodded. I loaded my gun, but when the door opened, it was just Damon.

"Finally! I called you an hour ago!" I yelled. He tossed me and Elena each a bag.

"You two, make yourself presentable. I know where Stefan's going to be tonight." He said with a smile. He then sat down.

"I told you that we were practically discovered by Klaus and you're worried about what we're wearing?" I asked him with a scoff.

"I had an hour to realize what a bad idea it was to leave you two here, process it, and move on. Are you guys okay?" He asked.

"Yeah." Elena said. I nodded.

"Okay, good. Get dressed. You're all road-trippy and gross." Damon said.

"So you know where he's going to be?" Elena asked him.

"Yes, with Klaus. So I'll distract Klaus and you deal with Stefan."

Damon said.

"Okay. Thank you." Elena said. Damon stood up and walked towards Elena.

"But you're going to have about five minutes tops before that hybrid freak rips my heart out. So please, tell me you can do this." Damon said looking at Elena.

"I can do this." Elena said with a hitch in her voice. I was in the car, watching Elena and Stefan talk to each other. Elena tried to vervain him, but he was too fast and caught her hand. Stefan made her drop it by holding her hand tightly. Stefan was close to her face, but turned and walked away. I got out of the car and chased after him.

"No! Stefan! Wait!" I yelled causing him to turn around. He looked at me.

"Elena, go wait in the car." She nodded and walked to the car, tears in her eyes.

"Please leave." He said.

"The only way I'm gonna leave this parking lot is if you drag my dead body out of it, because I am not giving up on you. Not again." His eyes softened.

"That night when you killed Andie, you almost killed me. And then I got a mysterious phone call that night when I got home. I didn't know who it was, not until just now..It was you. You called me to see if I was alright. You still care. And I would rather become Klaus' witch slave than loose you again. " I told him. Suddenly, Klaus came out of the back door, holding Damon by the throat. He threw him on the ground.

"Damon!" I ran over to him to make sure he was okay. He had cuts on his face, that we're starting to heal. He seemed fine otherwise. I looked back up and saw Klaus looking at me with a smile.

"Well, we meet again." Klaus said smirking.

"Now, what was this I heard about my new witch slave?" He asked intrigued. I started to back up. Suddenly, Klaus wasn't in front of me anymore. I bumped into something behind me. I turned around and saw Klaus. He held my hands and smiled.

"You're coming with me little one. And Damon, if anyone comes to try and 'save' Myra or Stefan, I will burn her alive and have you and her father watch." That was the last thing I heard before everything went black.

When I woke up, I was laying on a bed. I sat up and looked around and saw Stefan standing by one of the windows looking out of it.

"Hey stranger." I said causing him to turn around.

"Where am I?" "You're at Klaus's new apartment, along with me and his sister." He said. I sighed and sat at the edge of the bed.

"Why did you come back? After I hurt you? After everything I've done? Why?" "Stefan, you know why I came. And why I'll always come." I said standing up. I walked closer to him. I put my hand on his face.

"God I missed you." I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him. I waited for him to hug me back, and just when I thought he wasn't going to, he wrapped his arms around my back and pulled me closer to him. I smiled and put my face in the crook of his neck. He pulled away and grabbed the sides of my face.

"Everyday, I kept hoping you would forgive me for all the terrible things that I've done since I've been with Klaus, but then I though, how could you forgive me if I couldn't even forgive myself? So I thought that if I pushed you away, it would make things easier. " He paused but shook his head. Tears made it ways to his eyes.

"But it didn't. It made it harder to live with myself. And I'm sorry for hurting you. I'm sorry for putting you in pain, I'm sorry for-" I cut him off by pressing my lips to his. He held my face ever so gently. The kiss was full of love and regret. We pulled away and rested our foreheads against each other's. I looked into his forest green eyes and felt safer then I ever have before.

"Myra, I--" He suddenly, lightly pushed me onto the bed and moved away from me. I was confused at first, but then Klaus walked in, with a woman.

"You're awake. Good. Myra, I would like you to meet my sister, Rebekah. "Klaus said referring to the blonde woman standing there.

" Great, another girl. At least I have someone to show me the latest style trends. "She said with a smile. I stood up and crossed my arms.

" What do you want from me? "I asked Klaus.

" Exactly what you were prepared to do. Be my witch. "He said with a smile.

" And what if I choose not to? "I asked him.

" Then I will go back to Mystic Falls and kill everyone you love, starting with your father. "Klaus said causing me to panic.

"Oh, don't worry love. I'll take good care of you. "
